Brenda Daniels

     Brenda Daniels, 67, of Sharon, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at St. Thomas Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Daniels were held Friday, July 20, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Liberty Apostolic Cemetery in Greenfield. Gary Gallimore officiated the services.
    Mrs. Daniels was a former supervisor for WSW of Sharon. She was born June 7, 1940 in Dresden.
     Mrs. Daniels is survived by her husband, Robert Daniels of Sharon; a son, Jeff Daniels of Greenfield; and a sister, Kay Bailey of Mobile, Alabama.
 

David Ernest Quarrels

     David Ernest Quarrels, 59, of Gleason, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Quarrels were held Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Faith Church. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason. Steve Gearin officiated the services.
     Mr. Quarrels worked for Ford Motor Co. and attended the Apostolic Faith Church in Bradford. He was born August 4, 1947 in Weakley County to the late Harrison B. Quarrels and Hazel Bell Hayes.
     Mr. Quarrels is survived by his wife, Linda Adams Quarrels of Gleason; three sisters, Judy Seagle of Knoxville, Tennessee, Betty Bristol of Seymour, Tennessee, and Shirley Hogue of Seymour, Tennessee; and four brothers, Ed Quarrels of Sumpter, Michigan, Jerry Quarrels of Seymour, Tennessee, Roy (Red) Quarrels of Jacksonville, Florida, and Harold Quarrels of Knoxville, Tennessee.
 

Frances Irene Dowland Gaylord

     Frances Irene Dowland Gaylord, 76, of the Hyndsver Community in Martin, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Gaylord were held Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in Tansil Cemetery in Sharon. Rev. Terry Griffin officiated the services.
     Mrs. Gaylord had worked in food service at the University of Tennessee at Martin and was retired from Hubbell Lighting. She was a member of Bible Union Baptist Church. Mrs. Gaylord was born August 15, 1930 in Gibson County to the late Finis Dowland and Mozelle Gable Dowland. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gaylord was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wilson Gaylord; and a brother, Danny Dowland.
     Mrs. Gaylord is survived by three sons, Terry (Judy) Gaylord of Dresden, Jimmy (Renee) Gaylord of South Fulton, and Keith Gaylord of Martin; a sister, Jean Owens of Mason Hall, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Timothy Davis, Terry Gaylord, Jr., Kayla Richardson, and Hunter Galloway; and one great-grandchild, Aidan Gaylord.
 

Gail Sharpe

     Gail Sharpe, 67, of Sharon, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Martin Health Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Sharpe were held Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon. Burial followed in Tansil Cemetery. Rev. Billy Cobb officiated the services.
     Mrs. Sharpe was a homemaker. She was born November 3, 1939 in Fulton, Kentucky.
     Mrs. Sharpe is survived by her husband, Herod Ray Sharpe of Sharon; a daughter, Cheryl (Dale) Akin of Bradford; four sons, Mark (Linda) Pruiett of Mayfield, Kentucky, Shane Pruiett of Eddyville, Kentucky, Chad (Angie) Sharpe of Sidonia, and Drew (Lori) Sharpe of Bradford; a sister, Norma Smith of Fulton, Kentucky; sixteen grandchildren, Stacy Montgomery, Kelly Knott, Jason Akin, Brandi Sharpe, Trevor Sharpe, Taylor Hill, Richard Coday, Katie Deaton, Mace Fitzgerald, Ashley Pruiett-Smith, Kelly Pruiett, Zachary Pruiett, Chance Barnes, Oliva Robertson, Matt Wright, and Payton Sharpe; and four great-grandchildren.
 

Harold L. McMillin

     Harold L. McMillin, 86, of Martin, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at his home. Graveside services for Mr. McMillin were held Monday, July 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Roger Lipe officiated the services.
     Mr. McMillin was the former owner and operator of Discount Furniture Co. from 1963 to 2003. He was also a member of Central Baptist Church. Mr. McMillin was born July 1, 1921 in Weakley County to the late Roy McMillin and Unie Mae Spicer McMillin. In addition to his parents, Mr. McMillin was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita McKee McMillin; and three brothers, Buddy McMillin, Tom McMillin, and Donel Lee McMillin.
     Mr. McMillin is survived by two sons, Roy Lynn McMillin of Martin, and Harold Gene McMillin of Gleason; a daughter, Pat Barner of Martin; four brothers, Charles (Dickie) McMillin of Martin, J.D. McMillin of Martin, J.C. McMillin of Martin, and Billy Gene McMillin of South Fulton; three grandchildren, Tiffany Barner Winston, Toby Lynn McMillin, and Margaret Stogsdill; and seven great-grandchildren.
 

Jerry F. Cooper

     Jerry F. Cooper, 64, of Gleason, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Regional Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services for Mr. Cooper were held Monday, July 23, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Suratt Cemetery near Dresden. Tracy McDaniel officiated the services.
     Mr. Cooper was a truck driver for Williams Farms in Ashton, South Carolina. He was born in Hayti, Missouri to Virgil and Lora McDow Cooper. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Cooper.
     Mr. Cooper is survived by two daughters, Lora Cooper of Gleason, and Jessica Cooper of Martin; two sons, Mark Cooper of Gleason, and David Cooper of Winterhaven, Florida; a sister, Delilah Noblett of Bowling Green, Florida; and four grandchildren.
 

Loretta P. Hamel

     Loretta P. Hamel, 72, of Greenfield, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Graveside services for Mrs. Hamel were held Monday, July 16, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the House of God in Greenfield.
     Mrs. Hamel was a housewife. She was born May 17, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
     Mrs. Hamel is survived by her husband, Charles Hamel of Greenfield; two sons, B.J. Jones of Long Beach, California, and Danial Jones of Fontana, California; and five daughters, Pam Abair of Greenfield, Elise Jones of Greenfield, Paula Anderson of Bakerville, California, Sheryl Hollikan of Butte, Nevada, and Chawntea Hamel of Greenfield.
 

Nell Smith Carmichael

     Nell Smith Carmichael, 82, of the Ralston Community in Martin, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Carmichael were held Sunday, July 22, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Bible Union Baptist Church. Burial followed in Martin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Terry Griffin and Rev. Dwayne Ervin officiated the services.
     Mrs. Carmichael was a homemaker and a member of Bible Union Baptist Church. She was active in her church activities, as well as Republican Party activities. Mrs. Carmichael served as a host family for the U.T.M. International Program. She was born October 27, 1924 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the late William Smith and Sarah Moody Barnett Smith.
     Mrs. Carmichael is survived by her husband, Mr. Odis Carmichael of Martin; two sons, Jimmy (Karen) Carmichael of Martin, and Mark Carmichael of Martin; a daughter, Barbara (Bennie) Castleman of Martin; a brother, Bill Smith of Memphis; two sisters, Virginia Fuchs of Jacksonville, Florida, and Rob Reid Brown of Memphis; five grandchildren, Claire (Jay) Oliver, Kelly (Tim) Smith, Bryan Castleman, Jamie (Jeremy) Harris, and Ben Carmichael; and four great-grandchildren, Maggie Oliver, Mollie Oliver, Mary Kate Smith, London Carmichael.
 

Paul Dennis Evans

     Paul Dennis Evans, 53, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Evans were held Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Bible Union Cemetery. Bro. Eugene Blankenship officiated the services.
     Mr. Evans was a member of McKenzie Baptist Church. He was born July 14, 1954 in Tiptonville to the late Carl Robert and Clair Lorene (Cunningham) Evans.
     Mr. Evans is survived by three brothers, Carl Evans of Dresden, James Ray Evans of Dyer, and Dallas Humphreys of Tiptonville; and three sisters, Betty Stout of Ripley, Wanda Gail Stafford of Tiptonville, and Vicki Darlene Evans of Paris.
 

Paul Frank Mitchell

     Paul Frank Mitchell, 79, of Greenfield, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell were held Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial followed in Brock's Cemetery in Greenfield. Phil Mitchell and Richard Denton officiated the services.
     Mr. Mitchell was a truck driver for Argo Collier/Akin & Porter for 61 years. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. Mr. Mitchell attended Beech Springs Baptist Church. He was born July 3, 1928 in Greenfield to the late Thad Mitchell and Effie Walker.
     Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Adams) Mitchell of Greenfield; a son, Tony Mitchell of Greenfield; a daughter, Patricia (Mitchell) Johnson of Greenfield; a sister, Marie Taylor of Bradford; two brothers, Harold Mitchell of Greenfield, and Ray Mitchell of Greenfield; and three grandchildren.
 

Troy Stewart

     Troy Stewart, 39, of Dresden, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Bethlehem Baptist Church near Greenfield, with Rev. Roy Auvenshine officiating. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
     Mr. Stewart was born December 14, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, son of Barney Stewart of Coal City, Illinois, and Recina (Reynolds) Purdum of Sharon. He married the former Barbara Enderle on October 26, 1992. She survives. He had been employed as a security guard for Northern Trust Bank in Chicago and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
     Mr. Stewart is also survived by three sons, Kevin Purdum, Thomas Stewart, and Anthony Stewart, all of Dresden.
