Bobbie Wanette Freeman

    
Bobbie Wanette Freeman, 40, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at her home in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born January 8, 1967 in Pikeville, Tennessee, and grew up in Greenfield. She is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Lee Freeman of Greenfield; and grandparents, Martha Burtram of Dunlap, Tennessee, and Spurgell and Audrey Freeman of Martin.
     She is the mother of Alan and Bryan Alexander, both of Trenton; daughter of Wanda Brittain and adoptive father, Jimmy Brittain of Jackson; granddaughter of Cordell Burtrum of Dunlap, Tennessee; and sister of Debbie Carter of McKinney, Texas, Sandra Roberts of Dresden, Bobby Freeman of Frisco, Texas, Linda Yoshino of Frisco, Texas, and Nathan Freeman of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
     Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2007, at Shelton Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial was in Davidson Chapel Cemetery.

 

Bonnie Ruth Williams Danner

    
Bonnie Ruth Williams Danner, 85, of Martin, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Danner were held Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Rev. Roger Lipe officiated the services.
     Mrs. Danner formerly worked at Greenfield High School, Martin Primary School, and Moore Fruit Company. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Danner was born November 29, 1921 in Weakley County to the late Elwood Williams and Ethel Harper Williams.
     Mrs. Danner is survived by her husband, Mr. Carl Danner, Jr. of Martin; two sons, Donald Danner of Martin, and Phillip Danner of Dresden; a daughter, Barbara Danner Houston of Martin; five brothers, Doyle Williams of Chicago, Illinois, Harold Williams of Martin, Charles Williams of Alabama, Rev. Kenneth Gene Williams of Dresden, and Richard Dean Williams of Dresden; four sisters, Margie VanSkike of Dresden, Margaret Warren of Branson, Missouri, Lyndell Bradberry of Dresden, and Katie Wheat of Dresden; six grandchildren, Cherie Weldon, Kristy Houston, Jason Danner, Tara Bradford, Janeane Stone, and Andy Danner; and ten great-grandchildren.

 

Dorothy Jane Powell

     Dorothy Jane Powell, 86, of Memphis, was born November 26, 1920 in Jackson, Tennessee and died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital, Memphis. Graveside services for Ms. Powell were held Monday, June 25, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery. Dr. Don McCulley, pastor of First Baptist Church in Dresden, officiated the services.
     Ms. Powell was a retired nursing instructor from University of Tennessee at Martin, graduated from nursing school at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, furthered her education at Siena College and Memphis State University, where she received her masters degree. She was on the nursing faculty at Baptist Hospital, Memphis, University of Tennessee Martin, Lumberton Hospital in North Carolina, Columbia Community College, Columbia, Tennessee, and was a faithful member of Eudora Baptist Church in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, James N. and Cora Murchison Powell; and two brothers, David and Walter B. Powell.
     Ms. Powell is survived by her brother, Leon Powell, and his wife, Ruby Jean of Memphis; sister-in-law, Joyce Powell of Memphis; and eight nieces and nephews.
 

Jewell Thomas Williams

     Jewell Thomas Williams, 80, of Greenfield, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Williams were held Monday, June 25, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Liberty Apostolic Church Cemetery near Dresden. Bro. Dennis Cobb and Bro. R.T. Bennett officiated the services.
     Mr. Williams was a retired truck driver for KT Clay Company and retired Rescue Squad Chater Member and three term Captain. He was Apostolic by faith. Mr. Williams was born April 5, 1927, the son of the late Charlie Lee and Audrey Mae Dicus Williams. He was a native of Carlisle County, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Lockhart Williams.
     Mr. Williams is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Kaye Daniel of Judsonia, Arkansas; daughters, Judy Gassaway of Searcy, Arkansas, and Tommie (Al) Hoofman of Judsonia, Arkansas; sons, David Williams of Judsonia, Arkansas, and Dan Williams of Cabot, Arkansas; stepson, Shawn Lockhart of Greenfield; brother, Lee Earl (Naomi) Williams of Sharon; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
 

Louise Winston Snider

     Louise Winston Snider, 83, of Martin, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Martin Health Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Snider were held Friday, June 22, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery. Rev. Wendell Jellison officiated the services.
     Mrs. Snider formerly worked at Weakley County Hospital and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was born April 2, 1924 in Martin to the late William (Rip) Winston and Janie Anders Winston. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snider was also preceded in death by her husband, Tom Snider; four brothers, Coy Lee Winston, Floyd Winston, Mack Winston, and Tom Winston; four sisters, Metta Bell, Monnie Tuck, Pauline Davidson, and Lena Cox; and one great-grandchild.
     Mrs. Snider is survived by four sons, Danny Snider of Dresden, Aaron Snider of Martin, Jimmy Snider of Martin, and Jeff Snider of Martin; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
 

Mary Frances Petty

     Mary Frances Petty, 80, of Sharon, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at Martin Health Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Petty were held Thursday, June 14, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Gerry Gallimore officiated the services.
     Mrs. Petty was born November 3, 1926. She was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Edward Petty.
     Survivors include her husband, Dennis Petty, Sr. of Sharon; two sons, Dennis (Donna) Petty, Jr. of Greenfield, and Jerry Thomas (Jo Ann) Petty of Sharon; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
 

Mildred Erwin Adams

     Mildred Erwin Adams, 89, of Dresden, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be held today, Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Tony Terrell will officiate the services.
     Mrs. Adams formerly worked at Martin Manufacturing Company and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and the W.M.U. Christian Women's Club. She was born December 1, 1917 in Sharon to the late Rev. Charles Erwin and Ruth McGehee Erwin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was also preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow (Woody) Adams; a son, Wally Adams; three brothers, Fred M. Erwin, Joseph E. Erwin, and Charles J. Erwin; and a sister, Evangeline Erwin.
     Mrs. Adams is survived by three sons, Elbert Adams of Chicago, Illinois, David Adams of White Mountain Lake, Arizona, and Michael Adams of Sugar Grove, Illinois; a daughter, Linda Burnett of Clinton, Iowa; a brother, Thomas L. Erwin of Martin; three sisters, Mary McConnell of Martin, Virginia West of Chicago, Illinois, and Florence McKeever of Holland, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
 

Mrs. L.C. Mitchell

     Mrs. L.C. Mitchell of Springville, Tennessee, formerly of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007. She was 88 years of age and a resident of the McKenzie Rehabilitation Center of McKenzie. She was a member of Springville Baptist Church.
     Mrs. Mitchell was the former Mildred Maurine Harrison and the daughter of the late Willie and Ollie Harrison of Greenfield. She was a sister to the late Thomas, Casey, Doyle, and James Harrison of Greenfield and Martin.
     She leaves L.C. Mitchell, her husband of 68 years. Her and her family lived in Martin and she was an active member of Central Baptist Church, where she was a teacher of intermediate girls in years past. She also leaves two sons, Earl Glynn "Mitch" Mitchell and David Lynn Mitchell, formerly of Martin; four grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren of David and Marsha Mitchell; and eight great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Mitchell were held Saturday, June 23, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery in Greenfield.
 

Raymond Earl Hugueley

     Raymond Earl Hugueley, 77, of Gleason, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Hugueley were held Monday, June 25, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Weakley County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Sam Swanson officiated the services.
     Mr. Hugueley was retired from Henry County Co-Op and was a farmer. He was also a member of the Gleason Church of Christ. Mr. Hugueley was born November 13, 1929 in Newbern to the late Ervin Hugueley and Gladys Redding Terry.
     Mr. Hugueley is survived by his wife, Ann Chandler Hugueley; a son, Brad Hugueley of Rossville, Tennessee; three daughters, Vickie Ross of Gleason, Kay Cooper of McKenzie, and Sandra Gibbons of Gleason; a brother, Bobby Hugueley of Gleason; two sisters, Irma Moody of Como, and Peggy Matlock of McKenzie; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
 

Rev. Charles Edward Bailey

     Rev. Charles Edward Bailey, 75, of Gleason, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at his home. Funeral services for Rev. Bailey were held Saturday, June 23, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Olive Branch Cemetery. Rev. Roy Auvenshine and Rev. Dewayne Thomas officiated the services.
     Rev. Bailey was a retired Baptist Minister of 42 years and a member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church. He was born November 20, 1931 in Gleason to the late Raymond and Cora (Stephens) Bailey. In addition to his parents, Rev. Bailey was also preceded in death by a brother, W.T. Bailey; and a sister, Stella Dilday.
     Rev. Bailey is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bailey; a son, Randy (Kelle) Bailey of Gleason; two daughters, Cathy (Danny) Hopper of Dresden, and Gail (T.J.) McKinney of Gleason; a sister, Christine Wiggins of McKenzie; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
 

Teresa Lynn Morris

     Teresa Lynn Morris, 22, of Martin, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Miss Morris will be held today, Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Houston Patrick will officiate the services.
     Miss Morris was born July 10, 1984 in Martin. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clarence and Lattice Morris; and her maternal grandfather, Ben Black.
     Survivors include her mother, Carol Black of Martin; her father, Clarence T. (Tuffy) Morris of Martin; a brother, Matthew Morris of Myrtle Beach, California; and maternal grandmother, Helen Black of Martin.
 

Virgie Summers

     Virgie Summers, 96, of Gleason, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Hillview Community Living Center in Dresden. Funeral services for Mrs. Summers were held Sunday, June 24, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris. Burial followed in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove. P.J. Scott officiated the services.
     Mrs. Summers was retired after more than 30 years at Kellwood Manufacturing in Greenfield as Quality Control Inspector and was a former writer for the Dresden Enterprise. She was also a member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church and the W.M.U. She married Ulyss Summers on January 28, 1930 and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1968. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Summers was also preceded in death by her parents, Coatney Franklin Powers and Mary Magdaline Bevil Powers; four sisters, Edna Farmer, Ronalda Summers, Gladys Todd, and Evelyn Leach; and a brother, Charles Powers.
     Mrs. Summers is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Vowell of Gleason; two grandchildren, David Vowell of Dresden, and James Randell Vowell of McKenzie; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
 

Willie Mae (Crews) Parker

     Willie Mae (Crews) Parker, 93, formerly of Weakley County, passed away June 15, 2007, in Bradenton, Florida.
     Daughter of the late Otis and Judy (Givens) Crews of the Wesley Chapel community, Mrs. Parker attended school at Wesley Chapel and graduated from Palmersville High School in 1932. In 1937, she married James G. Parker, also of the Wesley Chapel community. They were married 66 years until James' death in 2003. After living in Detroit during the war, the Parkers returned to Palmersville, where they owned and operated Parker's General Store from 1946 to 1954. They returned to Michigan, where Mae worked as a homemaker and sales clerk at Montgomery Ward. The couple spent their retirement years in Marco Island and Jacksonville, Florida.
     Survivors include a brother, L.C. Crews and wife, Mae, of Dresden; son, James Ned Parker and wife, Carolyn, of Englewood, Florida; a daughter, Jeri Anne Kelch and husband, Dr. Robert Kelch, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; grandson, Randy Kelch and wife, Kelley, of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter, Julie Balis and husband, David, of Manhattan, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Erin and Rhys Kelch, Sophia and Grant Balis; and several nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Crews; and a sister, Sue Malone, both of Weakley County.
