The Greenfield All-Stars claimed the only win for Weakley County teams last Tuesday in the Cal Ripken 12-and-under Southeast Regional Tournament at the Martin Parks and Recreation Complex, taking a 5-4 win over Virginia on an RBI single by Tony Robinson followed by an error by the Virginia left fielder gave Greenfield the win.

In championship action on Wednesday, Alabama topped Virginia (Winchester) 7-3 to take the tournament title.

Virginia (Glenn Allen) 4

The single by Robinson and error to end the game capped off a four-run inning by the Greenfield All-Stars, erasing a three-run deficit.

Five consecutive walks to open the inning cut the Virginia lead to 4-3 with no outs. Robinson’s bases loaded single then allowed Matthew Fuller to score before the Tyler Jones scored on the aforementioned error.

Greenfield had taken the early lead, as Heath Crouse hit his third homerun of the tournament to give the Greenfield All-Stars a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Virginia answered right back in the top of the following inning as a rundown between first and second allowed Brooks Snead to cross the plate and tie the game.

One inning later, Michael Boyle gave the Virginia team the lead as he doubled then scored on an error to make the score 2-1.
