Barbara Gean Edwards
Barbara Gean Edwards, 59, of Gleason, died Monday, April 23,
2007, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Graveside services for
Ms. Edwards were held Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at 11:00
a.m. at New Valley Cemetery in Gleason. Rev. Keith Sumner
officiated the services.
Ms. Edwards was a homemaker and a member of Beech Springs
Baptist Church. She was born December 3, 1947 in Martin to
the late Neal and Betty Bolton Mayo. In addition to her
parents, Ms. Edwards was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Deloris Ann McDaniel.
Ms. Edwards is survived by two daughters, Alice Choate of
Gleason, and Elissa Bates of Sharon; two brothers, Joe Neal
Mayo of Gleason, and Ricky Mayo of Union City; two sisters,
Carol Clary of Cottage Grove, and Mary Clement of Gleason;
and six grandchildren.
Charles Ervin Plunk
Charles Ervin Plunk, 57, of Camden, died Wednesday, April
25, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Plunk were held Saturday, April 28,
2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Maggie Jones Methodist Church in
Finger, Tennessee. Burial followed in Maggie Jones Methodist
Church Cemetery. Blake Carrol officiated the services.
Mr. Plunk was an assembly worker at S&W Pallet Company in
Camden. He was born in McNairy County to the late Walter A.
and Annie Lee Burkeens Plunk.
Mr. Plunk is survived by three sons, Timothy Plunk of
Camden, Jeff Plunk of Ashland City, Tennessee, and Phillip
Plunk of Ashland City, Tennessee; a sister, Linda Garner of
Bethel Springs, Tennessee; and two grandchildren.
Elbert Lee McGraw
Elbert Lee McGraw, 83, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007. Funeral
services for Mr. McGraw were held Saturday, April 21, 2007,
at 11:00 a.m. at Fuller Street Baptist Church in Dresden.
Pastor Cedric Robinson officiated the services.
Mr. McGraw was born July 26, 1923 in Refarm, Alabama to the
late Elbert McGraw and Olive Vinzard-McGraw. He was a member
of Fuller Street Baptist Church in Dresden. Mr. McGraw was
always self-employed. He continued to work for himself as he
became employed by UT in 1970. He was employed and retired
from University of Tennessee-Martin as Building and Grounds
Servicing. Mr. McGraw was preceded in death by his father,
Elbert McGraw; his mother, Oliva Vinzard-McGraw; three
sisters, Caldonia Hudgins, Allie-McGraw-Simond, and Jewel
McGraw.
Mr. McGraw is survived by his wife, Ebbie McGraw; one
brother, Elbert Ray (Lucille) McGraw of Delray Beach,
Florida, sisters, Diane (Willie) Gerald of South Carolina,
Berthene Smith of St. Louis, Missouri, Betty Simmons of St.
Louis, Missouri, Ollie Bell White of Martin, Catherine Reed
of Shuqualak, Mississippi, and Maxine (Bob) Cason of St.
Louis, Missouri; children and stepchildren, Ruthie (Douglas)
Carter of Martin, Fannie (Cedric) Robinson of Martin, Johnny
(Helen) McGraw of Martin, Robert Lee (Rudine) McGraw of
Martin, Darlene (Arthur) Henderson of WPB, Florida, Beatrice
(Ray) McGowan of Jackson, Mississippi, Napoleon (Dorothy)
Stephens of WPB, Florida, A.J. Stephens of Martin, Christine

Ellen Virginia Sanderfer
Ellen Virginia Sanderfer, 92, of Dresden, died Saturday,
April 28, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital
in Jackson. Funeral services for Mrs. Sanderfer were held
Monday, April 30, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in
Dresden. Rev. James D. Wilson and Bro. Dwayne Maxey
officiated the services.
Mrs. Sanderfer was a retired seamstress at Martin
Manufacturing Co. and was the oldest member of the Dresden
Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was born in Weakley
County to the late Jedithan M. and Margaret Hall Gregory. In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Sanderfer was also preceded in
death by her husband, Paul Sanderfer.
Mrs. Sanderfer is survived by nieces and nephews, Millard
(Marie) Maxey of Dresden, Stella Mae Coats of Dresden,
Chester (Hilde) Gregory of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Margaret
Elizabeth (Mayo) Watts of Martin, Frances Louise Pierpoint
of Martin, and Rachel Thompson of Martin; thirteen
great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and
nephews.
Isabelle Taylor
Isabelle Taylor, 82, of Gleason, died Thursday, April 26,
2007, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Funeral
services for Mrs. Taylor were held Sunday, April 29, 2007,
at 2:00 p.m. at Tumbling Creek Baptist Church. Burial
followed in Butler Cemetery. Rev. Gene Price, Rev. Dayne
Hawks, Luke Hughes, and Wendell McCoy officiated the
services.
Mrs. Taylor was a retired machine operator and a member of
Tumbling Creek Baptist Church. She was born November 30,
1924 in Gleason to the late Leonard and Annie Foster Oliver.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was also preceded in
death by her husband, Joe Taylor; two brothers, Henry Lee
Oliver and Phillip Oliver; and a sister, Luetta Maddox Good.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by five daughters, Jozella Johnson
of Gleason, Ann Ellis of Gleason, Katrina Pence of Gleason,
Roxie Dublin of McKenzie, and Reneigh Rogers of Gleason; six
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Lottie Mae Gardner Winstead
Lottie Mae Gardner Winstead, 94, of Martin, died Saturday,
April 28, 2007, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Home in Martin.
Graveside services for Mrs. Winstead were held Tuesday, May
1, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev.
Larry Kendrick officiated the services.
Mrs. Winstead was a homemaker and a member of the First
United Methodist Church. She was born March 14, 1913 in
Weakley County to the late John C. Gardner and Dove
Childress Gardner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winstead
was also preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Winstead;
and two brothers, John Calvin Gardner and James Milburn
Gardner.
Mrs. Winstead is survived by a son, Billy Joe Winstead of
Martin; two grandchildren, Sarae (Tom) Seratt, and Susan
(Lance) Patton; and three great-grandchildren, Tommy Seratt,
Emily Patton, and Biran Patton.
Pansy Laverne Martin
Pansy Laverne Martin, 99, of Gleason, died Tuesday, April
24, 2007, at McKenzie Healthcare. Funeral services for Mrs.
Martin were held Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at
First Baptist Church in Gleason. Burial followed in Mt.
Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie. Rev. Keith Sumner officiated
the services.
Mrs. Martin was a business merchant and a member of Seminary
Methodist Church. She was born November 11, 1907 in McKenzie
to the late William Shaw and Sally Fly Houston. In addition
to her parents, Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by
her husband, Wilbon Martin.
Mrs. Martin is survived by a son, Jack Martin of McKenzie; a
daughter, Mary Margaret Beasley of Gleason; two sisters,
Mary Francis Phelps of Waldren, Arkansas, and Ina Mai
Berryhill of McKenzie; three grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Rubye Lavada Bradberry
Rubye Lavada Bradberry, 92, of Dresden, died Friday, April
27, 2007, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Funeral
services for Mrs. Bradberry were held Monday, April 30,
2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in
Gleason. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Judge James
H. Bradberry and Rev. Steve Boone officiated the services.
Mrs. Bradberry was a homemaker and a member of the Gleason
Church of Christ. She was born October 9, 1914 in Fulton,
Kentucky to the late Thomas and Bertie (Sims) Sharpe. In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Bradberry was also preceded in
death by her husband, Harold Bradberry; a brother, Paul
Sharpe; and two sisters, Mattie Trentham and Ruth Brasfield.
Mrs. Bradberry is survived by two sons, Judge James H.
Bradberry of Dresden, and Terry Bradberry of New York City,
New York; a daughter, Sandra Huskins of Memphis, Tennessee;
four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Treva Ray Lamb
Treva Ray Lamb, 84, of Martin, died Saturday, April 28,
2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Mrs. Lamb will be held Thursday, May 3, 2007,
at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will
follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Larry Kendrick
will officiate the services.
Mrs. Lamb was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was born August 10, 1922 in Weakley County to the late
Roy Ray and Lillie Thomas Ray. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Lamb was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles
C. Lamb; and a brother, Charles (Moose) Ray.
Mrs. Lamb is survived by two sons, Mike Lamb of Ellisville,
Missouri, and Ray Lamb of Martin; six grandchildren,
Christie (Rob) Stewart of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jeremy (Angie)
Lamb of Union City, Megan (Justin) Cheek of Troy, Tracy
(Bob) McCarthy of Twenty Nine Oaks, California, Andie Lamb
of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jenny (Mike) McCulloch of
Scottsdale, Arizona; and five great-grandchildren.
Vincent "Slick" Mansfield
Vincent "Slick" Mansfield, 86, of Dresden, died Tuesday,
April 24, 2007, at his home. Funeral services for Mr.
Mansfield were held Thursday, April 26, 2007, at 2:00 p.m.
at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in
Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Jim Barnhouse officiated
the services.
Mr. Mansfield was a retired business owner. He was a member
of Mack's Grove Baptist Church, American Legion Post #94,
V.F.W., and the Dresden Elks Lodge #2373. Mr. Mansfield
served his country honorably as a member of the United
States Navy. During his 3 1/2 years, he was part of four
invasions in the South Pacific including Tipan, Sipan, Layta,
and Luzone. Mr. Mansfield was a native of Dresden and the
son of the late Rubbin Hershel and Cora Mai Workman
Mansfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mansfield was
also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Breeding and
Ruth McClure; and two brothers, Dan Mansfield and Gaylon
Mansfield.
Mr. Mansfield is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margie Faye
Mansfield of Dresden; a daughter, Faye (Bob) Nance of
Murray, Kentucky; two sons, Joey Mansfield of Dresden, and
Ronnie (Tammy) Mansfield of Hendersonville, Tennessee; three
sisters, Pat Betts of Lansing, Michigan, Betty Gills of
Lynnville, Kentucky, and Brenda Trevathan of Dresden; five
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Virginia Faye Hicks
Virginia Faye Hicks, 87, of Gleason, died Monday, April 23,
2007, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Funeral
services for Mrs. Hicks were held Thursday, April 26, 2007,
at 11:00 a.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason.
Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Dale Mathis and
Rev. Ben Wainscott officiated the services.
Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and a member of El Bethel
Methodist Church. She was born April 16, 1920 in Gleason to
the late William David and Eva May Jones Ozment. In addition
to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was also preceded in death by her
husband, Doyle C. Hicks; and a sister, Eula May Gorham.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by a daughter, Nancy Williams of
Gleason; a brother, Harold Thomas Ozment of Hurricane Mills,
Tennessee; two sisters, Rozelle Wiseman of Gleason, and
Billie Sue Hudson of Gleason; three grandchildren, April
Lieberman of Atlanta, Georgia, Holly Adams of Edmond,
Oklahoma, and Rebecca Padgett of Clarksville, Tennessee; and
seven great-grandchildren.
