Albert Lester VanCleave Albert Lester VanCleave, 81, of Martin, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. VanCleave were held Sunday, March 4, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Methodist Church. Burial followed in Martin Memorial Gardens in Martin. Rev. Larry Humbert and Rev. Franklin Gardner officiated the services. Mr. VanCleave was a retired farmer and a member of Gardner Methodist Church. He was born March 13, 1925 in Weakley County to the late U.S. VanCleave and Effie Mae Bradberry VanCleave. In addition to his parents, Mr. VanCleave was also preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin VanCleave and Herman VanCleave. Mr. VanCleave is survived by his wife, Russellene Gardner VanCleave of Martin; three sons, Roger VanCleave of Martin, Waymon VanCleave of Martin, and Terry VanCleave of Martin; a daughter, Lana Lee of Martin; a sister, Irene Sadler of Martin; ten grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and six great-grandchildren. Ann Killebrew Funeral services for Ann Killebrew, 72, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Harry Workman and Rev. Anita Killebrew officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Ms. Killebrew, a retired employee of A.O. Smith Corp., died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born March 11, 1934, in Martin, daughter of the late Hoyt Killebrew and Charlie Mae Martin Killebrew. She had been living in Milan since 1979. Ms. Killebrew was a member of the Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She served as a deacon and sang in the church choir. She served on the Worship Committee and was a member of The Oakwood Cemetery Board. Survivors include two brothers, Charles Killebrew and wife, Kay, of Bryson City, North Carolina, and George Killebrew and wife, Linda, of Milan; one niece, Rev. Anita Killebrew; one nephew, Chad Killebrew; and three great-nephews, Chad Futrell, Charlie Killebrew, and Andy Killebrew. Arthur L. Sparks, Sr. Arthur L. Sparks, Sr., 87, of Martin, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Sparks were held Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in McKenzie. Rev. Mace Jett officiated the services. Mr. Sparks was retired from the University of Tennessee at Martin as an Associate Professor of Mathematics. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Martin and Martin American Legion Post #69. He received a B.A. Degree from Bethel College and a M.A. Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers. Mr. Sparks was born December 16, 1919 in McKenzie to the late Lonnie Thomas Sparks and Ethel Cody Sparks. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sparks was also preceded in death by a brother, Rev. George W. Sparks. Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nelle Luckey Sparks of Martin; a son, Arthur L. Sparks, Jr. (Tammy) of Union City; a daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Jarrett of Birmingham, Alabama; a sister, Margaret Mebane of McKenzie; two grandchildren, Jeni Beth Vincent of Martin, and Emily Anne Sparks of Union City; two step-grandchildren, John Jarrett of Alabaster, Alabama, and Jeff Jarrett of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one great-grandchild, Logan Arthur Vincent; and one step-great-grandchild, John Alexander Jarrett. Billie Ray Marshall Billie Ray Marshall, 70, of Gleason, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Marshall were held Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in West Union Cemetery in Dresden. Rev. Dennis Beal officiated the services. Mr. Marshall was retired from the military and Murray Outdoor Products. He was veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in McKenzie and the DAV. Mr. Marshall was born July 8, 1936 in Hohenwald, Tennessee to the late James Alvis and Addie Paschall Marshall. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marshall was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Marshall. Mr. Marshall is survived by two sisters, Opal Barker of McKenzie, and Betty Collins of Amity, Oregon; and five stepchildren. Robert Joe Todd Robert Joe Todd, 73, of Martin, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Graveside services for Mr. Todd were held Tuesday, March 6, 2006, at 12:00 p.m. at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Don Bullock officiated the services. Mr. Todd was retired from Martin Manufacturing Company and was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. He was born July 23, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Uley Todd and Essie Todd. In addition to his parents, Mr. Todd was also preceded in death by his wife, Sue Price Todd. Mr. Todd is survived by three sons, David Todd of Dresden, Roger Todd of Dresden, and Joe Allen Todd of Dresden; a daughter, Louise Todd of Union City; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Roy Wade Roy Wade, 89, of Martin, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Wade were held Thursday, March 1, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home with burial in Martin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jerry Summers officiated the services. Mr. Wade was a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Sharon. He was born February 19, 1918 in Weakley County to the late Connie Wade and Myrtle Brooks Wade. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wade was also preceded in death by four brothers, William Wade, James Wade, Oscar Wade, and Aubrey Wade. Mr. Wade is survived by his wife, Mrs. Thurla Mae (TEET) Bizwell Wade of Martin; four daughters, Virginia Kelly of Martin, Carol Pinkleton of Martin, Sandra McElhiney of Gleason, and Betsy Pluckett of Dickson, Tennessee; two sisters, Margie Cantrell of Martin, and Hattie Waggener of Nashville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Thomas Hansbrough, Ph.D. A professor and director of the School of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries at LSU and a retired colonel of the Marine Corps Reserves and former Marine aviator in World War II and Korea, Thomas Hansbrough passed away Friday, February 23, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 83, a native of Greenfield, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 26, 2007, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. The interment was held at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Moore Walker Hansbrough; daughter, Dr. Faith Hansbrough; son, Dr. Thomas Allen Hansbrough; grandchildren, Thomas Allen Hansbrough, Jr., Leigh Meredith Fahr, Andrew Luke Hargroder, and Virginia Grace Hargroder; great-grandson, Thomas Allen Hansbrough III; and one sister, Frances (Hansbrough) Yarbro. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Sanders Hansbrough; father, M.T. Hansbrough; mother, C.A. Hansbrough; sister, Anna Kathryn (Hansbrough) Grice; and brothers, Mac Hansbrough, Charles Allen Hansbrough, and Robert L. (Hansbrough) Moore. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Forestry from LSU in 1949, Master's degree in Forestry in 1957, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from LSU in 1961. He enlisted as a cadet with the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was commissioned as a naval aviator on December 24, 1943. He saw active duty in the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 through 1946 and was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1955. He retired as a colonel after 30 years of distinguished service to his country. Dr. Hansbrough served LSU in many capacities from 1949 until 1970; as teacher, administrator and as a researcher from 1970 until 1977. He also founded and directed the Forestry School at the University of Kentucky before returning to LSU, where he became director of the School of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries, securing new facilities for the school. Dr. Hansbrough was a member of the Society of American Foresters, former executive secretary of the LSU Forestry Alumni Association, former vice-president of the Reserve Officers Association, Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Kappa Delta, Marine Corps Reserve Officers Association and the Navy League. He was a devoted member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. Virginia Ann Klutts Virginia Ann Klutts, 83, of Dresden, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Funeral services for Ms. Klutts were held Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon. Burial followed in Campground Cemetery near Martin. Rev. Tommy Jowers officiated the services. Ms. Klutts was a homemaker. She was born November 4, 1923 in Weakley County. Ms. Klutts is survived by two sons, David Klutts of Martin, and Paul Klutts of Martin; four grandchildren, April Goode of Martin, Tracy Hollis of Martin, Tyler Klutts of Martin, and Tarena Klutts-Wong of Kansas City, Missouri; and three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hollis of Martin, Jade Klutts-Wong of Kansas City, Missouri, and Zachary Parsley of McKenzie. William Lee Dodson, Sr. William Lee Dodson, Sr., 65, of Rives, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at his home. Private services were held. Mr. Dodson was a mechanic for Kenton Grain Company and was a member of Alamo Baptist Church. He was born June 26, 1941 in Culpepper, Virginia to the late Cleveland Dodson and Virginia Rowzie Dodson. Mr. Dodson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Bird Dodson of Rives; three sons, William Lee Dodson, Jr. of Gordonsville, Virginia, George Dodson of Greenfield, and Josh Dodson of Martin; two daughters, Sherry Wilkerson of Martin, and Jenny Page of Union City; a brother, Steve Dodson of Culpepper, Virginia; and twelve grandchildren. William R. "Dick" Grace William R. "Dick" Grace, 82, of Martin, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Grace were held Friday, March 2, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Kentucky. Burial followed in Camp Beauregard Cemetery in Water Valley, Kentucky. Mr. Grace was a retired engineer for Norris-Thermador in Los Angeles, California. He had made his home in Los Angeles for over 50 years before returning to this area in 2000. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Whittier, California. Mr. Grace was born August 9, 1924 in Graves County, Kentucky to the late John Richard Grace and Grace Ann (Pritchard) Grace. Mr. Grace is survived by his wife, Beulah (Grissom) Grace of Martin, whom he married February 8, 1948; five nieces; three nephews; and a sister-in-law, Audell Collier of Martin.
