One of the top items on Monday night’s agenda at the Martin Board meeting was a proposal to purchase property for the Brian Brown Greenway.
The Board approved a resolution authorizing the expenditure of $149,100 to purchase property that would extend the Brian Brown Greenway into the downtown area. The four aldermen present – Danny Nanney, Rex Pate, Marvin Flatt and David Belote, voted “yes”, while aldermen Terry Hankins and Randy Edwards were absent.
When completed, the Brian Brown Greenway, which is named for the late Brian Brown, will connect downtown Martin with the city’s west side and the UT Martin campus, providing a pedestrian trail for walking and bicycling.
