Ada Nell Winstead

    Ada Nell Winstead, 83, of Dresden, died March 29, 2008, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Winstead were held Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in Latham. Bro. Nathan Horton officiated the services.
    Mrs. Winstead was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Apostolic Church in Dresden. She was born in Palmersville to the late Will and Mattie Pearl Turner McClure. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winstead was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Arden Otez "Tez" Winstead; a daughter, Sherry Gail Winstead; a son, Arden "Shorty" Winstead; a sister, Dorothy Watts; three brothers, Doug McClure, W.D. McClure, and Harold McClure; and a grandson, Jeremy Lynn Hugueley.
    Mrs. Winstead is survived by four daughters, Pat Harrison of Dresden, Brenda Wheat of Dresden, Pam Stafford of Huntingdon, and Becky Hugueley of Huntingdon; a son, Bobby Winstead of Dresden; two sisters, Nadine Brewer of Paris, and Marcell Damron of Detroit, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
 

Alice Ross Brown

    Alice Ross Brown, 91, of Marietta, Georgia, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Emory-Adventist Hospital in Smyrna, Georgia. Graveside services for Mrs. Brown were held Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. David Brown officiated the services.
    Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Martin and of the Bob Revis Chapter of Eastern Star (Chapter #71). She was a graduate of South Fulton High School. Mrs. Brown was born December 28, 1916 in Weakley County to the late Burett Ross and Ruby Lawson Ross. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Brown.
    Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Gloria Rush of Marietta, Georgia; a brother, Tommy Ross of Michigan; three sisters, Hazel Parr of Medica, Ohio, Virginia Tuck of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Sarah Anderson of Ocala, California; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
 

Betty Jo Osborne Collins

    Betty Jo Osborne Collins, 63, of Palmersville, died March 29, 2008, at her sister's home in Springville. Services were held Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Interment followed in Palmersville Cemetery. Dr. Don McCulley officiated the services.
    Mrs. Collins was a former grocery store owner and a member of Hodges Chapel Baptist Church near Dresden. She was born August 9, 1946 in Charleston, West Virginia. Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Hillard Osborne; and her husband, whom she married March 29, 1963, Mr. Elmer Daniel Collins.
    Mrs. Collins is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Sam) Morgon of Lakevilla, Illinois; a son, Danny Lee Collins of Dresden; her mother, Mrs. Lenore Burton Osborne of Springville; three sisters, Pat Mayer of Springville, Bobbie Wiginton of Springville, and Linda Bannon of McKenzie; two brothers, Rick Burton of Buchanan, and Mike Burton of Como; and five grandchildren.
 

Carol E. Bland

    Carol E. Bland, 61, of Greenfield, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at her home. Funeral services for Ms. Bland were held Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial followed in Morris Cemetery in Greenfield. Joel Pigg officiated the services.
    Mrs. Bland formerly worked at Green Apparel. She was born December 5, 1946 in Martin to the late Willard D. Bland and Opal Marshell.
    Mrs. Bland is survived by a sister, Barbara Alford of Bradford.
 

Claude Elvin Williams

    Claude Elvin Williams, 76, of Gleason, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at Martin Healthcare. Funeral services for Mr. Williams were held Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Mike Jeffers and Rev. Tony Terrell officiated the services.
    Mr. Williams was a retired farmer and a member of New Valley Methodist Church in Gleason. He was born August 30, 1931 in Gleason to the late Claude and Nina Mae (Spence) Williams.
 

Denzel "Denboy" Busby

    Denzel "Denboy" Busby was born February 29, 1925 in Martin. He was one of nine children born to Carl Busby Sr. and Jessie Farmer.
    Mr. Busby was a member of the McCabe Temple United Methodist Church. He attended school in Martin and then moved to Chicago, Illinois. After moving to Chicago, he enlisted in the United States Army.
    After his tour of duty in the Army, he was honorably discharged. He later lived in both Cleveland, Ohio and Los Angeles, California. He worked in the Healthcare Industry until retirement. He moved back home to Martin in 1995 and lived with his niece, Barbara Buford.
    Mr. Busby died March 28, 2008. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5, 2008, at McCabe United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Parham Cemetery.
    Survivors include a son, Jerry Couch; a brother, Gary Busby of Lansing, Michigan; nieces and nephews, Barbara Buford, Allean Simmons, Shirley Carlton, Carl Busby, Jr., and Fatina Busby; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
 

Ernest Wayne Evans

    Ernest Wayne Evans was born on April 27, 1938, in Dresden, to Rozell Bell and Frank Hamilton. He was educated at the Weakley County Training School. After graduating from high school, he entered the United States Army, where he served his country from September 29, 1961 through April 14, 1965, with an Honorable Discharge.
Mr. Evans then returned to Tennessee for a while before moving to Lansing, Michigan. There he was employed for many years at Fisher Body. He returned home to stay and gained employment for about twenty years at Goodyear. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
    Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his mother, Rozell Evans; his stepfather, Wayne Evans; his father, Frank Hamilton; and his wife, Betty Evans.
    Survivors include two daughters, Pamara G. Childress (Semo) from Texas, and Pamela Bowden from Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Matter Ellison and Betty Easley (Henry); four brothers, Payton Evans (Lula), James Hamilton (Clara), Robert Eugene McDonald from Baltimore, Maryland, and Robert (Bobby) Jones from Indianapolis, Indiana; one uncle, Kermite Hughes from Paducah, Kentucky; two aunts, Thelma Pittman from Lansing, Michigan, and Pearl Ross from Detroit, Michigan; two granddaughters from Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
    Mr. Evans died on March 1, 2008. Funeral services were held Friday, March 7, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Summers officiating. Burial was at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.

 

Estelle Collins

    Estelle Collins was born March 18, 1933 to Mr. Joe Tyree and Mrs. Isabel Tyree in Hope, Arkansas. Mrs. Collins died March 20. Funeral services were held March 25, 2008, at Oak Grove M.B. Church. Burial followed in Parham Cemetery.
    Mrs. Collins attended public school at Blevins Training School in Blevins, Arkansas. She married the late Mr. Ned Collins and they reared five children in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Collins was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Lois Scott.
    Survivors include five children, Richard Charles Tyree of Chicago, Illinois, Deborah Ann Tyree of Buffalo, New York, Norbert Collins of Buffalo, New York, Donald James Collins of Buffalo, New York, and Mrs. Colleen Kandy Collins Summers of Martin; three sisters, Mrs. Joise Bell Pierce of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Hazel Jean Williamson of Emmett, Arkansas, and Mrs. Vera Lee Smith of Hope, Arkansas; five brothers, Mr. Eugene Tyree, Mr. Robert Tyree, Mr. James Tyree, and Mr. Tyler Tyree, all of Chicago, and Mr. Larry Tyree of Temecula, California; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
 

J.B. Hutchison

    J.B. Hutchison, 74, of Greenfield, died March 31, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Hutchison were held Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery in Bradford. Bruce McCartney and Clint Monroe officiated the services.
    Mr. Hutchison was a carpenter and attended Moore's Chapel Baptist Church in Greenfield. He was also a member of the Lion's Club. Mr. Hutchison was born July 22, 1933 in Bells, Tennessee to the late David Hutchison and Ella Morris Hutchison.
    Mr. Hutchison is survived by his wife, Ruby (Crowder) Hutchison of Greenfield; two daughters, Shelia Hill of Greenfield, and Phyllis (Hutchison) Cole of Falkville, Alabama; a son, Gary Hutchison of Greenfield; a brother, Billy Hutchison of Friendship; five sisters, Juanita Brown of Cleveland, Tennessee, Wanda Bonta of Elko, Nevada, Jeannie Smith of Bellsville, Michigan, Barbara Hedden of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Shirley Archibald of Bartlett; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
 

J.C. McMillin

    J.C. McMillin, 70, of Martin, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Graveside services for Mr. McMillin were held Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Obion County Memorial Garden in Union City. Rev. Dave Reinhard officiated the services.
    Mr. McMillin was retired from Wilbert Vault Company. He was born April 2, 1938 in Weakley County to the late Roy L. McMillin and Eunice Spicer McMillin. In addition to his parents, Mr. McMillin was also preceded in death by four brothers, Harold McMillin, Tom McMillin, Donnie McMillin, and Buddy McMillin.
    Mr. McMillin is survived by three sons, Carter McMillin of Greenfield, Richard McMillin of Panama City, Florida, and Chad McMillin of Orlando, Florida; a daughter, Tammie Vazquez of Elgin, Illinois; and three brothers, Charles (Dickie) McMillin of Martin, J.D. McMillin of Martin, and Billy Gene McMillin of South Fulton.
 

Lois Mae Insco

    Lois Mae Insco, 82, of Sharon, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Insco were held Friday, April 4, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Michael Nelson officiated the services.
    Mrs. Insco was a business owner. She was born August 11, 1925 in Bogota, Tennessee to the late Ivory Guess and Mary Channel Guess. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Insco was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Insco; a son, Ronald Insco; a daughter, Patricia Insco; two brothers, Bill Guess and Raymodn Guess; and a sister Christine Eaves.
    Mrs. Insco is survived by two daughters, Betty Nelson of Sharon, and Linda (Randal) Walker of Sharon; a sister, Nita (Shady) Moore of Bartlett; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
