Charlie "Buck" Rush

     Charlie "Buck" Rush, 85, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Weakley County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Dresden. Funeral services for Mr. Rush were held Thursday, May 24, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel-Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern. Rev. Jerry Taylor officiated the services.
     Mr. Rush was a farmer and a former employee of Forcum Lannon Contractors. He was also a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. Mr. Rush was born June 14, 1921 in Dyer County to the late Romie Rush and Lessie Mae (Hall) Rush. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rush was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Jude; a brother, Bill Rush; and a nephew, Ceaford Jude.
     Mr. Rush is survived by two nieces, Anita Mae Blair of Greenfield, and Pamela Rush Jenkins of Mt. Pelia; a great-niece, Heather St. Romain of Greenfield; a great-nephew, Jon Jenkins of Mt. Pelia; and a great-great-nephew, Elijah St. Romain of Greenfield.
 

David Franklin Doster

     David Franklin Doster, age 67, of Dresden, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services for Mr. Doster were held Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Roy Auvenshine, Bro. Terry Graves, Bro. Donald Doster, and Bro. Dennis Doster officiated the services.
     Mr. Doster was a salesman. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Dresden and the Masonic Lodge of Dresden. Mr. Doster was born June 18, 1939 in Dresden. He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. "Gube" Doster.
     Mr. Doster is survived by his wife, Mrs. Linda Gail Gearin Doster of Dresden; two daughters, Lacey LeAnn Doster of Dresden, and Melissa (Tim) Sellers of Dresden; a son, Patrick (Kerry) O'Connell III of Elkton, Missouri; his mother, Mrs. Frances Mosley Doster of Dresden; four sisters, Joyce Kyle of Dresden, Linda Hardin of Medina, Brenda Cagle of Dresden, and Judy Graves of Gadsden; two brothers, Donald Doster of Dresden, and Dennis Doster of Dresden; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 

David Lynn Williams

     David Lynn Williams, 50, of Paris, died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at his home.
     Mr. Williams formerly worked at World Color in Dresden as a press operator. He was a Baptist by faith and a high school graduate.
     Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, whom he married June 26, 1999, Dawn Weston Williams of Paris; a daughter, Janna Williams Kaler of Union City; his parents, Leonard (Dot) Williams of Norman, Oklahoma, and Alma (Alexander) VanDyke of Collierville, Tennessee; a brother, Chuck (Glenda) Williams of Collierville, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Kyle Elam of Union City, and Trey Adams of Union City.
 

Dennis Auvenshine

     Dennis Wayne Auvenshine, of Merit, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Kindred Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services for Mr. Auvenshine were held Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Auvenshine officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
     Mr. Auvenshine was born February 21, 1947 in Martin, the son of C.D. and Elaine Underwood Auvenshine. He married Norma Choate on August 30, 1986, in Dallas. Mr. Auvenshine was a carpenter and was a member of Mineral Heights Baptist Church.
     Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Merit; his mother, Elaine Underwood Auvenshine of Dresden; a son, Shawn Trammell of Coppell; daughters, Shelia Boaz of McKenzie, Debbie Sorensen of Rockwall, and Angela Lounds of Lansing, Michigan; brothers, Debro Auvenshine of Aiken, South Carolina, John Auvenshine of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Roy Auvenshine of Dresden, and Donald Auvenshine of Lansing, Michigan; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his father in 2002; a son, Craig Anthony Auvenshine; and a daughter, Sherry Denise Auvenshine.
 

Edna Avon Buckley Smith

     Edna Avon Buckley Smith, 97, of Dresden, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Weakley County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Dresden. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery near Dukedom. Jerry Dale Smith and Donald Smith officiated the services.
     Mrs. Smith was a housewife and a member of Union Chapel Church of Christ in Palmersville. She was a native of Latham and the daughter of the late Millard Goodin and Julia Ann Winstead Buckley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William Jackson Smith; two brothers, Sam and Albert Buckley; and a grandson, Brian Smith.
     Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Donna Kay Workman of Dresden; two sons, Gary Dale Smith of Dresden, and Donald Smith of Novato, California; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
 

Gerald Ray Wiley

     Gerald Ray Wiley, 67, of Sharon, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Wiley were held Friday, May 25, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Sharon Church of Christ. Burial followed in Tansil Cemetery. Richard Guill and Brent Arnold officiated the services.
     Mr. Wiley worked for WSW for 42 years. He was born June 28, 1939 in Gibson County. Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by four sisters, Eva Smith, Dollie Hogue, Louise Loveland, and Dessie McDonald; two half-sisters, Virginia Jones and Cecil Cook; and two half-brothers, Lowell Wiley and Alfred Wiley.
     Mr. Wiley is survived by three sons, Craig (Vickie) Wiley of Sharon, Mike (Jenny) Wiley of Sharon, and Tony (Tammy) Wiley of Sharon; six sisters, Ann Gardner of Martin, Carol Garrett of Martin, Grace McKay of Martin, Linda Muzzall of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kay Orr of Sharon, and Sue Wilson of Martin; a half-brother, Guy Wiley of Sharon; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
 

I.D. Welch

     I.D. Welch, 91, of Huntingdon, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Welch were held Friday, May 25, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Greenfield. Nickie McMinn officiated the services.
     Mr. Welch was a custodian for the Weakley County School System. He was born March 28, 1916 in Parson, Tennessee to the late William and Clyde Welch.
     Mr. Welch is survived by his wife, Ruby Welch of Huntingdon; three sons, Donald Welch of Huntingdon, Tony Welch of Huntingdon, and Vern Cooper Welch of Milan; two daughters, Kay Hayes of McKenzie, and Kathy Duffina of Dresden; and nine grandchildren.
 

Jane Forrester Moore

     Jane Forrester Moore, 71, of Martin, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Moore were held Sunday, May 27, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
     Mrs. Moore worked for City Dry Cleaners and was a graduate of Sharon High School. She was a member of Public Wells Baptist Church. Mrs. Moore was born June 23, 1935 in Sharon to the late Johnny Forrester and Myrtle Hawks Forrester. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was also preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Mitchell; a brother, G.W. Forrester; and two sisters, Ruth Campbell and Betty Milner.
     Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Donald Moore of Martin; two sons, Jamie Knipper of Lockport, Louisiana, and Jason Knipper of England; a stepson, Roy Moore of Medina; a daughter, Jo Ann Mitchell of Sarasota, Florida; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Ward of Jackson; a brother, Halford Forrester of Petty, Michigan; three sisters, L.V. Fuqua of Sharon, Christine Adams of Martin, and Linda Dailey of Martin; fourteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
 

Mildred Copeland Covington

     Mildred Copeland Covington, 85, of Martin, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Covington were held Sunday, May 27, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Bro. Roger S. Oldham officiated the services.
     Mrs. Covington was retired from Martin Manufacturing and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was born May 5, 1922 in Martin to the late George Perry Copeland and Viola Allene Yates Copeland. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Covington was also preceded in death by three brothers, W.D. Copeland, J.R. Copeland, and Charles Copeland.
     Mrs. Covington is survived by her husband, whom she married March 30, 1940, James "Doc" Covington of Martin; a son, James Steven Covington of Columbia, South Carolina; a brother, Tom Copeland of Martin; a sister, Irene Harper of Martin; two grandchildren, Shane Covington of Atlanta, Georgia, and Cody Covington of Atlanta, Georgia; and one great-grandchild, Masha Covington of Atlanta, Georgia.
 

Pearl Irene Stow Laws

     Pearl Irene Stow Laws, 91, of Latham, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Milan General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Laws were held Sunday, May 27, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church near Latham. Burial followed in New Hope Church Cemetery. Dr. Gerald Stow, Bro. Donald Doster, Bro. DeWayne Harris, and Bro. Kenneth Williams officiated the services.
     Mrs. Laws was a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years, and was a leader of the church's W.M.U. Mrs. Laws was born in Weakley County to the late Ed and Nancy Thompson Stow. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Laws was also preceded in death by her husband, William Homer Laws; and a brother, Buck Stow.
     Mrs. Laws is survived by two daughters, Katie (Sam) Perkins of Birmingham, Alabama, and Judy (Richard) Rood of Troy, Michigan; a son, John (Patsy) Laws of Lawrenceville, Georgia; a sister, Ethleen Stow Stewart of Nashville; two sisters-in-law, Alberta Laws of Martin, and Conelia Laws of Ashland City, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Diane May of Dacula, Georgia, Paige Perkins of Chamblee, Georgia, Sharla Perkins of Orlando, Florida, Christy Parker of Hoover, Alabama, Mark Laws of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Terry Laws of Charlotte, North Carolina, Rich Rood of Vergennes, Vermont, and Joe Rood of Rochester Hills, Michigan; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
 

Rachel Faye Rockett

     Rachel Faye Rockett, 64, of Dresden, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Rockett were held Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Bradberry Cemetery. Rev. Robert Johnson officiated the services.
     Mrs. Rockett was a factory worker at H.I.S./Kellwood and a member of Hodges Chapel Church. She was born December 21, 1942 in Dresden to the late Otis and Dora (Rawl) Bradberry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rockett was also preceded in death by four brothers, George Bradberry, Norman Bradberry, R.D. Bradberry and Jewel Bradberry; and two sisters, Rosie Filtz and Florence Beatrice Bradberry.
     Mrs. Rockett is survived by her husband, Jerrell Rockett; two sons, Jimmy Rockett of Dresden, and Tommy Rockett of McKenzie; a daughter, Donna Moore of Dresden; two brothers, Bobby Bradberry of Dresden, and Paul Bradberry of Water Valley, Kentucky; two sisters, Maxine Adams of Dresden, and Virginia Ricketts of Greenfield; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
