Weakley County has a rich religious history. Religion played a definitive role in the growth and development of the county from its earliest days. Today, religion and the churches of Weakley County continue to play a major role in the culture and environment of the citizens of the county. There are currently approximately 64 Protestant churches and one Catholic church located in Weakley County. A Jewish church in Union City is available for persons of the Jewish faith. The Protestant churches represent the Apostolic, Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Pentecostal, Jehovah's Witness, and Episcopal denominations. There are several non-denominational churches in Weakley County.
