Hudson officially invited to NBA's Pre-Draft Camp |
UT Martin's Lester Hudson has been officially invited to the
NBA's Pre-Draft Camp in Orlando, according to Skyhawk head
coach Bret Campbell and FoxSports.com's Jeff Goodman.
The pre-draft camp starts Tuesday, May 27 and goes through
Friday, May 30.
Some of the others who have officially been invited to the
camp with Hudson include Memphis' Joey Dorsey, Louisville's
David Padgett, Kansas' Russell Robinson, Darnell Jackson and
Sasha Kaun and Tennessee State's Bruce Price.
Goodman reports that Kansas' Mario Chalmers, Rider's Jason
Thompson, Nevada's JaVelle McGee, Syracuse's Donte Green,
and Memphis' Chris Douglas-Roberts will pass on playing in
the game.
Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo and Danilo Gallinari
have been invited to the camp but as physical-only players.
Hudson put together one of the best all-around seasons in
Ohio Valley Conference history in 2007-08 and helped his
team make a six-game improvement in its league record. The
Skyhawks were picked last (11th) in a preseason poll but
finished fourth and qualified for the OVC Tournament.

UTM golfer has quality showing at State Open Championship |
|
The University of Tennessee at Martin's Brad Stevens used a
final-round even-par 71 to finish among the top golfers in
the state of Tennessee at the SunTrust State Open
Championship presented by Coca-Cola. The Brentwood native
recovered from a 3-over-par opening round to make a
second-round push to make the cut, followed by a final-round
surge that landed him in a tie for 43rd position.
Held this year at the Gaylord Springs Golf Links in Nashville
and hosted by the Tennessee Golf Association, the SunTrust
State Open Championship presented by Coca-Cola is one of
Tennessee's oldest and most prestigious championships. The
three-day event annually pits the state's top amateurs and
professionals against each other to determine a true state
golf champion. This year's field featured 125 participants,
who qualified for the field by being one of the top
finishers in nine qualifying tournaments across the state.
Stephens, who just completed his junior season with the
Skyhawks, used a pair of birdies on the back-nine to move up
13 spots on the leader board over the final holes. After
posting a birdie on the 524 yard par-5 No. 12 for the second
consecutive day, Stevens added a birdie on the 394 par-4 No.
17 to solidify his spot on the leader board.
