Allie A. Rodgers
Allie A. Rodgers, 65, of South Fulton, died Monday, March 23,
2009, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Funeral services for
Mrs. Rodgers were held Friday, March 27, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at
Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton. Burial followed in New Hope
Baptist Cemetery in Latham.
Mrs. Rodgers had been a case worker for the Kentucky
Department of Human Resources and a member of the First United
Pentecostal Church in Martin. She was born July 6, 1943 in Weakley
County to the late George and Lucille (Henderson) Atkinson. Mrs.
Rodgers had lived in this area most of her life. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Rodgers was also preceded in death by her husband,
David L. Rodgers on January 19, 2009.
Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her children and their spouses,
Danial L. Brogglin (Marilyn R.) of South Fulton, Donald W. Brogglin
(Lori) of Fulton, and Della Whitman (Jeff Frey) of South Fulton; six
grandchildren, John Danial L. Brogglin of South Fulton, Donald W.
Brogglin, II of Union City, Ryan L. Whitman of Dawson Springs,
Kentucky, Michael J. Brogglin of Union City, Jeffrey S. Brogglin of
Fulton, and Jylin S. Brogglin of Fulton; twelve step-grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; a sister, Joicy Morris of Water Valley,
Kentucky; and a brother, Kenneth Atkinson of Alsip, Illinois.
Dan Richard Pettie
Dan Richard Pettie, 76, of Dresden, died Friday, March 27,
2009, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Graveside services
for Mr. Pettie were held Sunday, March 29, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at
Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Mike Tucker officiated the services.
Mr. Pettie was a retired School Teacher and Attendance
Supervisor for Weakley County Schools. He was also an Air Force
Airman 1st Class Veteran having served in the Korean War. Mr. Pettie
was a 1949 graduate of Dresden High School and a member of Dresden
Church of Christ. He was born in Weakley County to the late Carnell
and Eddie Ozell Freeman Pettie.
Mr. Pettie is survived by cousins, Mike Pettie of Paris,
Trudy Freeman of Greenfield, Jimmy Freeman of Greenfield, Cindy
Scott of Knoxville, Penny Kirby of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and
James Robert Hatler of Gleason. Deborah
Bodkin Lister
Deborah (Debbie) Bodkin Lister, 58, of Pulaski, Tennessee,
died Sunday, March 22, 2009. Memorial services were held March 26,
2009, at Mount Olivet Church in Pulaski.
Mrs. Lister was in the nursing profession before becoming
disabled. She previously lived in Martin prior to getting her
nursing degree and was a long time employee of Damron's BBQ. Mrs.
Lister was born December 15, 1950 and is preceded in death by her
parents, James Clarence and Lora Bodkin; and a brother, Ronnie
Bodkin.
Mrs. Lister is survived by three daughters, Kim (Mitch)
Clark, Sherry Markowski, and April Lister; three sisters, Paula
(Charles) Robertson of Dresden, Bonnie Cotton of McKenzie, and
Teresa Bodkin of Dresden; and six grandchildren.
Elsie Lendell Bradberry
Elsie Lendell Bradberry, 82, of Dresden, died Thursday, March
26, 2009, at Henry County Health Care Center. Funeral services for
Mrs. Bradberry were held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at
Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon. Burial followed in Eastside
Cemetery. Bro. Keith Sumner officiated the services.
Mrs. Bradberry was a homemaker. She was born September 19,
1926 in Sharon to the late Thomas and Ethel Williams. In addition to
her parents, Mrs. Bradberry was also preceded in death by her
husband, George Bradberry; and a sister, Bonnie Danner.
Mrs. Bradberry is survived by a daughter, Deborah Adams of
Dresden; three sisters, Marjorie (Davis) Van Skike of Dresden,
Margaret Warren of Kimberling City, Missouri, and Katie (Bobby)
Wheat of Dresden; five brothers, Bro. Kenneth (Norma) Williams of
Dresden, Charles (Betty) Williams of Phil Campbell, Alabama, Doyle
Williams of Chicago, Illinois, Harold (Ruth Ann) Williams of Martin,
and Richard (Diann) Williams of Dresden; a brother-in-law, Carl
Danner, Jr. of Martin; and three grandchildren.
John Walter Burt
John Walter Burt, 63, of Union City, died Monday, March 23,
2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Funeral services
were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at White-Ranson
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Burton officiating. Burial followed
in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
He was born July 1, 1945, in Weakley County, son of Opal
(McClain) Burt of Dresden and the late R.T. Burt. He married the
former Patsy Marie Williams on October 23, 1984. She survives. He
was a retired employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he
worked for almost 30 years, and was a U.S. Army National Guard
veteran and a member of Woodland Mills First Baptist Church.
He is also survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law,
Ginger Ann and Nathan Tanner of Troy, Shelly and James White of
Smyrna, and Hope Marie Burt of Union City; two sons and his
daughter-in-law, Christopher and Tanya Stewart of Munford, and Jake
Burt of Union City; six grandchildren; and his sister and
brother-in-law, Ann and Kenneth Casey of Union City.
The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County
Hometown Walk of Hope. Rosa Lee Trevathan
Rosa Lee Trevathan, 94, of Gleason, died Monday, March 23,
2009. Funeral services for Mrs. Trevathan were held Wednesday, March
25, 2009, at the Gleason First United Methodist Church. Burial
followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
Mrs. Trevathan was the daughter of Mary Frances and William
White. She was born May 2, 1917, in the Ward's Chapel Community near
Gleason. She was the mother of Rubye Snider (Billy Wayne), Kaye
Hynds (Jim), Rosemary Evans, Nancy Wyman (Dave), Sue Price, Jeter
Trevathan, and Anita Knowles (Bob). She also leaves a
daughter-in-law, Brenda Trevathan; twenty grandchildren;
twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years,
Ellis Frank Trevathan; her son, Frankie Trevathan; and her grandson,
Alan Snider. Virginia L. Woods
Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Lee Williams Woods, age
83, were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009, in the Chapel
of Pafford Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Beecham and Bro. Darrell
Pollock officiating. Burial followed in the Palestine Cemetery near
Lexington.
Mrs. Woods, the daughter of the late Samuel David and Leonia
Wallace Williams, died Sunday morning, March 22, 2009, in Martin.
She was a homemaker and member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church
of Kenton.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Grant of Dresden,
and Patsy Hart of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; three grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
