By Jason Peevyhouse
Sports Editor

The Dresden Lions were able to score in each of the first four innings on Monday afternoon before piling on eight runs in the bottom of the six to take a 12-1 win over Greenfield at Dresden.
Dresden got on the board first in the bottom half of the opening frame. After singling and stealing second, Adam Turbeville advanced to third on a groundout. The Lion backstop then scored on a passed ball to make the score 1-0 after one inning.
The Lions added to their lead in the bottom of the second inning as a single from Adam Clements led to an RBI single from Randy Williams to push the Dresden advantage to 2-0 after two innings.
The Yellowjackets got on the board in the top of the third inning as an RBI singles from Aaron Davidson cut the Dresden lead in half at 2-1.
However, the Lions got that run back in the bottom of the inning as a Levister groundout scored Turbeville, who led off the inning with a single, to make the score 3-1 after three innings.
Dresden got another run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Drew Vernon doubled to score Williams to put the Dresden lead up to 4-1 after four innings.

By Jason Peevyhouse
Sports Editor

The Gleason Lady Bulldog softball team collected a pair of wins on Tuesday before taking the remainder of spring break off, getting 9-1 and 12-6 victories at Gleason.

Gleason Lady Bulldogs 9
Bradford Lady Red Devils 1

After getting off to a relatively slow start through the first three innings, the Lady Dawgs pounded out six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to secure the eight-run win.
Gleason got on the board early as Taylor Stout reached on an error then scored on an Ashley Camp groundout to make the score 1-0 after one inning.
After being held scoreless in the second frame, Stout again reached base for the Lady Bulldogs, this time on a double. Camp again drove in her teammate, reaching on an error herself. The next batter, Riley Auvenshine, also reached on an error and was singled in by Molly Clemens to make the score 3-0 at the end of three innings.
After allowing an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning, the Gleason offense erupted in the bottom half of the inning. A walk to Lacie Trevathan and a single from Stout led to a two-run double from Camp to extend the Lady Bulldog lead to 5-1. Two batters later, Katlin Gaylord singled in Camp and Auvenshine (who reached on a walk) to push the Gleason lead to six runs. Gaylord later scored on a walk and Clemens added another RBI single to make the score 9-1 in favor of Gleason.
The Lady Dawgs then retired the three Bradford batters in order to seal the win.

By Rory Higgins
Sports Writer

The Greenfield Yellowjackets paid the Union City Golden Tornadoes a visit last Tuesday afternoon, but the 'Jackets left with an 11-1 loss to the UCHS players.
Despite the first batter getting struck out, Aaron Davidson and Jakob Perkins hit singles to make it onto base, but another strikeout following a previous tag out by Union City's second baseman, Tyler Sherwood, ended the top of the first inning with no score on the
Yellowjacket scoreboard.
Meanwhile, in the bottom of the half, Union City got off to a strong start after loading the bases and Kyle Hitt knocking a homerun out of the park. Union City was up by five at the end of the first inning.
Greenfield went three up and three down in the next inning, while the Tornadoes made it across the homeplate a few more times before a change of positions resulted in a third out care of a ground out from Colin Medling at shortstop to Eric Davidson at first base.
