Carlos Lee "Jackie" Carson
Carlos Lee "Jackie" Carson, 85, of Salisbury, died Thursday,
August 23, 2007, at Salisbury Gardens.
Born May 16, 1922 in Weakley County, she was the daughter of
the late Ted and Hattie High Lee. She was educated in the
Sharon schools and retired in 1987 from Rowan Regional
Medical Center. Prior to that, she was employed for Cannon
Mills. Mrs. Carson was an active member of Coburn Memorial
United Methodist Church.
She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Joe Lindy Carson;
two children, Harold Thomas Reynolds and wife Cynthia, and
Sylvia Reynolds; grandchildren, Ricky Howard Carlton and
wife Theresa, Randy Howard Carlton, Melissa Reynolds Calvert
and husband Brian, Thomas Jason Reynolds, and Bryan Joshua
Reynolds, and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carson was returned to her previous home in Greenfield
to be buried beside her first husband and father of her
children, Homer Reynolds, who preceded her in death in
October of 1965. She was moved to Williams Funeral Home in
Greenfield for visitation and then a graveside service at
3:00 p.m. on Monday at Highland Cemetery.
Charles Glenn Snoddy, Sr.
Charles Glenn Snoddy, Sr., 52, of Hoover, Alabama, the
son-in-law of Mary Davis Guill of Dresden, died Monday,
August 13, 2007. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday,
August 17, at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in
Vestavia Hills, Alabama, where he was a communicant, with
the Rev. Stephen Hood officiating. Burial was at 2:00 p.m.,
Saturday, August 18, in Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro,
Tennessee, with the Rev. James Moore Guill, SSC officiating.
A native of Murfreesboro, he was the son of the late Charles
Franklin Snoddy and Bobbie Jean Parkhurst Snoddy, who
survives. He attended MTSU Campus School, Central High
School in Murfreesboro and graduated from Franklin County
High School in Frankfort, Kentucky. He was the owner of Full
Slate Weed Control, and active in the Hoover community youth
sports programs, Boy Scouts of America and his church.
In addition to his mother and mother-in-law, he is survived
by his wife of 21 years, Sally Hart Guill Snoddy; two sons,
Charles Glenn Snoddy, Jr., and William Hart Snoddy; a
brother, Andrew Franklin Snoddy, all of Hoover; and a
sister, Julie Jean Broadway of Atoka, Tennessee.
David Alan Dilday, Sr.
David Alan Dilday, Sr., of Dresden, died Tuesday, August 21,
2007, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Dilday were held
Friday, August 24, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Caledonia Cemetery in
McKenzie. Bro. Terry Griffin and Bro. Randy Miller
officiated the services.
Mr. Dilday was a truck driver and a member of Bible Union
Baptist Church near Dresden. He was born in Martin.
Mr. Dilday is survived by a daughter, Amber Rae Dilday of
South Fulton; a son, D.J. Dilday of Dresden; his parents,
Gilbert Dilday of Dresden, and Martha (Raymond) Merrell of
Dresden; and a brother, Randall Eugene Dilday of Hampton,
Virginia.
Glenna Mae Simmons
Glenna Mae Simmons, 78, of Mary Esther, Florida, formerly of
Dresden, died Friday, August 17, 2007, at the Parthenon
Healthcare Facility in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. Funeral
services for Mrs. Simmons were held Friday, August 24, 2007,
at 10:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden.
Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Dan
Leslie officiated the services.
Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was
also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Simmons was born in
Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to the late William and Martha
Newell Ergle.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, Mr. Joe Wilson
Simmons of Mary Esther, Florida; a daughter, Candy (Derrill)
Talley of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; a son, William Martin of
Mary Esther, Florida; a sister, Sue Weathers of Chattanooga,
Tennessee; a brother, H.E. (Vera) Ergle of Orange Park,
Florida; and three grandchildren, Tiffany (Jimerson) Lacy,
Dustin (Angie) Talley, and Beverly Talley, all of Fort
Oglethorpe, Georgia.
John Elliot Tims
John Elliot Tims, 60, of Palmersville, died Monday, August
20, 2007, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Tims were held Wednesday, August
22, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in
Dresden. Burial followed in Morgan Cemetery in Palmersville.
Bro. Kieth Dublin officiated the services.
Mr. Tims was a factory worker and a Baptist by faith. He was
born in Hardeman County to Mrs. Annie Geneva Vincent Tims of
Palmersville and the late Robert Austin Tims.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Tims is also survived by a
daughter, Lisa Tyson of Florida; three sisters, Marilyn
Jewell Dempsy of Mayfield, Kentucky, Laurie Bethel of
Dukedom, and Emily Ruth Matz of Dresden; three brothers,
Ralph Tims of Palmersville, Stanley Tims of Cottage Grove,
and Paul Tims; and three grandchildren.
Ruby Elizabeth Nelson
Ruby Elizabeth Nelson, 93, of Sharon, died Tuesday, August
21, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Ms. Nelson were held Friday, August 24, 2007,
at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon.
Burial followed in Tansil Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Harrison
officiated the services.
Ms. Nelson was a homemaker. She was born September 6, 1913 in
Weakley County.
Ms. Nelson is survived by a son, Gene (Donna) Crutchfield of
Hemet, California; a daughter, Carol (Joe) Rodriguez of
Ontario, Canada; seventeen grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren.
