The staff at the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Martin had planned to move out of their existing location, once a new building was constructed on donated property. But, due to the loss of grant funding, they now have their sights on an existing building being offered to them at no cost.
Members of the Public Safety Committee discussed the issue during their Thursday, June 7, meeting.
However, all is not lost. Mayor Bynum stated Reelfoot Bank officials have offered to donate the bank’s old building at 408 North Lindell Street, as soon as the business moves into a new location on Skyhawk Parkway.
Mayor Bynum said the funds that the Weakley County Commission previously approved to be donated to the Carl Perkins Center for the construction of a new building are now requested to be used for remodeling the donated bank building.
