Drag racing in Weakley County

Drag racing fans have the opportunity to view the sport first hand at the Northwest Tennessee Motor Sports track located on Highway 22 between Dresden and Gleason. Drag racing season runs from April through October each year.

Weakley County schools have organized sports in football and basketball for students in the junior high and high school levels. High schools also have boys baseball and softball for girls. Individual schools have golf teams that compete with other schools across the state.

College sports fan will find a wide selection of sporting events available at the University of Tennessee at Martin. UTM is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and has athletic teams in men's football, basketball, baseball, track and golf. Women's athletic programs include volleyball, softball, basketball, and track. UTM also participates in intercollegiate rodeo and Rodeo Week is celebrated in Weakley County each year in April when the UTM team hosts other collegiate teams for three days of competition. Each community has recreation programs for youth of all ages. Among the sports sponsored by the recreation programs are baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and football.

 
Golfers can play the sport at two courses located in Weakley County and at a number of other public courses located throughout West Tennessee.

For adults, there are adult leagues in softball and basketball.
