Danny Paterson Crews
Danny Paterson Crews, 52, of Dresden, died Friday, February
29, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Mr. Crews were held Monday, March 3, 2008, at
11:00 a.m. at Dresden First Baptist Church. Burial followed
in on Mr. Crews' farm in Dresden.
Mr. Crews worked for the Weakley County Highway Department as
a truck driver. He was born March 7, 1955 in Dresden to the
late Alanzo and Catherleen Johnson Crews. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Crews was also preceded in death by a brother,
James Marshall Crews.
Mr. Crews is survived by Sharon Rhodes of Dresden; two sons,
Danny Crews, II of Dresden, and Tim Rhodes of Martin; a
daughter, Danielle Crews of Dresden; three brothers, Jack
Crews of North Carolina, Glen Crews of Town Creek, Alabama,
and James Crews of Dresden; two sisters, Edna Carey of
Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Elizabeth Pogue of Dresden; and
two grandchildren.
Henry "Thomas" Lee, Jr.
Funeral services for Henry Thomas Lee, Jr., of Jackson, will
be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Arrington
Funeral Directors with Rev. Chuck Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Brown's Cemetery. Mr. Lee died Sunday
March 9, 2008 at Jackson General Hospital.
Mr. Lee was a truck driver with Hub Express.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lee; four sons, Jeffrey
Lee of Paris, Chris Lee of McKenzie, Jonathan Scott of
Navarre, Florida, and Matthew Scott of Dresden; two
daughters, Elizabeth Scott Bass of Milan, and Michelle
Shrout; eleven grandchildren Samantha Lee, James and Paige
Sole, Hailey and Michael Lee, Morgan, Hannah and Wesley
Bass, McKenna Scott, Anthony Lee and Makenna Lynn Shrout;
mother, Ruby Lee of Gleason; mother-in-law, Mary Kathryn
Neal of Humboldt; two brothers, Dickie Lee of Memphis, and
Patrick Lee of McKenzie; a sister, Joann Bradley of
Montverde, Florida; brother-in-law, David Neal;
sister-in-law, Lorrie Douglass; and a host of nephews,
nieces, cousins and friends.
Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his father, Henry Thomas
Lee, Sr.; grandparents, Lewis Patton and Mozzell Lee; George
Washington and Beulah Cordelia "Delia" Chesser.
KayLynn Ranaie Taylor
KayLynn Ranaie Taylor, age 1, of Dresden, died Wednesday,
March 5, 2008, at Decatur County General Hospital in
Parsons. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, 2008,
at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden.
Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Robert
Johnson officiated the services.
She was born in Bend, Oregon to Jason and Hannah Dean Taylor
of Decaturville. Other survivors include grandmother, Brenda
Fulcher of Decaturville; grandfather, Curtis D. Dean of
Dresden; step-grandmother, Rhonda Dean of Dresden;
grandmother, Lana Fry of Frederick, Oklahoma; grandfather,
Larry Taylor of Lawton, Oklahoma; great-grandparents, Lloyd
and Ina Dyer of Troy; great-grandmother, Maxine Dean of
Desden; and great-grandmother, Grace Hall of Shawnee,
Oklahoma.
Kaylynn was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Dewey
Murel Hall.
Mattie Ruth "Peggy" Hansel Harris
Mattie Ruth "Peggy" Hansel Harris, 77, of Dresden, died
Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in
Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris were held Thursday,
March 6, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church
in Dresden. Burial followed in Pleasant Church Cemetery in
Dresden. Dr. Don McCulley officiated the services.
Mrs. Harris was a retired nurse and a member of Mt. Pleasant
Methodist Church. She was born in Dresden to the late Walter
Levi and Hazel B. Phelps Hansel. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Harris was also preceded in death by her husband,
Billie Robert Harris; a son, Billy Joe Harris; a sister,
Marjorie Rearson; and a brother, Joe Hansel.
Mrs. Harris is survived by a brother, Paul Hansel of Dresden;
two grandchildren, Chris Harris of Dresden, and Jason Harris
of Dresden; and four great-grandchildren.
Mildred L. Mayhall
Mildred L. Mayhall, 75, of Fulton, Kentucky, died Sunday,
March 9, 2008, at Western Baptist Hospital. Funeral service
for Mrs. Mayhall were held Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at 2:00
p.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton. Burial followed
in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mayhall was a member of the South Fulton Baptist Church
and had been an employee of the former H.I.S. Clothing
Company and the Liggett Company for many years. She was born
November 24, 1932 in Obion County to the late Stella Mae
(Ferguson) and William Alonzo Bryant. Mrs. Mayhall had lived
in this area most of her life. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Mayhall was also preceded in death by a brother.
Mrs. Mayhall is survived by her husband, Calvin J. Mayhall of
Fulton, whom she married May 14, 1949; a daughter, Vickie
Owens of Dukedom; two grandchildren, Wendy Owens of Dukedom,
and Scott Owens of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers, Dale
Bryant of Union City, and Billy Joe Bryant of South Fulton;
and a sister, Virginia Smith of Union City.
Rebecca Ann Pryor
Rebecca Ann Pryor, 52, of Gleason, died Thursday, March 6,
2008, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services for
Mrs. Pryor were held Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.
at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie. Burial followed in Mt.
Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Pryor was a homemaker. She was born November 25, 1955 in
Nashville to the late J.C. Reed and JoAnn (Jones) Reed.
Mrs. Pryor is survived by her husband, Elton Pryor of
Gleason; two sons, Robert Reed of McKenzie, and David Pryor
of Gleason; a daughter, Shelia (Kevin) Cady of Pasagola,
Mississippi; three brothers, Billy Reed of McKenzie, Milburn
(Ramona) Reed of McKenzie, and Paul (DeAnna) Reed of
Sikeston, Missouri; two sisters, Ruby (David) Sanders of
Henry, and Tammy (Bruce) Phillips of Buena Vista; and three
grandchildren, Dylan Cady, James Cady, and Devin Cady.
Ruth Eleanor Steele
Ruth Eleanor Steele, 92, of Dresden, died Saturday, March 1,
2008, at Martin Healthcare. Funeral services for Mrs. Steele
were held Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin
Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset
Cemetery in Dresden. Dr. Don McCulley officiated the
services.
Mrs. Steele was a retired hotel owner and manager. She was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden, a Sunday
school teacher, and a member of the Dresden Garden Club.
Mrs. Steele was a native of Martin and the daughter of the
late William David "Poppa" and Prudence Freeman Brooks. In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Steele was also preceded in
death by her husband, Mr. Charles Pharris Steele.
Mrs. Steele is survived by two daughters, Charlene S. (Kim)
Carroll of Dresden, and Treva Wren of Martin; two sisters,
Lucille Jackson of Gleason, and Virginia Troxler of
Greensboro, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Patricia
Davidson of Martin, and Wayne Wren of Jackson.
