Harold Thomas Mills, Sr.
Harold Thomas Mills, Sr., 70, of Almo, Kentucky, died Sunday,
February 3, 2008, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Mills were held Thursday, February
7, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral
Home. Burial followed in Mills Family Cemetery. Rev. Shelby
Underhill officiated the services.
Mr. Mills attended the Bethel Fellowship Church. He was born
May 22, 1937 to the late W.C. and Marie Holder Mills. In
addition to his parents, Mr. Mills was also preceded in
death by a grandson, T.J. Weddington; a brother, Billy
Mills; a sister, Carolyn Cox; a son-in-law, Danny Spencer;
and his father-in-law, Jack Lamb.
Mr. Mills is survived by his wife, Shirley Ellen (Lamb)
Mills; five daughters, Regina Davis (Rick) of Chicago,
Illinois, Diana Free (Will) of Almo, Kentucky, Vicki Ann
Eldridge (Greg) of Almo, Kentucky, Sherri Ellen Spencer of
Martin, and JoAnna Carol Fry (Bob) of Almo, Kentucky; a son,
Harold "Tommy" Mills (Sherry) of Almo, Kentucky; three
sisters, Dutsy Alexander (Cliff) of Moulton, Alabama, Pam
Romano (Mike) of Alsip, Illinois, and Debbie Mills of
Nashville; four brothers, Gerald Mills of Almo, Kentucky,
Stanley Mills of Hammond, Indiana, Larry Mills (Lori) of
Bridgeview, Illinois, and Boone Mills (Jan) of Shereville,
Illinois; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
his mother-in-law, Mattie Lamb of Boolingbrook, Illinois;
sister-in-law, Bonnie Zimny; and brothers-in-law, David
Lamb, Noah Lamb, George Lamb, and Robert Lamb.
Keith E. Fortner
Keith E. Fortner, 48, of Martin, died Wednesday, February 6,
2008, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Funeral
services for Mr. Fortner were held Saturday, February 9,
2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial
followed in Mack's Grove Cemetery in Dresden. Father Don
Brooks officiated the services.
Mr. Fortner was the owner and operator, along with his wife,
of Cheer's in Martin. He was born January 10, 1960 in St.
Charles, Illinois to the late Harry Fortner and Lorraine
Legens Fortner.
Mr. Fortner is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Beth Harrison
Fortner of Martin; a son, Josh Fortner of Martin; a
daughter, Samantha Fortner of Martin; a brother, Dale
Fortner of Martin; and two sisters, Jean Kosusnik of
Wheaton, Illinois, and Dianna Fortner of Tampa, Florida.
Linda Kay Houston
Linda Kay Houston, 58, of Greenfield, died Monday, February
4, 2008, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Houston will
be held today, Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at
Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial will
follow in Morris Cemetery in Greenfield. Ronnie McClure,
Dwayne Harris, and Mark Abbott will officiate the services.
Mrs. Houston was a housewife and attended Bethlehem Baptist
Church. She was born October 29, 1949 in Greenfield to the
late Willie Arnold and Louise Hubble.
Mrs. Houston is survived by her husband, Vernal (Shorty)
Houston of Greenfield; three sons, David Houston of Gleason,
Tim Houston of Dresden, and Jeff Houston of McLemoresville;
two sisters, Susie Horn of Idlewild, and Joyce Jones of
Gleason; three brothers, Eddie Arnold of Greenfield, Johnny
Arnold of Dresden, and Joe David Tucker of Greenfield; ten
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
M. Velma Ennis Barnes
M. Velma Ennis Barnes, of Lansing, Michigan, died Saturday,
February 2, 2008, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Graveside
services for Mrs. Barnes were held Friday, February 8, 2008,
at 1:00 p.m. at Stanley's Chapel Cemetery in Union City.
Mrs. Barnes was a homemaker. She was born December 26, 1914
in Terrell, Tennessee to the late Oscar R. Ennis and Nettie
Hazlewood Ennis. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnes was
also preceded in death by her husband, John R. Barnes; and a
daughter, Jerri Lynn Barnes.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by two sons, Bill D. Barnes of
Dewitt, Michigan, and Jack N. Barnes (Linda K.) of East
Lansing, Michigan; two daughters, Bobbie J. Cornell of
Dewitt, Michigan, and Brenda J. Smith of Aurora, Colorado;
nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Margaret Hamilton Wagster
Margaret Hamilton Wagster, 92, of Martin, died Saturday,
February 9, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wagster were held Tuesday,
February 12, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in
Martin. Burial followed in Mt. Pelia Cemetery in Martin.
Rev. Craig Peevyhouse officiated the services.
Mrs. Wagster formerly worked at Weldon Library and was a
Presbyterian by faith. She was a graduate of Rives High
School. Mrs. Wagster was born October 14, 1915 in Obion,
Tennessee to the late Will Hamilton and Nell Barton
Hamilton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wagster was also
preceded in death by her husband, Othea Lee Wagster; a
sister, Mary Ruth Bondurant; and a granddaughter, Melody
Jones West.
Mrs. Wagster is survived by two daughters, Brenda Jones of
Martin, and Kathy Whitfield of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina;
two grandchildren, Michael Shane Jones and Jay Deason; and
four great-grandchildren.
