Despite a 15-point third-quarter lead, the Westview Chargers
found themselves going into overtime after a late run in
that frame tied the score at the end of that frame.
After nothing was decided after the fourth frame, Westview
escaped with a 77-23 win in overtime over Fulton County in
the final game of the opening night of the annual Lions Club
Christmas Tournament on Thursday night at Westview High
School.
Earlier in the night, in girls action, the Lady Chargers had
no trouble with Fulton City, defeating the Lady Bulldogs
60-21.

Fulton County Pilots 73 OT
The Chargers saw a 15-point lead disappear in just over
three minutes, then were forced to fight for the win in the
fourth frame as well as an extra period before taking the
four-point win.
A three-pointer from Marcus Easley and a jumper from Ryan
Banks put Westview ahead 47-32 with 3:21 left in the third
frame. But, a pair of Pilot treys sparked a 19-4 run
that was capped by two three-pointers from Fulton County to
tie the game at 51-51 after three frames.
Westview retook the lead early in the fourth frame after a
Travis Hayslett free throw. But, Fulton County
answered back with a jumper from Pilot to spark a 10-2 run
to take a six-point lead with 4:19 left in regulation.
But, Hayslett retaliated with a jumper to spark a quickie
6-0 lead to tie the game at 61-61 with 2:46 remaining.
Leonard Smith put up a deuce, but that was answered by a
Hayslett tally. After a Fulton County jumper, four
free throws from Easley gave Westview a two-point lead with
six seconds left. But, a late foul proved costly and
Pilot hit both free throws to send the game into overtime.
