Billy Wayne Stewart
Billy Wayne Stewart, 60, of Gleason, died Sunday, March 23,
2008, at Des Moines Meroy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services for Mr. Stewart were held Thursday, March
27, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Gleason First Baptist Church.
Burial followed in Carroll County Memorial Gardens. Rev.
Gene Price officiated the services.
Mr. Stewart retired as a Railroad Conductor and Breakman
after 37 years of service. He was also a veteran of the
Vietnam War and a member of Gleason First Baptist Church.
Mr. Stewart was born February 5, 1948 in Martin to the late
Roy Lee and Mable Moore Stewart.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Pat Taylor Stewart; a
son and his wife, Steven and Wynafer Stewart of Gleason; a
daughter and her husband, Stacy and Wade Cook of Ankeny,
Iowa; a brother, Donnie Stewart of McKenzie; a sister, Joyce
Jones of Gleason; and four grandchildren.
Dorothy May Burke
Dorothy May Burke, 86, of Gleason, died Monday, March 24,
2008, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services for
Mrs. Burke were held Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m.
at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed
in Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Gene Price officiated the
services.
Mrs. Burke was a former employee of the Sharon Pajama Factory
and a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church. She was born
April 27, 1921 in Paris to the late Raymond D. McKenzie and
Winnie Ruth Baker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burke
was also preceded in death by her husband, James Burke.
Mrs. Burke is survived by a daughter, Ruth Pryor of Gleason;
a stepdaughter, Martha Burke of McKenzie; two stepsons,
Thomas Burke of Gleason, and Larry Burke of McKenzie; a
brother, L.T. McKenzie of Paris; two sisters, Shirley Mann
of McKenzie, and Betty Brown of Henry; and four
grandchildren.
George A. Webber
George A. Webber, 87, of Palmersville, died Saturday, March
29, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Mr. Webber was a retired foreman for Jones and Laughlin Steel
in Warren, Michigan and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in
WWII and the Korean War. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr.
Webber was born July 24, 1920 in Trinary, Michigan to the
late Herman and Katherine Fitzgerald Webber. In addition to
his parents, Mr. Webber was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Kathy Simpson; a sister; and five brothers.
Mr. Webber is survived by his wife, Ruby Gilbert Webber, whom
he married December 15, 1947; two daughters, Judy Martin of
Palmersville, and Margie Wolfe of Palmersville; one son,
Howard Webber of Palmersville; nine grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
Lorene C. Parker
Lorene C. Parker, 98, of Fulton, Kentucky, died Friday, March
28, 2008, at Haws Memorial Nursing Home. Graveside services
for Mrs. Parker were held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 2:00
p.m. at Good Springs Cemetery in Dukedom.
Mrs. Parker was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in
Latham and had been an employee of the former Baybee Shoe
Factory in Dresden. She was a longtime resident of Latham
before moving to South Fulton. She had been a resident of
the Haws Memorial Nursing Home in Fulton for the past 4
years. Mrs. Parker was born July 21, 1909 in Weakley County
to the late Less and Lucy (Lockridge) Carney. In addition to
her parents, Mrs. Parker was also preceded in death by her
husband, Don Parker; an infant son; two brothers; and one
sister.
Mrs. Parker is survived by a son, Gary L. Parker of South
Fulton; two grandchildren, Barbara J. McClanahan of South
Fulton, and Lori A. Pinion of South Fulton; three
great-grandchildren, Holly McClanahan, Emily Pinion, and
Cory Pinion, all of South Fulton; and a sister, Mary Garner
of Dresden.
Mary Alice Liggett
Mary Alice Liggett, 95, of Greenfield, died Sunday, March 30,
2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Ms. Liggett were held Tuesday, April 1, 2008,
at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial
followed in Highland Cemetery in Greenfield. Dr. Roy Whaley
officiated the services.
Ms. Liggett had formerly worked at the Milan Arsenal and
Hearn Law Office. She attended the First Presbyterian Church
in Greenfield. Ms. Liggett was born February 1, 1913 in
Greenfield to the late Robert Lee Brasfield and Maude Orr.
Naomi "Amy" Owen
Naomi "Amy" Owens, 82, of Dresden, died Tuesday, March 25,
2008, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden.
Funeral services for Mrs. Owen were held Friday, March 28,
2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden.
Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Dr. Don
McCulley and Bro. Tom Winchester officiated the services.
Mrs. Owen was a retired teachers' aide and housewife. She was
a member of Dresden First Baptist Church. Mrs. Owen was born
in Weakley County to the late Jeff Pinkney and Cora Dunn
Rhodes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owen was also
preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Taylor, Alice
Hornsby, and Hattie B. "Shug" Brundige.
Mrs. Owen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mr. J.W.
Owen of Dresden; a daughter, Dorothy Jean Diadrick of Port
Charlotte, Florida; two sons, Jerry Owen of San Antonio,
Texas, and Jeff Owen of Kingman, Indiana; a sister, Wilma
Morgan of Dresden; a brother, Dallas Parnell "Bill" Rhodes
of Dresden; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
Naomi R. Flowers
Naomi R. Flowers, 87, of Dresden, died Friday, March 28,
2008, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dresden.
Funeral services for Mrs. Flowers were held Monday, March
31, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden.
Burial followed in Mack's Grove Cemetery in Dresden. Bro.
Jim Barnhouse officiated the services.
Mrs. Flowers was a homemaker and a member of Mack's Grove
Baptist Church. She was born in Rutherford to the late
Needham L. and Leona D. Beard Somers. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Flowers was also preceded in death by her
husband, Mr. Marion Elwyn Flowers.
Mrs. Flowers is survived by two sons, Jan Eldon Flowers of
Benton, Kentucky, and Barry Flowers of Dresden; a brother,
Tom Somers of Rutherford; four grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Postell (Preacher) Buford
Postell (Preacher) Buford, 91, of Martin, died Saturday,
March 29, 2008, at Martin Health Care. Funeral services for
Mr. Buford will be held Saturday, April 4, 2008, at 1100
a.m. at Fuller Street Baptist Church in Dresden. Burial will
follow in Parham Cemetery in Martin. Pastor Harold Conner
will officiate the services.
Mr. Buford was a retired mechanic, formally working for
Weakley County Motors and Brundige Gulf Station and he was a
Baptist by faith. He was born August 1, 1916 in Olive
Branch, Mississippi to the late John D. Buford and Estelle
Newburn Buford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Buford was
also preceded in death by a son, Postell Buford, Jr..
Mr. Buford is survived by eight daughters, Violet Buford of
Memphis, Helen Duncan of California, Phyllis Duncan of
Memphis, Edna Sheppard of Martin, Rachel Fletcher of Martin,
Cheryl Shackelford of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Swanya Shackez
of New York, and Venessa Buford of Fulton; nieces and
nephews, Kim Turner of Chicago, Howard Turner of Michigan,
Kevin Turner of Martin, Craig Turner of Fredickburg,
Virginia, and Joseph Turner of Chicago; sister and
caregiver, Dorothy (David) Royster of Martin; nineteen
grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
Rhae E. Foust, Jr.
Rhae E. Foust, Jr., 78, of Santa Anna, California, died
November 18, 2007, in Santa Anna. Memorial graveside
services for Mr. Foust will be held today, Wednesday, April
2, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Mr. Foust was the owner and operator of F&S Sales in Santa
Anna, California. He was born August 6, 1929 in Santa Anna
to the late Rhae E. Foust, Sr. and Julia Bragg Foust.
Mr. Foust is survived by three sons, Rhae E (Rob) Foust, III
of Fullerton, California, David Foust of Huntingdon Beach,
California, and Dana K. Foust of Lake Elsinore, California;
and a sister, Katherine Clayton of Santa Anna, California.
Ruby Lee (Priest) Fox
Ruby Lee (Priest) Fox, 75, formerly of Greenfield, died March
22, 2008, at her home in Ocklahawa, Florida.
Mrs. Fox was born January 6, 1933 and graduated in 1952. She
was Homecoming Queen and she also played basketball. Mrs.
Fox enjoyed working along side her husband for years in his
outdoor sporting business.
Mrs. Fox is survived by her husband, John Fox; three
children, William, Randy, and Cindy; several grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Elsie Fesmire of
Alamo, Lyndell Featherstone of Greenfield, Opal Priest of
Florida, and Sue Travis of Memphis.
Stephen A. "Stevie" Donoho
Stephen A. "Stevie" Donoho, 56, of Palmersville, died
Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for
Mr. Donoho were held Monday, March 31, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.
at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in
Palmersville Cemetery. Mike Todd and Bro. Bob Copeland
officiated the services.
Mr. Donoho was a retired tire builder for General Tire in
Mayfield. He was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church in
Palmersville and Palmersville Masonic Lodge #121. Mr. Donoho
was born in Mayfield, Kentucky to the late Harvey Clinton
and Virginia Earl Griffith Donoho.
Mr. Donoho is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beverly Todd Donoho
of Palmersville; three daughters, Stephanie (Jamie) Kemp of
Palmersville, Lindsey (Kurt) Parham of Dresden, and Ashley
Donoho of Palmersville; two sisters, Sylvia Rickman of
Murray, Kentucky, and Janice (Don) Laws of Fayetteville,
Georgia; three brothers, Jerry Donoho of Palmersville,
Kenneth (Brenda) Donoho of Palmersville, and Joseph (Linda
Jo) Donoho of Springfield, Tennessee; and one grandson,
Brody Mac Kemp of Palmersville.
William Joe "Billy" Allison
William Joe "Billy" Allison, 73, of Martin, died Friday,
March 28, 2008, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Funeral services for Mr. Allison were held Monday, March 31,
2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden.
Burial followed in Mack's Grove Cemetery in Dresden. Bro.
Wade Kelley and Bro. Warren Darden officiated the services.
Mr. Allison was a truck driver and a member of Bible Union
Baptist Church in Martin. He was born March 12, 1935 in
Henry County to the late William and Dessie Gargus Allison.
Mr. Allison is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Jean Bowlin
Allison of Martin; three daughters, Trish Robbins of
Springfield, Colorado, Debbie Allison of Martin, and Pamela
Harris of Booneville, Mississippi; three sons, Darrel
Allison of Martin, Larry Allison of Paris, and Dean Austin
of Martin; a brother, Dorris Allison of Paris; thirteen
grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
