Billy Frazier Ward
Billy Frazier Ward, 71, of Dresden, died Monday,
January 22, 2007, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Ward
were held Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Southside Church of
Christ in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in
Dresden. Bro. E. Claude Gardner and Bro. Tom Childers
officiated the services.
Mr. Ward was a truck driver for General Motors -
Oldsmobile and was a member of Southside Church of Christ in
Dresden. He was a native of Dresden and the son of the late
Gordon Peery and Elsie V. Olds Ward.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marilyn Travis
Ward of Dresden; a son, Mark (Wendy) Ward of Falls Church,
Virginia; a sister, Jackie W. (Rickie) Duncan of Dresden; a
brother, John A. (Connie) Ward of Cordova, Tennessee; and
three grandchildren, James Gordon Ward of Norfolk, Virginia,
William Travis and Nathan F. Ward of Falls Church, Virginia.
Justin Mead "Bar-twig" Bartig
Justin Mead "Bar-twig" Bartig, 26, died at his home in
Clark Lake, Michigan, Saturday, November 25, 2006. He is
survived by his wife, Jennifer D.; mother and stepfather,
Becky and Tracy Vicary of Martin; father, Tim Bartig of
Jackson, Michigan; brother, Terry Whiting of Martin;
stepbrother and sister, Travis and Amanda Vicary of
Brentwood; mother and father-in-law, Bob and Kris Ragain of
Clark Lake, Michigan; grandparents, Bob and Vi Miner of
Crestview, Florida, Roland and Florine Bartig of Napoleon,
Michigan; step-grandparents, Walter and Marie Vicary of
Martin; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Justin attended Westview High School. He played some
football and was active in FFA attending the National
Convention in the fall of 1997. He had been married to Jenny
for four years and was an employee of ConAgra-Armour-Eckrich
Meats in Quincy, Michigan, as a cook house supervisor.
Per his request, Justin was cremated. There will be a
graveside service in his honor on Saturday, February 3, 2007
at 10:00 a.m. at Eastside Cemetery in Martin with Bro. Larry
Powers officiating. Anyone wishing to attend are invited to
join the family at that time.
Martha Hornbeak
Martha Hornbeak, 92, of Greenfield, died Wednesday,
January 24, 2007, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hornbeak were held Friday, January
26, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in
Greenfield. Burial followed in Hornbeak Cemetery in
Greenfield. Dr. Roy Whaley officiated the services.
Mrs. Hornbeak was a homemaker and attended First
Presbyterian Church in Greenfield. She was born May 8, 1914
in Rutherford to the late Claud Johnston and Willie Lett. In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Hornbeak was also preceded in
death by her husband, Roy Hornbeak.
Mrs. Hornbeak is survived by a son, Ted Hornbeak of
Dresden; daughter-in-law, Patsy Hornbeak; two grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.
Russell Woodrow Baker
Russell Woodrow Baker, 94, of Greenfield, died Tuesday,
January 9, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Funeral services for Mr. Baker were held Thursday, January
11, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in
Greenfield. Burial followed in Hornbeak Cemetery in
Greenfield. Wayne Perkins and David Worley officiated the
services.
Mr. Baker was a farmer and a butcher and attended
Bethel Baptist Church. He was born November 5, 1912 in
Greenfield to the late Will Baker and Buena Tucker.
Mr. Baker is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline (Baker)
Rachels of Greenfield; two grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Walter Lee Gatewood
Walter Lee Gatewood, 56, of Fulton, Kentucky, formerly
of Dresden, died Saturday, January 20, 2007, at Western
Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Funeral services for
Mr. Gatewood were held Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 1:00
p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial
followed in Wingo Cemetery in Wingo, Kentucky. Bro. Ron Cox
and Dr. Don McCulley officiated the services.
Mr. Gatewood worked for Turner Dairy in Paducah and was
a member of South Fulton Baptist Church. He was born May 26,
1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Doyle M. Gatewood and the late
Mildred Thompson Gatewood.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Connie Guill Gatewood
of Fulton; a stepson, Mike (Cindi) Ray of Benton, Kentucky;
his father, Doyle M. Gatewood of Dresden; a sister, Shirley
Ann Kelley of Paris; and two grandchildren.
