Claudine Moon Peery
Claudine Moon Peery, 96, of Grand Junction, Tennessee, died
Friday, September 19, 2008, at Alliance Hospital in Holly Springs,
Mississippi. Funeral services for Mrs. Peery were held Monday,
September 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin.
Burial followed in Cates Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Lynn Walker
officiated the services.
Mrs. Peery was a homemaker and a member of East Side Baptist
Church. She was born April 21, 1912 in Weakley County to the late
Patrick Henry Moon and Cora Crockett Moon. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Peery was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne
Peery; four brothers, Lee Moon, Hurbert Moon, Jessie Moon, and Allan
Moon; and three sisters, Frances Moon, Alva Brooks, and Elvin Adams.
Mrs. Peery is survived by a son, Gene Peery of Springville; a
daughter, Betty Kee of Grand Junction; three grandchildren, Robert
Wayne Peery of Camden, Rhonda Jean Mills of Martin, and Christy
Brasher of Jackson; seven great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren. Coach Ronnie L.
Lewellen
Coach Ronnie L. Lewellen, 66, of Dresden, died Tuesday,
September 16, 2008, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral services for Coach Lewellen were held Saturday, September
20, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life
Center in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Rev. Eugene McDonald, Dr. Don McCulley, and Mark Maddox officiated
the services.
Coach Lewellen was a former football coach, principal and was
currently a State Farm Insurance Agent. He was a member of Dresden
First Baptist Church. Coach Lewellen was a former school board
member, past president of Dresden Rotary Club, member of the UTM
Chest of the Gridiron, member of the UTM Football Hall of Fame,
served on the UTM Alumni Council, was drafted in the 7th round by
the Oakland Raiders, and was retired from the Tennessee Army
National Guard. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late
Mary Elizabeth Lewellen Haston.
Coach Lewellen is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emily Anne Petty
Lewellen of Dresden; a daughter, Jean Wainscott of Dresden; a son,
David (Amy) Lewellen of Dresden; a sister, Vicky (Jim) Phillips of
Dresden; and five grandchildren, Jay and Cayce Wainscott, Megan
Scarbrough, Will and Mabry Lewellen, all of Dresden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dresden High School
Football Alumni Fund at BancorpSouth or to the building fund at
First Baptist Church in Dresden. Gardner F.
Damron, Sr.
Gardner F. Damron, Sr., 87, of Martin, died Wednesday,
September 17, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Graveside services for Mr. Damron were held at East Side Cemetery in
Martin. Rev. Franklin Gardner officiated the services.
Mr. Damron formerly owned Damron Trucking Company and was a
member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was elected to the
Tennessee General Assembly - State Representative - 81st General
Assembly - 1959-1961. He was a graduate of Martin High School. Mr.
Damron was born June 9, 1921 in Martin to the late Hall Damron and
Alberta Gardner Damron. In addition to his parents, Mr. Damron was
also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Damron.
Mr. Damron is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sue Tate Damron of
Martin; a son, Faine Damron of Martin; a daughter, Martha Jo Damron
of Martin; a sister, Josephine Damron of Martin; two grandchildren,
T.J. Damron of Martin, and Perry Bowlin of Martin; and two
great-grandchildren, Ryan Gardner Damron and Rachel Bowlin.
Katie Frances Garrigus
Katie Frances Garrigus, 70, of South Paris, formerly of
Dresden, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at St. Thomas Hospital in
Nashville. Graveside services for Mrs. Garrigus were held Sunday,
September 14, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Dr.
Gary S. Collier of Paris officiated the services.
Mrs. Garrigus was a professional seamstress and homemaker.
She was a Baptist by faith. Mrs. Garrigus was born April 14, 1938 in
Carroll County to the late Robert Lee and Mary Ann Townsend Clifton.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garrigus was also preceded in death
by a son, who was 22 months of age, Warren Clifton "Bubber" Garrigus;
two sisters, Mary Gertrude Clifton and Elizabeth Louise French;
seven brothers, Phillip Eugene Clifton, Hubert Lee Clifton, W.G.
Clifton, Odell Clifton, Lewis Wayne Clifton, J.T. Clifton, and
William "Bill" Clifton; and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Garrigus is survived by her husband, whom she married
May 7, 1966, Harvey Garrigus of Paris; three daughters, Sally LaRue
Smith of Paris, Mary (Jerry) Jordan of Paris, and Judy (Jeff) Davis
of Paris; a son, Harvey (Kim) Garrigus, Jr. of Sedalia, Kentucky;
six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Raymond Patrick
Raymond Patrick, 56, of Dresden, died Sunday, September 14,
2008, in Dresden. Funeral services for Mr. Patrick were held
Saturday, September 20, 2008, in Plymouth, Ohio. Burial was in Maple
Grove Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio.
Mr. Patrick was a construction laborer. He was a native of
Huron County, Ohio and the son of the late Joseph and Lela Patrick.
Mr. Patrick is survived by nine sisters, Wilma Bradley of
Sturgiss, Michigan, Oma Hall of Shelby, Ohio, Jeanett Hall of Allen
Park, Michigan, Carolyn Hall of Shelby, Ohio, Geneva Wolfenbarger of
Bucyrus, Ohio, Barbara Issac of Willard, Ohio, Judy Floyd of
Dresden, Brenda Volz of Willard, Ohio, and Kimberly Volz of Shelby,
Ohio.
