Alan Bivens
Alan Bivens, 40, of McKenzie, died Sunday, February 8, 2009,
at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Funeral services for Mr.
Bivens were held Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at
Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery in McKenzie. Bro. Kenny Carr officiated the services.
Mr. Bivens was born March 2, 1968 in Fulton, Kentucky.
Mr. Bivens is survived by his wife, Wendy Adams Bivens of
McKenzie; two sons, Tyler Bivens of Nashville, and Chaten Bivens of
McKenzie; a daughter, Kaila Bivens of Nashville; his father, Rudy
(Nona) Bivens of Jonesboro, Arkansas; his mother, Deloris Matlock of
McKenzie; a brother, Kenny (Susie) Bivens of Bells; and a sister,
Brenda Bivens of Gleason.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in memory
of Alan Bivens at the Bank of Gleason in McKenzie.
Dorothy Pentecost "Dot" Brundige
Dorothy Pentecost "Dot" Brundige, a resident of EdenBrook in
Plano, Texas, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009. She was 91. She was
the wife of the late Tilman Brownlow Brundige and mother of Suzanne
Brundige Wilson, Jennifer Brundige - deceased, and Timothy Kent
Brundige.
Born in Palmersville, she was the daughter of the late Clyde
C. and Zela Belle Pentecost; and sister of Clyde C. Pentecost, Jr.,
Jeanette P. Wallace, Roy M. Pentecost, and Betty Ruth Holwell - all
deceased. In addition to her children, she leaves 6 grandchildren,
and 6 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a
later date. Clyde Everett, Jr.
Clyde Everett, Jr., 77, of Dresden, died Monday, February 9,
2009, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Everett were held
Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home
Chapel. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon. Dr. Jerry
Summers officiated the services.
Mr. Everett was retired from the railroad and a veteran. He
was also a member of the Masons. Mr. Everett was born February 24,
1931 in Weakley County.
Mr. Everett is survived by his wife, Sue Everett of Dresden;
three sons, Phil Everett of Covington, Randy Everett of Springville,
and Rick (Jan) Everett of Dresden; and two grandchildren.
James Robertson
James Robertson, 80, died Monday, February 2, 2009, in a
hospital in Wheeling, Mississippi. No public services were held. He
was interred at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Corinth,
Mississippi.
Mr. Robertson was born April 13, 1928. He was a member of the
Dresden community for over 20 years and worked at local factories in
the community after retiring from the Navy. He was of Catholic
faith. Mr. Robertson is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy
Robertson of Chicago. They have three children, Christine, Jimmy and
Ronnie. They have three grandchildren, Star, Shane, and Desiree. He
remarried and is survived by Wilma Lee Robertson of Wheeling,
Mississippi; and two sisters, Rita Greene of Texarkana, Arkansas,
and Dorothy Hubbard of Marked Tree, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to
the American Cancer Society. Johnny Wayne
McClure
Johnny Wayne McClure, 58, of Martin, died Friday, February
13, 2009, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Funeral
services for Mr. McClure were held Monday, February 16, 2009, at
1:00 p.m. at Bible Union Baptist Church in Martin. Burial followed
in Acree Cemetery in Palmersville. Bro. Terry Griffin officiated the
services.
Mr. McClure was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He
was a member of Bible Union Baptist Church, where he was a member of
the Brotherhood and a choir member. Mr. McClure was born in Fulton,
Kentucky. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Sue McClure; a
brother, Jackie McClure; and his grandparents, James and LaVada
McClure, and Forest and Beulah Taylor Tyson.
Mr. McClure is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Ainley
McClure of Martin; two daughters, Tammy Lee (Bobby) Barnett of Wingo,
Kentucky, and Tina Carol (Jim) Frye of Newbern; his parents, Floyd
James and Jessie Tyson McClure of Tri City, Kentucky; a sister,
Karen (Barry) Barber of Palmersville; three brothers, Terry (Nancy)
McClure of Palmersville, Dennis McClure of Mayfield, Kentucky, Steve
(Rosalee) McClure of Tri City, Kentucky; and nine grandchildren.
Mabel E. Rainey
Mabel E. Rainey, 91, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, February
10, 2009, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Graveside services for
Mrs. Rainey were held Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at
Hornbeak Cemetery in Greenfield. Randy Stacey officiated the
services.
Mrs. Rainey was a health care employee for Weakley County
Nursing Home. She was born September 10, 1917 in Greenfield to the
late William Ward and Mattie McLeary. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Rainey was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William
Rainey; and a son, Major Hal Rainey.
Mrs. Rainey is survived by two sons, Ron Rainey of Medon,
Tennessee, and Dan Rainey of Greenfield; and a sister, Virginia
Barton of Brookhaven, Mississippi. Redelle
Joy Stewart
Redelle Joy Stewart, 68, of Martin, died Friday, February 13,
2009, at Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Celebration of
life services were held at the home of her daughter, Michelle
Jordan, on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.
Ms. Stewart was a waitress. She was born May 16, 1940 in
Highland Park, Michigan to the late John Charles Stewart and Helen
Redelle Nye Stewart. In addition to her parents, Ms. Stewart was
also preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Boucher.
Ms. Stewart is survived by a son, Dean Aquilina of
Greenville, South Carolina; three daughters, Kimiko White of
Lavergne, Tina Stover of Martin, and Michelle Jordan of Martin;
eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
