Elizabeth (Betty Jo) Joan Baucom
Elizabeth (Betty Jo) Joan Baucom, 86, of South Fulton, died
Monday, July 30, 2007, at Golden Living Health Care in Union
City. Graveside services for Miss Baucom were held
Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove
Cemetery in South Fulton. Mr. Tom Frey officiated the
services.
Miss Baucom was born July 15, 1921 in South Fulton to the
late Will Baucom and Emma Frey Baucom.
Emily Jane Driver
Emily Jane Driver, 80, of Martin, died Monday, August 6,
2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Memorial
graveside services will be held in Eastlawn Cemetery in
Sturgis, Michigan at a later date.
Mrs. Driver was a homemaker and a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Sturgis, Michigan. She was born April 9,
1927 in Vicksburg, Michigan to the late Charles Glen Porter
and Marjorie Kuhn Porter. In addition to her parents, Mrs.
Driver was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee
Driver; and a son, Robert Michael Driver.
Mrs. Driver is survived by a daughter, Candace Goad of
Martin; a sister, Elizabeth Coburn of Maumee, Ohio; and two
grandchildren, Robert Michael Goad and Russell Andrew Goad.
James H. Sallee
James H. Sallee, 81, of Martin, died Monday, July 30, 2007,
at Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Funeral
services for Mr. Sallee were held Friday, August 3, 2007, at
11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed
in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Andy Blackwell
officiated the services.
Mr. Sallee was retired from the Tennessee National Guard and
a veteran of the United States Army. He was born September
23, 1925 in Kingland, Arkansas to the late Russell Allen
Sallee, Sr. and Anna Lee Johnson Sallee. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Sallee was also preceded in death by three
brothers, Russell A. Sallee, Jr., William L. (Bub) Sallee,
and Charles A. (Jack) Sallee.
Mr. Sallee is survived by three sons, David Sallee of Martin,
Tim Sallee of Covington, and Keith Sallee of Martin; a
sister, Dean Hawks of Millington; six grandchildren,
Kristopher Sallee, Mandy Hughey, Randi Carter, Matt Sallee,
Brittney Sallee, and Kory Sallee; and two
great-grandchildren.
John Russell Walling
John Russell Walling, 84, of Union City, died Thursday,
August 2, 2007, at Union City Manor Nursing and Rehab
Center. Funeral services for Mr. Walling were held Monday,
August 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at White-Ransom Funeral Home
in Union City. Burial followed in East View Cemetery. Rev.
Jerry Leggett officiated the services.
Mr. Walling was a former pharmacist for Obion County General
Hospital and a retired pharmaceutical salesman for Parke
Davis & Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church and Hardee's Coffee Club. Mr. Walling had served with
the United States Army Air Corp. He was born April 19, 1923
in Springfield, Tennessee to the late John A. Walling and
Lela (Browning) Walling. In addition to his parents, Mr.
Walling was also preceded in death by a brother, William R.
Walling.
Mr. Walling is survived by his wife, Lattie Bellew Walling;
two daughters, Donna (Gary) Fields of Dresden, and Vickie
Walling of Alexandria, Virginia; a son, William R. "Bill"
Walling of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Shirley Browning of
Clarksville; and one grandchild, Jarrod Williams of Memphis.
Lexie D. Simmons
Lexie D. Simmons, 99, of Dresden, died Thursday, August 23,
2007, at Bastrop Nursing Center in Bastrop, Texas. Funeral
services for Mrs. Simmons were held Saturday, August 4,
2007, at 4:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden.
Burial followed in Olive Branch Cemetery near Como. Bro.
Michael Simmons officiated the services.
Mrs. Simmons was a business manager. She was a member of
Woodcliff Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, and a former
member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Simmons was a
native of Dresden and the daughter of the late Tom L. and
Annie Raffety Highfill. In addition to her parents, Mrs.
Simmons was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr.
Carlos H. "Mutt" Simmons; a daughter, Mayanne Richardson;
and a brother, Aaron Highfill.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by a son-in-law, Charles Richardson
of Round Rock, Texas; three grandchildren, Julia Swope of
Round Rock, Texas, Jane Carpenter of Leander, Texas, and
Rich Richardson of Midland, Michigan; six
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret Sander
Margaret Sander, 92, of Martin, died Thursday, August 2,
2007, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Home in Martin. Funeral
services for Miss Sander were held Saturday, August 4, 2007,
at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial
followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Bill Tate and
Rev. David Russell officiated the services.
Miss Sander was retired from the transportation office at
Milan Arsenal and was a member of the First United Methodist
Church. She was born June 30, 1915 in Battle Creek, Michigan
to the late Albert J. Sander and Jennie Foote Sander. In
addition to her parents, Miss Sander was also preceded in
death by a sister, Mary Rehse.
Miss Sander is survived by her caregivers, Cathy Cate and
Richard Shadden.
Mary Elizabeth Bradberry
Mary Elizabeth Bradberry, 93, of Dresden, died Saturday,
August 4, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bradberry were held Monday, August
6, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in
Dresden. Burial followed in Bradberry Cemetery in Dresden.
Bro. Nathan Horton officiated the services.
Mrs. Bradberry was a retired seamstress for Martin
Manufacturing after 27 years of service. She had been a
member of Siloam General Baptist Church near Dresden since
1926. Mrs. Bradberry was a native of Weakley County and the
daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Lura May Scott
Bradberry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bradberry was
also preceded in death by her husbands, Mr. Ellis Reed and
Mr. Henry Lee Bradberry; three sisters, Odell Darnell, Olga
Lee Radford, and Murline Thompson; and two brothers, Raymond
Bradberry and Clarence Bradberry, Jr.
Mrs. Bradberry is survived by a son, Johnny Wayne Darnell of
Springville, Tennessee; one grandchild, William Wesley
(Sunshine) Darnell of Dresden; one great-grandchild, Dylan
Kurt Darnell of Dresden; niece, Bonnie Ramos of Dresden; and
a host of nieces and nephews.
Robert Morris (Bobby) Oliver
Robert Morris (Bobby) Oliver, 78, of Martin, died Monday,
July 30, 2007, at Humboldt General Hospital. Graveside
services for Mr. Oliver were held Wednesday, August 1, 2007,
at 3:00 p.m., at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Don
Bullock officiated the services.
Mr. Oliver was retired from Martin Manufacturing Company and
was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. He
was born September 28, 1928 in Martin to the late Jesse N.
Oliver and Corrine Manley Oliver. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Oliver was also preceded in death by his wife,
Estelle Jones Oliver; a brother, Jesse Oliver, Jr.; and
three sisters, Cyril Bearden, Dorris Mooring, and Barbara
Long.
Mr. Oliver is survived by a stepson, Eugene King of North
Carolina; and two sisters, June Thompson of Martin, and Jean
Vincent of Martin.
