Bobby Lee Leyhue
Bobby Lee Leyhue, 64, of Palmersville, died Wednesday,
February 13, 2008, at Weakley County Nursing Home in
Dresden. Memorial services for Mr. Leyhue were held
Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenfield City
Park Pavilion. Rev. Kenneth Williams officiated the service.
Mr. Leyhue was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a
retired employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Union
City. He was born February 21, 1943 in Weakley County to Ada
Ruth Leyhue and the late Earnest Leroy Leyhue. In addition
to his father, Mr. Leyhue was also preceded in death by a
brother, Larry Joe Leyhue.
Mr. Leyhue is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Lynn Coleman
of Jackson, and Lea Ann Hayes of Dresden; two sons, Robert
Paul Leyhue and Bradley Alan Leyhue, both of Palmersville;
four sisters, Peggy Crocker of Bradford, Wanda McCartney of
Bradford, Gail Tyson of Greenfield, and Ida Belle Leyhue of
Greenfield; four brothers, Leroy Leyhue of Greenfield, Dale
Leyhue of Greenfield, William Leyhue of Greenfield, and
Jimmy Leyhue of Cades, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and
one great-grandchild.
Edward Richard "Bill" Sutherland
Edward Richard "Bill" Sutherland, 75, of Gleason, died
Friday, February 15, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital
in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Sutherland were held
Monday, February 18, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Gallimore
Funeral Home in Gleason. Burial followed in West Union
Cemetery. Rev. Bob Copeland officiated the services.
Mr. Sutherland was a retired heavy equipment operator for K-T
Clay Company and was a member of West Union Baptist Church
in Dresden. He was born January 14, 1933 in Dresden to the
late Irie and Elsie Jones Sutherland. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Sutherland was also preceded in death by a
sister, Dorothy Lax; and a brother, Marland Sutherland.
Mr. Sutherland is survived by a brother, James Sutherland of
Louisville, Kentucky; and three sisters, Mavis Insco of
Dresden, Nell Childress of Louisville, Texas, and Inez
McKowen of Martin.
Howard "Mac" McKinley Todd
Howard "Mac" McKinley Todd, 27, of Dresden, died Saturday,
February 16, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr.
Todd were held Monday, February 18, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at
Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in
Grove Hill Cemetery in Dresden. Russell Cherry officiated
the services.
Mr. Todd was a carpenter and a Baptist by faith. He was born
in Martin. Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his
grandmother, Carolyn Legens.
Mr. Todd is survived by a son, Hunter Todd of Martin; his
mother, Debra Legens Todd of Dresden; his stepmother,
Shirley Turnbo of Dresden; seven sisters, Paula Todd of
Martin, Teresa Potter of Dyersburg, Tammy Markowski of
Martin, Debbie Turnbo of Martin, Lisa Turnbo of Dresden,
Mary O'Callaghan of Dresden, and Angie Ayers of Martin; a
brother, Randy Turnbo of Dresden; and his grandparents,
Junior and Wanda Legens of Dresden.
Joan Bates
Joan Bates, 75, of Greenfield, died Sunday, February 3, 2008,
at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Bates were held
Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams
Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Pilgrims Rest
Cemetery. Brent Arnold officiated the services.
Mrs. Bates was a cook and a factory worker. She also attended
the Greenfield Church of Christ. Mrs. Bates was born April
12, 1932 in McKenzie to the late Aubrey Raines and Selma
Gilliam Raines. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bates was
also preceded in death by her husband, William Bates.
Mrs. Bates is survived by a brother, Alvin Gilliam Raines of
Kent, Washington.
John C. Goad
John C. Goad, 46, of Martin, died Thursday, February 14,
2008, at his home. Graveside services for Mr. Goad were held
Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Meridian
Cemetery in Greenfield. Butch Wallace officiated the
services.
Mr. Goad was an employee of Gordon Food. He was born May 12,
1961 in Milan.
Mr. Goad is survived by a son, Shannon Goad of Greenfield; a
daughter, Jennifer (Justin) Goad of Bradford; his mother,
Betty Goad; a brother, Jeff (Pam) Goad of Atwood; two
sisters, Jan (Bob) Belsham of Memphis, and Debra (Tom)
Nelson of Murfreesboro; and three grandchildren.
Mark (Smokey) Stover
Mark (Smokey) Stover, 51, of Martin, died Friday, February
15, 2008, at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Funeral services
for Mr. Stover were held Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at 1:00
p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in
East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Larry Washburn officiated
the services.
Mr. Stover worked as a carpenter in construction. He was born
January 27, 1957 in Union City and attended Westview High
School. Mr. Stover was preceded in death by his father, Ray
Stover; and a brother, Gary Stover.
Mr. Stover is survived by his mother, Joyce Galey Stover of
Martin; and a brother, Greg Stover of Martin.
Matthew White
Matthew White, 22, of Gleason, died Saturday, February 16,
2008, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Graveside services for
Mr. White were held Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at 3:00 p.m.
at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Guy Wilkerson
officiated the services.
Mr. White was formally employed by City of Martin and was a
member of East Side Baptist Church. He was born June 24,
1985 in Montgomery, Alabama and was a graduate of Gleason
High School.
Mr. White is survived by his father, Ronald White of Gleason;
his mother, Linda Nobles White of Martin; a brother, Adam
White of Dresden; and his maternal grandmother, Mary Nobles
of Sharon.
Randal H. Milligan
Randal H. Milligan, 50, of Sevierville, died Thursday,
February 7, 2008, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in
Knoxville.
He was employed by the University of Tennessee in the
maintenance department and a member of Gleason Lodge #330 in
Gleason. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of
Sevierville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Milligan; and
brother, Craig Milligan.
Survivors include his mother, Iris Milligan of Sevierville;
brother, David Earl Milligan; uncle, Dean Hunt; nieces,
Alexandria L. Milligan, Jessica Milligan, and Ashley
Vincent; and nephews, Austin Vincent, Allen Milligan, C.J.
Milligan, and Corey Milligan.
Masonic Funeral Rites were held at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of
Rawlings Funeral Home. Mr. Milligan will be returned to his
hometown in Michigan for burial at a later date.
