Bonnie Lou Taylor
Bonnie Lou Taylor, 92, of Sharon, died Friday, May 23, 2008,
at Martin Health Care. Funeral services for Ms. Taylor were
held Friday, May 23, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist
Church. Burial followed in Tansil Cemetery in Sharon. Dr.
Jerry Summers and Robert Barber officiated the services.
Ms. Taylor was a homemaker. She was born July 24, 1915 in
Weakley County.
Ms. Taylor is survived by a daughter, Linda (Jerry) Barber of
Sharon; two brothers, Joseph Harold (Geri) Hawkins of
Lakeland, Tennessee, and Wayne Hawkins of Northlake,
Illinois; four sisters, Carolyn Jones of Sharon, Susie Lee
of Sharon, Dorothy Morris of Dresden, and Dimple Newsom of
Sharon; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Donald Elvis Seymour
Donald Elvis Seymour, 85, of Sharon, died Monday, May 19,
2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Seymour were
held Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral
Home Chapel in Sharon. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove
Cemetery in Sharon. Bro. Tommy Harrison officiated the
services.
Mr. Seymour worked in the manufacturing industry and was a
veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving in WWII.
He was born October 27, 1922 in Sidonia.
Mr. Seymour is survived by two sons, Douglas (Deana) Seymour
of Jackson, and Jerome (Elaine) Seymour of Martin; a sister,
Helen Vance of Paris; three grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Helen Jean Clark
Helen Jean Clark, 72, of Greenfield, died Monday, May 19,
2008. Funeral services for Ms. Clark were held Wednesday,
May 21, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in
Greenfield. Burial followed in Brock's Cemetery in
Greenfield. Wayne Perkins officiated the services.
Ms. Clark worked for WSW of Sharon as an accountant and was a
member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was born December 25,
1935 in Greenfield to the late Harry Lee Puckett and Stella
Grissom Puckett.
Ms. Clark is survived by a daughter, Janet Lea Paschall of
Greenfield; a sister, Gerald Dean Gaston of Warner Robbins,
Georgia; five grandchildren, including a grandson, Chad
Paschall of Greenfield.
Patricia A. Spence
Patricia A. Spence, 57, of Rockford, Illinois, died Monday,
May 12, 2008, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Funeral
services for Ms. Spence were held Monday, May 19, 2008, at
11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in Sharon. Burial
followed in Brock's Cemetery in Greenfield. Bro. Jim
Barnhouse officiated the services.
Ms. Spence was born November 30, 1950, in Chicago, the
daughter of Lawrence and Olga (Raney) Spence. She had lived
in Rockford since 1960, moving there from Elmhurst. Ms.
Spence was formerly employed by Rockford Housing Authority
as an assistant personnel manager. She was a member of
Christ Lutheran Church, Alabet Temple Daughters of the Nile
31, past matron of Cherry Valley/Adelin Order of Eastern
Star 119 and was a mother advisor of Rockford Rainbow Girls.
She graduated from Guilford High School and attended the
University of Tennessee at Martin.
Survivors include her parents, Larry and Olga Spence of
Rockford, Illinois; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Reba Irene Gearin Kinney
Reba Irene Gearin Kinney, 82, of Dresden, died Tuesday, May
20, 2008, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Kinney were
held Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral
Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery
in Gleason. Bro. Steve Gearin officiated the services.
Mrs. Kinney was a retired factory employee for Callins
Industries and she was a Baptist by faith. Mrs. Kinney was
born February 23, 1926 in Palmersville.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Burney) Miles of
Sharon, and Linda Doster of Dresden; two sons, Ronnie (Tonya
Snider) Gearin of Dresden, and Johnny (Hazel) Gearin of
Trenton; a sister, Helen Morgan of Jackson; eight
grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Sandra Gail "Sonnie" Nichols
Sandra Gail "Sonnie" Nichols, 68, of Milan, died Wednesday,
May 21, 2008, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Graveside services for Mrs. Nichols were held Saturday, May
24, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at Cates Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth
Baker officiated the services.
Mrs. Nichols was an assembly worker for Zenith Corporation
and was a Pentecostal by faith. She was born July 20, 1939
in Martin to the late Truman Jones and Birtie Wilburn Jones.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nichols was also preceded
in death by three sisters, June Cullipher, Mary Porter
Jones, and Ann Jones.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by her husband, Mr. Charles Ray
Nichols of Milan; a son, Charles Garvin Nichols of Milan;
five daughters, Virginia Baker of Cypress, Illinois, Donna
Love of Reymond, Nebraska, Robie Wilson of Berwyn, Illinois,
Pamela Lynn Trawick of Milan, and April Bierbaum of Milan;
two brothers, Robert Jones of Marshall, Minnesota, and Tommy
Jones of Humboldt; a sister, Mary Boufarde of Milan;
fourteen grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Steven E. Rogers
Steven E. Rogers, 55, of Martin, died Wednesday, May 21,
2008, at his home. A memorial service and celebration of
life service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 2:00
p.m. at the Paul Meek Library on the campus of the
University of Tennessee at Martin.
Mr. Rogers was the retired Director of the Paul Meek Library
at UTM. He was born July 1, 1952 in Martin. Mr. Rogers was
preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth Duncan Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Linda Kay Butler of
Martin; a son, Jon Rogers of Rutherford; a daughter, Lauren
Rogers of Knoxville; and his father, Mr. Ralph N. Rogers of
Martin.
The family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the
UTM Library Development Fun in lieu of flowers.
