The Westview Lady Chargers and Chargers picked up some

sweeping rival Dresden at Westview High School.
The Lady Charger fought off a persistent Dresden girls team
to take a 58-36 win while the Westview boys cruised to an
82-52 victory.

After a tight first frame, the Lady Chargers built a
double-digit lead then added to it in the second half to
take the 22-point win.
Leading by five after the opening quarter, the Lady Chargers
wasted little time adding to the lead as jumpers from Grace
Ann Swaim and Breanna Pitcher pushed the Westview advantage
to 17-8. Dresden got a layup from Marlee Mason and three
free throws from Erica Glisson to cut into the Lady Charger
lead, but a late Westview jumper made the score 24-14 at the
half.
Westview seemed ready to put the game out of reach as
three-pointers from B.B. Brooks and Amber Rechis helped the
Lady Chargers take a 40-19 lead late into the third frame.
But, a three-pointer from Erica Glisson and five points from
Amy Reddick cut the lead back to 40-27 at the end of three
frames.
Dresden cut the lead down to a dozen early in the final frame
as Mason hit a short bucket, but that was a close as the
Lady Lions got as Westview outscored Dresden 15-5 over the
final five minutes to seal the win for the Lady Chargers.

The Gleason Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs each suffered their

heartbreaker while the boys dropped a 62-48 decision to the
Lions.

The Lady Bulldogs saw their halftime lead evaporate quickly
in the second half, but were able to take a lead late into
the final frame before Camden got four late points to take
the win.
Gleason’s seven-point lead at the break shrank quickly in the
second half as a layup from Keara White cut the lead to
30-27. Gleason responded with buckets from Kim Edenfield,
Sara Hensley and Taylor Stout to build the Lady Bulldog lead
back to seven points. But, a 7-0 Lady Lion run tied the game
late in the frame. A Taylor Stout jumper with four seconds
left in the frame gave Gleason a 38-36 lead at the end of
three quarters.
Camden got a 9-2 run to open the final frame and took a
four-point lead midway through the quarter. But, a pair of
Edenfield three-pointers put the Lady Bulldogs back on top
with 3:45 left in the game. Camden retook the lead with a
White jumper, but Edenfield responded with a pair of free
throws followed by a Stout jumper. But, the Lady Lions got a
pair of free throws from Amanda Brandenberg and a jumper
from Heather Capps to retake the lead late in the final
frame. The Lady Bulldogs held for the final shot, but were
unable to convert their final attempt.
Kenna Frazier led the way for Gleason with 15 points while
Edenfield added 13.
Brandenberg led the way for Camden with 23 points while Capps
scored 10.
