Cynthia Kay Collins
Cynthia Kay Collins, 55, of Greenfield, died Monday, March 9,
2009, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Graveside services for
Mrs. Collins were held Thursday, March 12, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at
Morris Cemetery in Greenfield. Virgil Allen officiated the services.
Mrs. Collins was an employee at Fred's. She was born February 3,
1954 in Greenfield to the late Cecil Scott and Cyrena Franklin.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband, Jimmy Collins of
Greenfield; a son, Chris Hatchel of Martin; a daughter, Meagan
Collins of Greenfield; a brother, Kenneth Scott of Greenfield; and
three grandchildren, Kenneth Hatchel of Dresden, Cody Hatchel of
Dresden, and Kimberly Hatchel of Dresden.
David A. Bryan, Jr.
David A. Bryan, Jr., 45, of Greenfield, died Thursday, March
12, 2009, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Mr. Bryan were held Saturday, March 14, 2009, at 2:00
p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in
Morris Cemetery in Greenfield. Jerry Powell officiated the services.
Mr. Bryan was a truck driver and a Baptist by faith. He was
born August 28, 1963 in Sikeston, Missouri. Mr. Bryan was preceded
in death by his father, David Bryan, Sr.
Mr. Bryan is survived by his mother, Georgia (Walker) Bryan
of Greenfield; a daughter, Elizabeth Bryan of Huntingdon; two
sisters, Angela (Bill) Cash of Greenfield, and Pat (Tony) Townsend
of Greenfield; and two brothers, Daniel Bryan of Greenfield, and
Dean (Melissa) Bryan of Idlewild. James E.
(Jimmy) Dunn
James E. (Jimmy) Dunn, 69, of Martin, died Wednesday, March
11, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Funeral
services for Mr. Dunn were held Saturday, March 14, 2009, at 1:00
p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Burial followed in East Side
Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Mike Sams and Rev. David Brown officiated
the services.
Mr. Dunn was a teacher/educator and former principal of
Martin Elementary School and Dresden Junior High School. He was also
a former football coach at Martin Junior High, Martin High School,
and Westview High School. Mr. Dunn was a 1957 graduate of Martin
High School and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, member of the Martin
Masonic Lodge #551, and member of Martin First Baptist Church. Mr.
Dunn was born May 20, 1939 in Martin to the late Wendell Dunn and
Aileen Hutchens.
Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patsy Capps Dunn of
Martin; a son, Mr. Mike (Tina) Dunn of Fairview, Tennessee; a
daughter, Mrs. Susan (Scott) Ribble of Brownsville, Tennessee; a
brother, John Will Dunn of Martin; two sisters, Agnes Pinkston of
Martin, and Doris Ann Hinson of Lexington, Tennessee; and two
grandchildren, Kadin Scott Ribble and James Kiefer Ribble.
Jesse Thomas Jones
Jesse Thomas Jones, 49, of Dresden, died Sunday, March 8,
2009, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Jones were held
Thursday, March 12, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Jolley Springs Cemetery in
Dresden. Larry Gallimore officiated the services.
Mr. Jones was a paver for Tri-County Paving Company and a
Baptist by faith. He was born in Martin. Mr. Jones was preceded in
death by his father, James Thomas Jones; and a brother, John Carlos
Jones.
Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Jeff Jones of Palmersville,
and Jamie Jones of Dresden; his mother and stepfather, Mattie May
Barner Crowell and Ray Crowell of Dresden; a sister, Tonia Gallimore
of Dresden; a half-brother, James Lutz of Dresden; and two
grandchildren, Allyson Jeanette and Thomas Jae Jeffery Jones of
Palmersville. Joe Q. Monroe
Joe Q. Monroe, 90, of Martin, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at
his home. Funeral services for Mr. Monroe were held Wednesday, March
11, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Church of Christ. Burial followed
in Eastside Cemetery in Martin. Bro. Ricky Phillips officiated the
services.
Mr. Monroe was a self-employed carpenter and a veteran of
WWII having served in the United States Army 32nd Rainbow Division.
He attended Martin Church of Christ and was a member of the American
Legion. Mr. Monroe was born October 1, 1918 in Greenfield to the
late Johnny Clarence Monroe and Linnie Medling. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Monroe was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha
Wray.
Mr. Monroe is survived by a daughter, Linda (Monroe)
Nichelson of Memphis; a son, Douglas Monroe of Martin; a stepson,
Steve Wray of Martin; three sisters, Christeen Monroe of Greenfield,
Alene Smith of Franklin, and Doris Foster of McKenzie; a brother,
Sam Monroe of McEwen; four grandchildren; and thirteen
great-grandchildren. Marie L. Maxey
Marie L. Maxey, 86, of Dresden, died Monday, March 9, 2009,
at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs.
Maxey were held Thursday, March 12, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin
Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Grove Hill
Cemetery in Dresden. Clyde Mabery officiated the services.
Mrs. Maxey was a housewife and a member of Grove Hill United
Methodist Church. She was born in Asheville, North Carolina to the
late Edward and Connie Owensby Lawrence. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Maxey was also preceded in death by a sister, Katie Lipe
Tarlton; and two brothers, Edward Lawrence and Jimmy Lawrence.
Mrs. Maxey is survived by her husband, Mr. Millard Harding
Maxey of Dresden; two daughters, Wendelene (Clyde) Mabery of
Greenville, South Carolina, and Anna Dawn (David) Creasman of
Asheville, North Carolina; a stepson, Richard (Betty) Maxey of
Martin; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren. Patricia Lee
Stegall
Patricia Lee Stegall, 58, of Greenfield, died Sunday, March
15, 2009, at her home. Funeral services for Miss Stegall were held
Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in
Greenfield. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery in Greenfield.
Phillip Costner and Donnie Cooper officiated the services.
Miss Stegall was a nurse at Cane Creek Rehab. She was born
March 22, 1950 in Milan. Miss Stegall was preceded in death by her
father, Henry Stegall.
Miss Stegall is survived by her mother, Betty Swindell Porter
of Greenfield; two stepsisters, Donna Kinderick of Alma, Alaska, and
Cheryle Costner of Van Buren, Alaska; a brother, Chuck Stegall of
Gleason; and a niece, Shasta Lamb of Gleason.
