DRESDEN (Sept. 5) — A resolution dealing with the purchase of a smart podium and supporting equipment for the Circuit and General Sessions Courtroom was one of the top items for discussion during Thursday’s meeting of the Public Safety Committee.
A resolution authorizing transferring $13,358 from funds reserved for automation and placing the money in a line item for data processing equipment was used to purchase the equipment. The expenditure includes the cost of installation, training and an annual onsite service and support fee.
Mayor Bynum stated attorneys have a lot of trouble getting their personal laptops to configure with the current video system. “It actually has become a quite common practice to ask people to come in days in advance to make sure everything they need for trials works properly. So, she started looking for options to try to eliminate some of that frustration,” he said.
