The Greenfield Lady 'Jackets continued their mammoth winning
streak, but the DMS girls made sure win No. 44 in that run
was not a gimmie, rallying in the second half before falling
38-34 to Greenfield on Monday night at Greenfield.
In boys action, the Yellowjackets cruised to a 53-27 win
over Dresden Middle School.
GJHS Lady 'Jackets 38
DMS Lady Lions 34
Though the Lady 'Jackets got off to nearly a double-digit
lead in the first half, the Lady Lions rallied to give the
Greenfield girls one of their toughest tests of the season.
Greenfield used a 9-2 run to start the game to set the tone
for the first half. A pair of free throws from Alex
Glisson broke that streak but a late jumper from Taylor
Hatcher made the score 11-4 at the end of the first frame.
Led by Hatcher, the Lady 'Jackets jumped out to a nine-point
lead early in the second frame, pushing the advantage to
17-8 with four minutes left in the first half. But,
the Lady Lions roared back with free throws from Glisson and
Kristen Childress and a jumper from Allie Phillips to cut
the lead to five points. Greenfield was able to
respond with a pair of free throws each from Hatcher and
Hannah Moseley as well as a freebie from Haley Rawls, but
Dresden answered right back with a pair of Glisson free
throws and a Jessica Jones deuce. A Moseley jumper
countered a Jones free throw to make the score 24-19 at the
end of the first half.

Lions fall to Bulldogs in Milan; Senior Night slated for
Friday |
|
The Dresden Lions traveled to Milan last Friday night to
take on the Bulldogs in a Region 8-2A contest. Milan
picked a win by outscoring the Lions 35-0 in a hard fought
game for both teams.
The Bulldogs picked up their first score midway through the
first quarter on a 32-yard pass to Rowdy Tredwell from
quarterback Justin Coleman. Jay Fields kicked the
extra point to give Milan a 7-0 advantage with 5:47
remaining in the opening frame.
Milan scored its second TD of the game on a three yard run
by Jabronski Gilbert with 8:19 remaining in the second
quarter. Fields kicked on the PAT was good to give the
Bulldogs a 14-0 advantage after finishing off the 54-yard
scoring drive.
Milan improved their lead to 21-0 with 1:35 remaining in the
first half of play on a 45-yard run by running back J.W.
Williams through the center of the Dresden defensive line.
Fields kick was good on the PAT to top off the 54 yard three
play scoring drive.

Chargers move to 9-0 for first time since 1970 |

With a Week 10 showdown for the Region 8-2A title with the
Milan Bulldogs looming, the Westview Chargers looked to go
9-0 for the first time since 1970 as they traveled to
Humboldt on Friday night.
Despite a slow start that has been uncharacteristic for the
Chargers in recent weeks, Westview rallied with 38
unanswered points after Humboldt's only touchdown to get a
38-8 win over the Vikings.
Neither team was able to get much going through much of the
first frame. In fact, a 10-yard run by Vincent Brown
was the game's first first down, coming on the final play of
the first frame. A pass from Darren Dunbar to Chauncey
Hunt followed that to open the second frame and covered 34
yards to take the Vikings across midfield. Though the
Charger defense stalled the Humboldt drive, the Vikings
pulled the proverbial trick out of their sleeve as Hunt took
the snap on a punt attempt and raced 30 yards to the
Westview 10-yard line for another Viking first down.
Westview's defense tightened up again, but on a
fourth-and-goal from the 4-yard line, Dunbar found Jason
Barker towards the side of the end zone for the touchdown.
The Vikings then faked the PAT, as Max Arnold hit Hunt for
the two-point conversion to make the score 8-0 with 8:04
left in the first half.
Westview's offense awakened from its slumber as Harrison
Moore took the first play of the next drive for a 10-yard
keeper, giving the Chargers the first down - their first of
the game. J.C. Griggs followed with a 15-yard run,
then, two plays later, DiMarcus Williams added a 14-yard
pickup to give the Chargers a pair of first downs.
But, the drive stalled at the 11-yard line. Westview
did get on the scoreboard though as Hyuntae Kim booted a
27-yard field goal to make the score 8-3 with 4:26 left in
the half.
