Senior Citizens Dance

The Senior Citizens Dance featuring Larry Morgan and “The Legends Band” will be held on Saturday Night, February 25 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the McWherter Civic Center located at 589 Evergreen Street in Dresden. For more information call 364-5678. Admission is $5.


MPD To Host Citizen Police Academy Class

Martin Police Department will be hosting a new Citizens Police Academy Class.  This year’s class will begin at 6:00 p.m. on March 9, 2017.  The class costs $20, which include the purchase of a class tshirt.  Anyone who has questions about the class may contact Captain Fuqua at or 731-587-5355 ext. 241.


Dresden Youth Softball –  T-Ball Registration

Registration is now open for the 2017 spring Youth Softball and Tee Ball season. Registration forms are available on the Dresden Youth Softball Association Facebook page and will be sent home from Dresden Elementary School. Forms can also be requested via email to Girls who are ages 3-14 as of Jan. 1, 2017, are eligible to play in this league. Boys who are ages 3-6 as of Jan. 1, 2017, are eligible to play tee ball in this league. Registration deadline is Feb. 24th.


“Dearly Departed”

The play “Dearly Departed”, directed by Bill Stallings will be staged at Dresden Senior Center in four performances on March 16-19.


VBS Expo

Weakley County Baptist Association and Beulah Baptist Association have teamed up for VBS Expo 2017.  February 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Martin.  Join us to explore 2017 VBS themes, exchange ideas with other churches and enjoy pizza, snacks, goody bags and more.


Chitt’ling Supper

Dresden Senior Center will be having a Chitt’ling Supper for $10 per plate on Thursday, March 2 at 6 p.m. This will be a fundraiser for the senior center.  You must call to get your name on the list. 731-364-5678.


Child Nutrition Town Hall Brainstorming Sessions

On Thursday, March 7th at 1:00 pm and at 6:00 pm, the Weakley County School Nutrition Program will be hosting two Town Hall Brainstorming Sessions in Dresden at the Board of Education. The school program is inviting parents, students, community leaders, civic organizations, school personnel, college professors, and churches to attend to provide ideas and suggestion on how to best implement and carry out this program for child nutrition. This service will be available to all children regardless of “need.”

Greenfield Library Board Meeting

There will be a meeting of the Dr. Nathan Porter Library Board of Trustees on Wednesday, February 15th at 5:15 p.m.  The meeting will be held in the conference room of the library and the public is invited to attend.


Chair Exercise Class

The Dresden Senior Center will be hosting Black History Month on Wednesday, February 22 at 12 p.m.  Bro. Devon Cunningham from Fuller Street Baptist Church will be the guest speaker.  Come join us for a very informative presentation.
