Arrests made in connection with Sonic burglary |
The Martin Police Department reports that three individuals
have been arrested, thus far, in connection with the
burglary of Sonic Drive-In over the weekend.
According to a report filed by Officer Deana Brooks, at
approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 22, officers were
dispatched to Sonic Drive-In at 413 North Lindell Street
after an alarm had reportedly been set off at that location.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers found no audible
alarm activated, but upon checking the back door, the
audible alarm was activated after less than one-minute
response time to receiving the call. Officers did not find
any signs of forced entry and had to make contact with
management to make sure that a burglary had occurred.
Everything appeared to be in workable condition with the
cash drawer being open. However, upon speaking with the
restaurant’s manager, it was determined that there should
have been at least $450.27 in the drawer. The investigation
revealed that $362.50 was missing from the cash drawer, with
$87 being left in the money-changer.
At this stage of the investigation, Inv. Thomas D. Erin and
Martin Police Chief David Moore were notified.
The manager stated that Jeremy Cotton had closed the
restaurant that evening and Cotton was contacted at 3:45
a.m.
Management also told police that an employee by the name of
Chris W. Leyhue, of 11741 Hwy. 22, Martin, who had not been
to work all week, had been told that it was a possibility he
would be terminated. Additionally, contact was made with
Crystal Huggins, girlfriend of Chris Leyhue.
