Billie Scates Watson

    Billie Scates Watson, 76, of Martin, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Watson will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Rev. Dayne Hawks will officiated the services.
    Mr. Watson was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He was born November 30, 1931 in Weakley County to the late Joe Watson and Evie May Osteen. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hauhe Watson; a son, Billie Joe (Skeeter) Watson; and a daughter, Janet Marie Watson.
    Mr. Watson is survived by a son, Dennis Watson of Martin; a sister, Mary Brasfield of Gleason; and two grandchildren, Hillary Watson and Stanton Watson.
 

David Dean McEntire

    David Dean McEntire, 60, of Dresden, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. McEntire were held Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Gary Hines and Bro. Michael Hammonds officiated the services.
    Mr. McEntire was a maintenance worker for Martin Housing Authority and a member of Travis Chapel Methodist Church in Dresden. He was born in Jackson, Michigan. Mr. McEntire was preceded in death by his father, Melvin McEntire; a sister, Mary Jane Smith; and three brothers, Richard McEntire, Jim McEntire, and Bill McEntire.
    Mr. McEntire is survived by his wife, Mrs. Faye Workman Sanderson McEntire of Dresden; two daughters, Kimberly (Michael) McEntire Hammonds of Dresden, and Lisa (Edward) Sanderson Brooks of Dresden; his mother, Retha Miller McEntire of Cement City, Michigan; a sister, Shirley Fletcher of Cement City, Michigan; a brother, John McEntire of Jackson, Michigan; and six grandchildren, Jordan and Hillary Brooks, Taylor White, Atticus, Chloe Grace, and Gatlin David Hammonds.
 

Emanda Lee Burress Harold

    Emanda Lee Burress Harold, 81, of Martin, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Harold were held Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Rev. Scott Penick officiated the services.
    Mrs. Harold was a homemaker. She was born May 25, 1926 in Ridgely to the late Robert E. Lee Burress and Cora Alice Holmes Burress.
    Mrs. Harold is survived by her husband, Mr. Norbert T. Harold of Martin; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Rowlett of Martin; four grandchildren, Lynn Dee Davis of Sharon, Alicia Stevens of Kansas City, Kansas, Kattie Suzanne Penick of Martin, and Kelly Jo Wilson of Sharon; and nine great-grandchildren.
 

James Wardell Baker

James Wardell Baker, 30, of Martin, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Baker were held Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Joe Williamson officiated the services.
Mr. Baker was a pack line employee with MTD Corporation and a graduate of Westview High School. He was born March 19, 1978 in Union City. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his father, James Larry Baker.
Mr. Baker is survived by his mother, Wilma Aileen Broglin Robinson of Sweetwater, Tennessee; three sisters, Lora Tuck of Greenfield, Kathy Thweatt (Marvin) of Martin, and Lillie Alkhashti of Martin; nieces and nephews, Christ Alkhashti, Chase Thweatt, Houston Alkashti, Kayla Johnson, and Chelsea Thweatt.
 

Kathryn Louise Adams

    Kathryn Louise Adams, 82, of Castle Rock, Colorado, formerly of Sharon, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Adams were held Monday, April 14, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon. Father Joe Paolozzi officiated the services.
    Mrs. Adams was retired from the retail industry. She was born April 20, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Paul Zimmerman and Catherine Conway Zimmerman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Adams; a son, Terrence Adams; and two brothers, Donald Zimmerman and Bud Zimmerman.
    Mrs. Adams is survived by five sons, Fred (Karen) Adams of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Gerald (Vickie) Adams of Castle Rock, Colorado, Larry (Nancy) Adams of Aurora, Illinois, Mark Adams of Chicago, Illinois, and Timothy Adams of Chicago, Illinois; a brother, Robert Zimmerman of Huntsville, Alabama; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 

Martha Simpson Thomas

    Martha Simpson Thomas, 91, of Dresden, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Graveside services for Mrs. Thomas were held Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery in Dukedom. Rev. Paul Merwin officiated the services.
    Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker, a school bus driver and manager of the Senior Citizens Center in Sharon. She was also a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Dukedom. Mrs. Thomas attended school at Welch Elementary School and Chestnut Glade High School. She graduated in 1935 from Dresden High School. Mrs. Thomas was born March 12, 1917 in Weakley County to the late Alton and Mollie Bet Simpson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was also preceded in death by her husband, whom she married in 1937, Mr. Raymond Lee Thomas; a sister, Mildred Winstead; and a brother, John Mack Simpson.
    Mrs. Thomas is survived by two daughters, Nina Kay Mitchell of Martin, and Martha Lynn Thomas of Paris; four sons, Dickie Thomas of Fruitland Park, Florida, Lannie Thomas of Fruitland Park, Florida, Dale Thomas of Vallejo, California, and Mike Thomas of Paris; a sister, Mable Cappie Pinkston of Macon, Georgia; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
    Memorial contributions in honor of Martha Thomas may be made to Pleasant View Cemetery Fund or to the Sharon Senior Citizens Center.
 

Maxey Mouzon Hopper

    Maxey Mouzon Hopper, 81, of Gleason, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Hopper were held Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home in Gleason. Burial followed in Butler Cemetery in Gleason.
    Mr. Hopper was a cattle dealer and a member of New Valley Methodist Church. He was born May 1, 1926 in Gleason to the late McKinley and Loveda Spence Hopper. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hopper was also preceded in death by his wife, Faye Hopper.
    Mr. Hopper is survived by two sons, Don Hopper of McKenzie, and Hall Hopper of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a daughter, Fonda Voigtman of Tupelo, Mississippi; a brother, Jerry Hopper of McKenzie; two sisters, Barbara Blackburn of McKenzie, and Vaida Olds of Paris; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
 

Maxine Hall Marcus

    Maxine Hall Marcus, 89, died March 6, 2008. Services were held March 9, 2008 at Wilmore Senior Community Center at Wesley Village. Burial was in Wilmore Cemetery.
    Mrs. Marcus, wife of sixty-nine years to Walter Neal Marcus, was born September 16, 1918 in Obion County to the late Howard and Gertrude Pope Hall. She was a retired hospital dietician, member of the First Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan, and the American Baptist Women's Association being a delegate for several years. After working for 35 years at Sparrow Hospital, she continued as a volunteer, she was an elected official for many years in Lansing, Michigan, and a homemaker.
    Additional survivors include two daughters, Virginia Marcus-Nicholasville, Marilyn Marcus-Simpsonville; two sons, Phillip (Sally) Marcus-CT, Lt. Col. Kevin (Cynthia) Marcus-Belgium; eight grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Zabilka, Laura (Wesley) Houp, both of Wilmore, Joshua Kinlaw, Abigail (Andrew) Wilder, both of Louisville, Caleb (Beth) Kinlaw-Scotland, Dennis Kinlaw III-Boston, Bradley Marcus-CT and Alice (Paul) Kreige-NY; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ollie Marie Bobo of Tennessee; and other family members.
 

Peter Gregory Bellavia

    Peter Gregory Bellavia, 70, of Dresden, died March 10, 2008, in Cebu City, Philippines. Memorial services for Mr. Bellavia were held Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Latham. Bro. Donald Doster officiated the services.
    Mr. Bellavia was a retired credit manager for Bushnell and a Catholic by faith. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Angelo John and Constance Scaduto Bellavia.
    Mr. Bellavia is survived by a sister, Carolyn (Thomas) Maxey of Dresden; a niece, Wendy Perry of Dresden; a nephew, Todd (Wendi) Maxie of Dresden; a great-niece, Lexie Perry of Dresden; two great-nephews, Parker and Austin Maxey of Dresden; and his fiance', Evangeline Villalas of Cebu City, Philippines.
