Belote signs with Skyhawk softball |
The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team has
signed local product Emily Belote, of Martin's Westview High
School to join the Skyhawk squad in the fall. Belote,
who helped guide her Charger team to a Tennessee State
Tournament appearance this season, will be a welcomed
addition to the squad with her speed and championship
experience.
Belote was a three-sport athlete at Westview, playing both
soccer and basketball in addition to softball. On the
soccer field, Belote was named forward of the year for three
consecutive seasons while also garnering all-district and
all-region accolades those same years. In 2005, she
was named to the All-West Tennessee and led her team in
goals scored.

Former Skyhawk to pitch in Independent League |
Former University of Tennessee at Martin baseball pitcher
Calen Sutton signed a free agent contact Monday to pitch for
the Lincoln (Nebraska) Saltdogs of Professional Baseball's
Independent League.
Sutton, a 6-3 right-hander, completed his college career at
UT Martin last month, where he thrived after joining the
starting rotation midway through h is senior season.
He posted a 4-3 record and a 4.92 ERA in 20 games, including
seven starts, and recorded three complete games.
