Edward Lee Sedgebear
Edward Lee Sedgebear, 59, of Martin, died Saturday, July 26,
2008, at his home. Memorial and celebration of life services
will be held Saturday, August 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at
Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial was in Public Wells
Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Donald E. Brooks will officiate the
services.
Mr. Sedgebear formerly worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber
Company and was an Episcopal by faith. He was also a veteran
of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. He was
born January 30, 1949 in Jackson, Michigan, to the late
Loren Sedgebear and Wilma Creech. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Sedgebear was also preceded in death by a
brother, Buddy Aukerman.
Mr. Sedgebear is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janice Hankins
Sedgebear of Martin; two daughters, Sherri Sedgebear of
McKenzie, and Trisha Frensley of Martin; two sisters, Sharon
(Pete) Stewart of Jackson, Michigan, and Dianne Cole of
Jackson, Michigan; and one granddaughter, Kaylie Martin of
Martin. Eugene Jackson Thomason
Eugene Jackson Thomason, 61, of Dresden, died July 20, 2008,
at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Thomason were held
Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Lebanon Cemetery near
Dresden. William Norrid officiated the services.
Mr. Thomason was a machine operator for P.M.L. Automotive
Parts Mfg. and a member of Lebanon Church of Christ in
Dresden. He was a 1965 graduate of Dresden High School. Mr.
Thomason was born in Martin to the late Ed Lee and Mary
Alpheus Jackson Thomason.
Mr. Thomason is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Sherry
Ann Barnett Thomason of Dresden; a daughter, Cathy (Paul)
Brown of Dresden; a son, David (Karen) Thomason of
Henderson; a sister, Brenda Barrett of Clarksville; a
brother, Rayburn Thomason of Paris; and two grandchildren,
Paul and Natalie Thomason of Henderson.
Evelyn Pauline Gearin
Evelyn Pauline Gearin, 81, of Greenfield, died Friday, August
1, 2008, at her daughter's home. Funeral services for Mrs.
Gearin were held Monday, August 4, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt.
Hermon Methodist Church in Greenfield. Burial followed in
Mount Hermon Cemetery. Rev. Randy Stacy officiated the
services.
Mrs. Gearin was a housewife and attended Mt. Hermon Methodist
Church. She was born November 6, 1926 in Bradford to the
late Earl B. Holt and Ocie M. Wren. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Gearin was also preceded in death by her
husband, Thomas Gearin; and a daughter, Carolyn McAlister.
Mrs. Gearin is survived by two daughters, Jane (Gearin) Capps
of Greenfield, and Mary (Gearin) Wilson of Gleason; two
sons, Ricky Gearin of Greenfield, and Randy Gearin of
Gleason; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve
great-grandchildren. Grace Ferguson
Headden
Grace Ferguson Headden, 87, of Union City, formerly of
Martin, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Martin Health
Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Headden were held Saturday,
August 2, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in
Martin. Burial followed in Mt. Aarat Cemetery. Justin Cook
officiated the services.
Mrs. Headden was a former employee of Merritt Clothing and
Mar-Tenn Hams. She was also a member of the Assembly of God
Church in Union City. Mrs. Headden was born December 10,
1920 in Obion County to the late Charles William Ferguson
and Clopie Williams Ferguson. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Headden was also preceded in death by her husband,
William Ardell Headden; four brothers, Jack Ferguson, Fred
Ferguson, Leonard Ferguson, and Bill Ferguson; and two
sisters, Nina Wallace, and Beulah Speight.
Mrs. Headden is survived by a son, Clyde A. Headden of Palm
City, Florida; a daughter, Jeanie Baker of Palmersville; a
brother, Claude Ferguson of Union City; and a sister, Ruby
Ring of Martin. Gregory Alan Baker
Gregory Alan Baker, 43, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, July
30, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Funeral
services for Mr. Baker were held Saturday, August 2, 2008,
at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in Sharon. Burial
followed in Tansil Cemetery.
Mr. Baker was born February 12, 1965 in Milan.
Mr. Baker is survived by his parents, Bobby and Ann Baker of
Sharon; and two brothers, Brian Baker of Milan, and Mark
(Cindy) Baker of Sidonia. Hyram L.
Patrick
Hyram L. Patrick, 70, of Brandon, passed away Saturday,
August 2, 2008, at the Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 5 at Grace
Primitive Baptist Church in Pearl. Interment followed in the
Antioch-Steel Cemetery in Scott County. Elder Houston
Patrick and Elder Hilton Moore officiated the services.
Mr. Patrick was born in Scott County, lived most of his life
in South Jackson and has been a resident of Brandon for the
past three years. He was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist
Church in Pearl and was a Hinds Co. Sheriff's Deputy who
retired after 25 years of service.
Mr. Patrick is survived by his wife, Jo Patrick of Brandon;
his daughter, Rhonda Lawrence and husband Kenny of Brandon;
his son, Phillip Patrick and wife Elizabeth of Clinton; two
grandchildren, Hannah and Haley Lawrence of Brandon; three
sisters, Mary McDonald of Meridian, Dorothy Skinner of
Union, and Nell Diffenderfer of Clinton; and two brothers,
Elder Houston Patrick of Martin, and James E. Patrick of
Forest.
Mr. Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, Dock and
Grace Patrick; and two brothers, Colin and Herbert Patrick.

MS 39216. June Lipe
June Lipe, 73, of Walnut Hill, died Friday, August 1, 2008,
at her home.
She was born on January 21, 1935 in Anna, daughter of Stanley
F. and Mamie (Winchester) Eaves. She married Paul Lipe on
December 3, 1954 in Boskydell, and he survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons,
Roger Lipe and wife, Glenda of Morton, and Kevin Lipe and
wife, Eva of Pawnee; a daughter, Karen Howell and husband,
Norm, of Holts Summit, Missouri; two sisters, Linda Clutts
of Carbondale and Betty Shaw of Desoto; eight grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers,
Carroll and Stanley.
She lived in Walnut Hill for the last three years and had
lived in the Centralia area since 1956. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Lipe was also a member of Baker Street Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, at 10:00 a.m., at Irvin
Funeral Home with the Rev. Norm Howell officiating.
Interment followed at Boskydell Cemetery in Boskydell.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the Baker Street

Smith
Marion Lochridge Smith, 78, of Union City, formerly of
Latham, died Thursday, July 24, at the Golden Living Center
in Union City. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held
Sunday, at 2:00 p.m., at the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel in
Union City. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in the
Latham community in Weakley County.
Mrs. Smith was born in Latham to the late Samuel and Verlie
Lochridge Crittendon. She was a retired 18 year employee of
the former Hubbell Lighting Company in Martin, and a member
of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, William
Harold Smith; a son, Terry Glynn; five sisters, Obert Reed,
Josie Brundige, Margaret Hicks, Sue Rea and Jackie Wray; and
one brother, John Lochridge.
Survivors include two daughters, Nina (Charles) Davis of
Union City, and Cynthia (Gary) Stallings of Johnson City,
Illinois; two sons, Kerry (Terrie) Smith of Union City, and
Larry (Carol) Smith of Lenexa, Kansas; two grandsons, Tra
and Will Simmons of Union City; one granddaughter, Kristie
(Chris) Walker of Union City; two sisters, Ann Nanney of
Pilot Oak, Kentucky, and Jean Higgs of Dresden; a brother,
Jimmie Lochridge of Dearborn, Michigan; and several nieces
and nephews. Nova Leona Capps Webb
Nova Leona Capps Webb, 94, of Martin, died Monday, July 28,
2008, at Martin Health Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Webb
were held Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. at Murphy
Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in Brock Cemetery in
Greenfield. Rev. Randy Potts and Rev. Phillip Mitchell
officiated the services.
Mrs. Webb owned and operated Webb's Grocery in Chicago,
Illinois. She was born July 6, 1914 in Weakley County to the
late George Capps and Lizzie Raney. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Webb was also preceded in death by her
husband, Newell Webb; three brothers, Will Capps, Charence
Capps, and Grady Capps; and three sisters, Louise Barnes,
Ruby Powell, and Mary Powers.
Mrs. Webb is survived by her caregivers, Peggy and Larry
Baker.
