Clovis H. Durham

    Clovis H. Durham, 83, of Dresden, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Durham were held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Nathan Horton officiated the services.
    Mr. Durham was an assembly worker for Martin Brothers Container and Box Co. and was a member of the Dresden Church of Christ. He was born in Hohenwald to the late C.A. and Waymon Nutt Durham. In addition to his parents, Mr. Durham was also preceded in death by two wives, Mrs. Ruby Jean Durham, and Mrs. Gracie Hamm Durham; a daughter, Doris Smoron; and a brother, William Durham.
    Mr. Durham is survived by three daughters, Ann (Robert) Gurley of Dresden, Shirley Turnbo of Dresden, and Connie Gallimore of McKenzie; three sons, Roger (Kelli) Durham of Union City, Joe (Dianne) Durham of Dresden, and Mack Durham of Dresden; four brothers, Golden Durham of Toledo, Ohio, Gene Durham of Hohenwald, Cranford Durham of Hohenwald, and Tommy Durham of Hohenwald; twenty-three grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Elva Pearl Hawkins

    Elva Pearl Hawkins, 94, of Sharon, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Volunteer Community Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Hawkins were held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Sidonia Baptist Church. Burial followed in Tansil Cemetery in Sharon. Bro. Jim Garner and Bro. Tommy Harrison officiated the services.
    Mrs. Hawkins was a homemaker. She was born September 16, 1914 in Sharon to the late Stewart and Minnie Lee. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawkins was also preceded in death by her husband, Claud Hawkins; three brothers, Everett Lee, Dalton Lee, and James Lee; and four sisters, Ardel Cooper, Clora Bell, Etheline Scearce, and Beulah Mae Morgan.
    Mrs. Hawkins is survived by two sons, Lloyd (Nelda Kay) Hawkins of Sharon, and Ronnie (Joyce) Hawkins of Cordova, Tennessee; a daughter, Frances (Lee) Riser of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Anza Rachels of Sharon; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lee, and Suzie Lee of Sharon.

Florence Mary Donoho Ethridge

    Florence Mary Donoho Ethridge, 91, of Martin, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Center in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Ethridge were held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Bill Tate officiated the services.
    Mrs. Ethridge was retired from the University of Tennessee at Martin Library and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was born December 23, 1917 to the late Luther Albert Donoho and Minnie Florence Cardwell Donoho. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ethridge was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Ethridge; a son, John Paul Ethridge; a stepdaughter, Mary Bassenger; two brothers, Jack Donoho and David Donoho; and a sister, Dorothy Kaufman.
    Mrs. Ethridge is survived by a son, Jim Ethridge of Paducah, Kentucky; a stepson, Sammy Ethridge of Escondido, California; and two grandchildren, Kevin Ethridge of Murray, Kentucky, and Chris Ethridge of Murray, Kentucky.

Gene Tucker

    Gene Tucker, 76, of Gleason, died March 19, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Nashville.
    He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathy Tucker of Gleason; son, Robert Tucker of Gleason; daughter, Teresa (Matt) Armstrong of Union City; and granddaughter, Aubrie Armstrong. He is also survived by brothers, Marvin Tucker and Ken Tucker; sisters, Doris Jones, Nancy Nickelson, Brenda Smith, and Jan Westfall.
    Services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Butler Cemetery in Gleason with a gathering at the Tucker home to follow.

Ivie Nell Wright

    Ivie Nell Wright, 80, of Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away on March 28, 2009. A memorial service was held in Fort Myers on March 31. Funeral services were held April 4 at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield and were conducted by Mrs. Wright's nephew, Rev. G.W. Moon, and by Rev. Darrell Pollock. Burial followed at Corinth Cemetery in Sharon.
    Mrs. Wright was born in Dresden on June 4, 1928 to Lum and Ottie Bell Tilley. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Mrs. Wright performed volunteer work in schools and nursing homes for many years. Mrs. Wright lived in Chicago, then Lansing, Michigan in the early 1950's, then in Florida in the mid 80's. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Aline Allman, Mrs. Mary Francis Moon, Mrs. Modene Sandefer, and Mrs. Joy Asher.
    Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband of 61+ years, William E. Wright; son, Ronald Wright of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; daughter, Jerri Singer of Fort Myers, Florida; her only brother, Mr. J.F. Tilley of Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren, Erika Saulsbury, Mitchell Stevens, and great-grandchildren, Trevor Rothe and Vanessa Saulsbury, all of Fort Myers, Florida.

Joyce Blanche Reeves

    Joyce Blanche Reeves, 63, of Martin, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Memorial services for Mrs. Reeves will be held Friday, April 10, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Casey-Laskowski Funeral Home in Chicago, Illinois. Burial was in Montrose Cemetery in Chicago.
    Mrs. Reeves was a Restaurant Employee and a Chicago Style Hotdog Vendor. She was a Catholic by faith. Mrs. Reeves was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Oliver and Marie Kestezka Lavalley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reeves was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Dwight Duke Reeves; a son, David Reeves; and a brother, Robbie Lavalley.
    Mrs. Reeves is survived by two daughters, Rose (Peter) Delisle of Medon, Tennessee, and Tracie (Kevin) Freeman of Dresden; two sons, Dwight Reeves of Chicago, Illinois, and Joseph (Monica) Reeves of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters, Roseann Roman of Pontiac, Illinois, and Shirley Lavelley of Florida; three brothers, Johnny Lavalley of Chicago, Illinois, Billy Lavalley of Chicago, Illinois, and Jim Lavalley of Pontiac, Illinois; and thirteen grandchildren.

Sue Ellen Pritchett

    Sue Ellen Pritchett, 90, died peacefully on March 31st in the home of her daughter, Judith Ann Wade of Memphis. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Dresden Methodist Church with Bowlin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Officiating the service was Jerry Sowards and Rev. Stan McDaniel.
    Sue Ellen was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Sandefer of Dresden. She was a citizen of this community all of her life, teaching piano in Dresden for 40 years until her retirement in 2006. She was also a life-long member of the Dresden Methodist Church, where she served as pianist, choir director, and youth leader. Her Christian faith was an example to many.
    In 1940, she married James Prentiss Pritchett of Dresden; and they became the parents of two daughters, Judith Ann Wade of Memphis, and Janey Sue Williams of Lexington, with whom she was very involved through her leadership in the Girl Scouts and the Dresden PTA. She was known for opening her kitchen to many social events, both for her family and church.
    Other survivors include three grandchildren, Gabe Williams of Lexington, and Lisa Fairchild and Jenny Williams, both of Memphis. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Marina Law of Memphis, and Lacey and Carly Williams of Lexington.
    The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Crossroads Hospice of Tennessee, LLC, Jean Harrison - Executive Director, 1669 Shelby Oaks Drive #106, Memphis, TN 38134 or to the Dresden Methodist Church Choir or Building Fund.
 

Teddy Davis

    Teddy Davis, 58, of South Fulton, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at Hillview Community Living Center in Dresden. Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held Monday, April 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton. Burial followed in Johnson Grove Cemetery. Rev. Danny Potts officiated the services.
    Mr. Davis was employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 28 and a half years, where he worked in the Tubers Department. He was born November 10, 1950 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Charles Wayne and Mercile (Biggs) Davis, and lived in this area most of his life. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Davis.
    Mr. Davis is survived by a son, Joe Wayne Davis of South Fulton; and a grandson, Joe Austin Davis of Union City.

William Glen Crutchfield

    William Glen Crutchfield, born October 7, 1934, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
    Mr. Crutchfield was a veteran of the United States Army. From a family farm in Martin, Mr. Crutchfield ultimately became synonymous with Memphis' Dobbs Ford dealerships.
    Mr. Crutchfield is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virgie; their four daughters and three sons-in-law, Cindy White, Patty and Jimmy Rotenberry, Candie and Steve Butler, and Beth and Stephen Stone; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Emily White, Justin, Christopher, Jonathan and Kristen Rotenberry, Christina and Faith Butler, Boston Stone and Jasmine Rotenberry. He is also survived by his sisters, Joy Adams of Martin, and Linda Russell of Pompano Beach, Florida.
    Funeral services were held Monday, April 6, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett.
    The family requests that memorials be sent to Faith Baptist Church, 3755 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN.

William Rhea O'Guinn

    William Rhea O'Guinn was born on April 7, 1920 in Keeley's Mill, Tennessee. He was lost in death on April 1, 2009. He was a longtime resident of Greenfield and for the past five years had resided in Columbia, Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII under the command of General Patton. Mr. O'Guinn was the manager of M&B Motor Company in Greenfield for over 35 years.
    He is preceded in death by his father, Fayette O'Guinn; mother, Mary Ellen O'Guinn; and a sister, Inez Pillow, all of Bradford. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Aylor O'Guinn, formerly of Greenfield, and now a resident of Columbia; daughter, Kaye O'Guinn Smith (Phain); granddaughters, Vallie Smith Collins (Steve) of Maryville, Tennessee, and Shea Smith Truitt (Jeffrey) of Columbia; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Luke and Cade Collins, and Lainey and Beau Walker Truitt.
    Graveside funeral services were held Friday, April 3, 2009, at Highland Cemetery in Greenfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home, P.O. Box Drawer G, Denton, TX 76202-9956.
