George Francis Ognibene
George Francis Ognibene, 70, of McKenzie, died Sunday,
October 5, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were
Tuesday, October 7, at 11 a.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro.
Greg Barker officiating. Burial followed at 3 p.m. in Oak Grove
Cemetery near Lexington with Bro. Dennis Trull officiating.
Mr. Ognibene was born December 7, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois
to the late Francis Patrick Ognibene and Stella Rakowski Ognibene.
He was a traffic manager for the WF Hall Printing Company in
Dresden, a U.S. Army veteran, and member of McKenzie First Baptist
Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Beulah Mae Keen Ognibene of
McKenzie; one daughter, Patricia Ann (Steve) Cothran of Milan; one
son, George (Jennifer) Ognibene of McKenzie; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the McKenzie First Baptist Church
Youth Ministry Fund or the Relay for Life for Carroll North.
Josephine "Jo" Damron
Josephine "Jo" Damron, 88, of Martin, died Thursday, October
9, 2008, at Martin Health Care. Graveside services for Miss Damron
were held Saturday, October 11, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at East Side
Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Franklin Gardner officiated the services.
Miss Damron was a beautician and before her retirement owned
and operated Jo's Beauty Shop. She was a member of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. Miss Damron was born February 20, 1920 in
Weakley County to the late Hall Damron and Alberta Gardner Damron.
In addition to her parents, Miss Damron was also preceded in death
by a brother, Gardner F. Damron.
Miss Damron is survived by a niece, Martha Jo Damron of
Martin; a nephew, Fain Damron of Martin; and great-nephews, Perry
Bowlin of Martin, and T.J. Damron of Martin.
Mitchell Britt Mansfield
Mitchell Britt Mansfield, 87, of Palmersville, died Saturday,
October 4, 2008, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in
Dresden. Funeral services for Mr. Mansfield were held Tuesday,
October 7, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in
Dresden. Burial followed in Mack's Grove Cemetery in Dresden. Bro.
Bob Conley and Bro. Kieth Dublin officiated the services.
Mr. Mansfield was a farmer and a dairyman. He was also a Navy
veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific. Mr.
Mansfield was a member of Palmersville Missionary Baptist Church and
a 62-year member of American Legion #94. He was born in Palmersville
to the late Erwin F. and Vera Byars Mansfield.
Mr. Mansfield is survived by his wife, Mrs. May Ardell Eaves
Mansfield of Dresden; a sister, Peggy M. Woodruff of Memphis; a
brother, Porter (Mary Jo) Mansfield of Hendersonville; and several
nieces and nephews.
Ruth Anne James
Ruth Anne James, 91, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, October 5,
2008, at Dyersburg Manor. Graveside services for Mrs. James were
held Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Highland Cemetery in Greenfield.
Jim Chamblee officiated the services.
Mrs. James was a homemaker and attended Greenfield Church of
Christ. She was born July 7, 1917 in Greenfield to the late Harry
Whities and Stella Harris. In addition to her parents, Mrs. James
was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil James.
Mrs. James is survived by three sons, Larry James of
Dyersburg, Steve James of Bartlett, and Mart James of Dyersburg.
Sharon Ann Wyatt Jennings
Sharon Ann Wyatt Jennings, 58, of Dresden, died Tuesday,
September 30, 2008, at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Memorial
services for Mrs. Jennings were held Saturday, October 11, 2008, at
11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Gerald Pryor
officiated the services.
Mrs. Jennings was a Nurses Aide at Weakley County Rehab and
Nursing Center in Dresden. She was born in Riverside, California.
Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Comple "Jim"
Jennings; a son, Jose Jennings; and her mother, Bobbie Lee Devault
Wyatt.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by a daughter, Terri Jennings; her
father, Mr. Richard Halford Wyatt of Henry; three brothers, Darrell
C. Wyatt of Nashville, Richard Dan Wyatt of Paris, and Johnny Ray
Wyatt of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and four grandchildren.
