Clarence Lee Collins
Clarence Lee Collins, 64, of Gleason, died Thursday, August
21, 2008, at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Funeral services
for Mr. Collins were held Sunday, August 24, 2008, at 2:00
p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial
followed in New Hope Cemetery. Rev. Chris Burnine officiated
the services.
Mr. Collins was retired from Goodyear and was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ. He was born August 15, 1944 in
Ridgely, Tennessee to the late M.C. Collins and Sally
Chesser Collins.
Mr. Collins is survived by special friend, Carlene Biggs of
Gleason; two sons, Charles Collins of Gleason, and Jeff
Collins of Juka, Mississippi; a daughter, Vicky Collins of
Martin; a brother, Clyde Collins of Chicago, Illinois; a
sister, Laverne Nick of Paris; seven grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren. Garry
Lynn Taylor
Garry Lynn Taylor, 59, of Dresden, died Monday, August 18,
2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Taylor were held
Thursday, August 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral
Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery
in Dresden. Bro. Kieth Dublin officiated the services.
Mr. Taylor was a mail truck driver and a tire salesman. He
was also a Baptist by faith and a member of the NRA. Mr.
Taylor was born November 12, 1948 in Dresden to the late
Basil Eskridge and Florence Marie Doran Taylor. In addition
to his parents, Mr. Taylor was also preceded in death by a
brother, Phillip N. Taylor.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carol O'Daniel
Taylor of Dresden; two daughters, Teresa Turrentine of
Dresden, and Candace (Shane) Davis of Jackson; and six
grandchildren. Minnie Catherine
Skaggs Stroube
Minnie Catherine Skaggs Stroube, 83, died Sunday, August 24,
2008. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27,
2008, at 1:00 p.m. in Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton's Dignity Hall
in Nashville with entombment following in Woodlawn Cross
Mausoleum.
Mrs. Stroube was preceded in death by her parents, Alvah Lee
and Elizabeth Teague Skaggs; and husband, Robert H. Stroube,
Sr.. She was a 1943 graduate of Mortons Gap High School and
earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from
Western Kentucky State Teachers College in 1947. She taught
Home Economics at South Christian High School from
1947-1949; Kirksey High School 1949-1951; Two Rivers High
School 1965-1976; and McGavock High School 1976-1981. She
was a member of Woodmont Christian Church and a Sunday
school teacher. She was also a member of MNEA, TEA, NEA,
Retired Home Economics Teacher's Association, and a
Volunteer for Second Harvest Food Bank.
Survivors include her children, Cathy (Al) Maynord of
Donelson, Robert (Debbie) Stroube of Hendersonville, and
Martha (Linville) Freeman of Martin; ten grandchildren,
Becky (John) Reeder, Derek Belcher, John (Amanda) Freeman,
Leigh Hill, Adam (Marissa) Stroube, Sam Freeman, Kyle
Stroube, Brett Stroube, Chance Maynord, and Alys Maynord;
and one great-grandson, Samuel Stroube Reeder.
Robert "Jamup" Richards
Robert "Jamup" Richards, 71, of Palmersville, died Saturday,
August 23, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr.
Richards will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at 2:00
p.m. at Brown Funeral Chapel in Mayfield, Kentucky. Burial
will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Mayfield. Rev. Jim
Barnhouse will officiate the services.
Mr. Richards was a retired teacher, basketball coach and
baseball coach from the former Palmersville High School. He
was also a veteran and a member of Mack's Grove Baptist
Church in Palmersville. Mr. Richards was preceded in death
by his parents, Roy and Irene Hasty Richards; and two
sisters, Elwanda Richards and Evelyn Taylor.
Mr. Richards is survived by his wife, Trudy Thompson
Richards; one son, James (Fran) Richards of Chattanooga,
Tennessee; two daughters, Melissa (Larry) Sides of
Palmersville, and Rebecca (John) Childress of Palmersville;
two sisters, Betty Ritenour of Louisville, Kentucky, and
Shirley Adams of Louisville, Kentucky; one brother, Jimmy
Ray Richards of Mayfield; a brother-in-law, Jack Taylor of
Symsonia; and six grandchildren.
Torchie Blanch Mayo
Torchie Blanch Mayo, 65, of Gleason, died Monday, August 25,
2008, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Graveside services will
be held at Grove Hill at a later date.
Mrs. Mayo was a homemaker. She was born December 22, 1942 in
Martin to the late Chester Lee and Loraine (Jones) Darnell.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mayo was also preceded in
death by a sister, Faye Darnell.
Mrs. Mayo is survived by her husband, Joeneill Mayo; three
sons, Johnny Edwards of Dresden, J.T. Edwards of Texas, and
Vernon Edwards of Tennessee; a daughter, Belinda Edwards of
Martin; two sisters, Jane Dublin of Dresden, and Diane
Harrison of Dresden; and four grandchildren.
Tyler Edward Klutts
Tyler Edward Klutts, 15, of Martin, died Sunday, August 16,
2008, at Horizon Medical Center. Funeral services were held
Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral
Home Chapel in Sharon. Burial followed in Campground
Cemetery in Martin. Bro. Lowell Wiley officiated the
services.
Tyler was a student at Martin Middle School. He was born
August 3, 1993 in Union City. He was preceded in death by
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Klutts; and uncle, Unkie
Paul Klutts.
Survivors include: his father, David Klutts of Martin; his
mother, Tracey (Randall) Watson of Martin; four sisters,
Seaman Amber DeBosky of Martin, April Goode of Martin,
Christina (Shawn) Jones of Martin, and Linda Ann "Annie"
Mitchell of Martin; brother, Vann (Deana) Watson of Martin;
uncles, Jeff Elkins of Martin, and Johnny Elkins of Martin;
cousins, Jennifer Hollis of Martin, and Tracy Hollis of
Martin; nephew, Braden Snow of Martin; niece, Randi Jones of
Martin; and grandmother, Dale Sills of Martin.
