Andrew Lee Edmontson
Andrew Lee Edmontson, 63, of Dresden, died Thursday, February
26, 2009, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Edmontson were held
Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel
in Dresden. Burial followed in Beech Grove Cemetery in Dresden. Bro.
James Newson officiated the services.
Mr. Edmontson was a welder for KT Clay Company and a member
of Beech Grove Gospel Church. He was born in Weakley County to
DoEthel Williams Edmontson and the late Simon Boston Edmontson. In
addition to his father, Mr. Edmontson was also preceded in death by
a sister, Betty Jane Edmontson.
Mr. Edmontson is survived by three sons, Timothy Stubblefield
of Marietta, Georgia, Dwight Burton of Detroit, Michigan, and Dwayne
Burton of Detroit, Michigan; his mother, Mrs. DoEthel Williams
Edmontson of Dresden; four sisters, Clara Booker of Harvey,
Illinois, Delois (John) Leach of Dresden, Joyce Edmontson of
Dresden, and Chelsea Edmontson of Dresden; and twenty-one
grandchildren.
Bettie Jane Boyd Robinson
Bettie Jane Boyd Robinson, 81, of Martin, died Monday, March
9, 2009, at Henderson County Community Hospital in Lexington.
Funeral services for Mrs. Robinson will be held today, Wednesday,
March 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin.
Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Mace Jett will
officiate the services.
Mrs. Robinson formerly worked at Sharon Manufacturing Company
and was a retired beautician. She was a member of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Robinson was born July 23, 1927 in Martin
to the late James W. Boyd and Ada King Boyd. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Robinson was also preceded in death by her husband,
Lucian Robinson; and a sister, Martha Sue Fuller.
Mrs. Robinson is survived by a son, Bob Robinson of Martin;
two daughters, Suzanne Buttrey of Martin, and Renee Melton of
Lexington; a sister, Ruby Bragg of Martin; eleven grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Charles Ray Martin
Charles Ray Martin, 56, of Gleason, died Saturday, February
28, 2009, at Roadway Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Martin were
held Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home
Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Rev.
Kenneth Price officiated the services.
Mr. Martin was born July 7, 1952 in Ridgely, Tennessee.
Mr. Martin is survived by his parents, Charlie Russell and
Allie Thomas Martin of Dresden; and a sister, Dola Mae O'Daniel of
Gleason.
Charles Theodore Spellings
Charles Theodore Spellings, 83, of Nashville, died Saturday,
March 7, 2009.
Mr. Spellings graduated high school in 1943 at the age of 17,
served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II,
and spent a career in the Heavy Construction Equipment Industry. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Joan Spellings, and is
survived by daughter, Sydney Kimbrough; son, Charles T. "Teddy"
Spellings, Jr.; daughter, Emma Stacy (Steven R. "Rusty") Ross; seven
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 9, 2009, at
3:00 p.m. at Brook Hollow Baptist Church with Tom Gholson
officiating. A private family graveside service was held at East
Side Cemetery in Martin.
Martha Lee Copeland
Martha Lee Copeland, 78, of Palmersville, died Sunday, March
1, 2009, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden.
Funeral services for Mrs. Copeland were held Tuesday, March 3, 2009,
at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial
followed in Morgan Cemetery in Palmersville. Bro. Tony Terrell
officiated the services.
Mrs. Copeland was a school bus driver for the Weakley County
School System and a member of Palmersville Baptist Church. She was
born in Weakley County to the late Leo and Millie Gatewood Hogard.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Copeland was also preceded in death
by her husband, Mr. David Earl Copeland.
Mrs. Copeland is survived by two daughters, Beverly Donoho of
Palmersville, and Jane (Van) Mayfield of Cedar Grove; a brother,
Warren Hogard of Memphis; four grandchildren, Jana Williams of
Bradford, Stephanie Kemp of Palmersville, Ashley Donoho of
Palmersville, and Lindsey Parham of Dresden; and one
great-grandchild, Brody Mac Kemp of Palmersville.
Mary Lee Mitchell
Mary Lee Mitchell, 84, of McKenzie, died Sunday, March 1,
2009, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden. Funeral
services for Mrs. Mitchell were held Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at
3:00 p.m. at Meredian Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in
Meredian Cemetery. Rev. Phil Mitchell officiated the services.
Mrs. Mitchell was retired from W.S. Wormser and was a member
of Meredian Presbyterian Church. She was born January 25, 1925 in
Greenfield to the late Hubert and Bertha Galloway Dunlap. In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was also preceded in death by
her husband, Otis A. Mitchell.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by a daughter, Jane Hopper of
McKenzie; a sister, Jane Blaylock of McKenzie; four grandchildren;
and four great-grandchildren.
Montel Adams Black
Montel Adams Black, born November 24, 1929, died March 6,
2009, in Hood River, Oregon. Born to RC and Ordell Adams of Dresden,
she grew up in Weakley County before moving to Henderson, Tennessee,
where she attended Freed Hardeman College. After college, she
married Edwin Black of Paradise, California. The two eventually
moved and settled in Sacramento, California, where they spent the
majority of their 59 years of marriage.
Mrs. Black is survived by her husband, Edwin; her four
children, Philip, Connie, Cynthia, and Tina; her eight
grandchildren, Valerie, Julian, Courtney, Caleb, Andrew, Alexander,
Daniel, and Jacob; her two great-grandchildren, Marissa and Wilson;
as well as her three brothers, Woody Adams, Marlin Adams, and Hugh
Adams.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009,
at the Hood River Church of Christ in Hood River, Oregon. A memorial
service will also be held in Sacramento, California in June.
