Buddie Leon Prince
Buddie Leon Prince, died Friday, October 27, 2006.
Mr. Prince was born on September 28, 1934 in Weakley
County to the late Nettie and Harvey O. Prince of Dukedom.
He proudly served our country in the United States Navy,
worked for the Greyhound Bus Lines and was an Independent
Truck Driver.
He is survived by his sister, Hycinth Smith of
Tennessee; a daughter, Pam Taylor of Florida; sons, Larry
and Jerry; and six grandchildren.
The family will have a private memorial service in Good
Springs Cemetery in Dresden at a later date.
Dr. Sam L. Rawls
Dr. Sam L. Rawls, 85, of Millington, born in Dresden,
died October 24, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Memphis.
He leaves his wife, Jerry Rawls; two daughters, Jeanne
(Henry) Littleton of Memphis, and Elizabeth (Joe) Rucker of
Bartlett; one son, Dr. Nathan (Caryl) Rawls of Millington; a
daughter-in-law, Tammi Rawls of Bartlett; preceded in death
by one son, Scott Rawls. He also leaves six grandchildren,
Patrick (Tracy) Peters, Heather (Josh) Cree, Trevor (Carrie)
Peters, Matthew (Megan) Rawls, Chelsea Rawls, and Connor
Rawls; five great-grandchildren, Nikki, Anna, and Michelle
Peters, and Nathan and Parker Cree.
Dr. Rawls was a member of First United Methodist
Church, a charter member of the Millington Lions Club, a
U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, and was the owner for 40 years of
Rawls Rexall Drug Store in Millington.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 27, 2006, at
11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with interment
at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery.
Faye Taylor Spikes
Faye Taylor Spikes, 78, of Martin, died Monday, October
30, 2006, at Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Spikes will be held Thursday,
November 2, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist
Church. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Rev. Larry Kendrick will officiate the services.
Mrs. Spikes was retired from the City of Martin -
Administration. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church and a graduate of Dresden High School. Mrs.
Spikes was born June 22, 1928 in Gleason to the late Clifton
Payne Taylor and Libby Roxie Rogers Taylor.
Mrs. Spikes is survived by her husband, Harold T.
(Hank) Spikes of Martin; a son, David Spikes (Wanda) of
Crownsville, Maryland; two daughters, Pam Baird of Waverly,
Tennessee, and Judy Stevens of Camden; a sister, Bertha Lois
Tilley of McKenzie; three grandchildren, Doug Baird
(Christi) of Nashville, Kurt Steele (Sacha) of Newport,
Tennessee, and Jason Steele of Marion, Arkansas; and one
great-grandchild, Gracie Baird of Nashville.
Georgia Juanita Davis
Georgia Juanita Davis, 87, of Jackson, died Friday,
October 27, 2006, at Madison County General Hospital in
Jackson. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis were held Monday,
October 30, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in
Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Rev. Charles Wilson and Rev. Terry Griffin officiated the
services.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a lookout for the
Department of Conservation Division of Forestry. She was a
member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson. Mrs. Davis was
born February 6, 1919 in McNairy County to the late George
Henry Howell and Daisy Russom Howell. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her
husband, Bill Davis; two brothers, Kenneth Howell and James
Howell; and a sister, Elizabeth Lee.
Mrs. Davis is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Sandy)
Wood (Eddie) of Jackson; and three grandchildren, Patrick
William Wood of Tempe, Arizona, Brian Henry Wood (Jennifer)
of Rolla, Missouri, and Roger Andrew Wood of Martin.
James Roy Beasley
James Roy Beasley, 82, of Gleason, died Friday, October
27, 2006, at McKenzie Healthcare. Funeral services for Mr.
Beasley were held Sunday, October 29, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at
Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in
New Valley Cemetery. Rev. Mike Jeffers officiated the
services.
Mr. Beasley was a retired welder and a member of New
Valley Methodist Church. He was born April 28, 1924 in
Henry, to the late James Roscoe and Mattie Idella Mitchell
Beasley.
Mr. Beasley is survived by his wife, Selva Louise Owen
Beasley; and a brother, Robert Beasley of Gleason.
Reace Barnes
Infant Reace Jacob Barnes, of Erin, Tennessee, died
Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at New Beginnings Family
Birth Center at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville,
Tennessee. A graveside service was held October 14 with the
Rev. Ernie Arnold officiating. Burial was in Gray-Barnes
Cemetery. Nave Funeral Home in Erin was in charge of the
arrangements.
He was born September 27, 2006, in Clarksville, the son
of Ashley Nagel and Tom Barnes of Erin, Tennessee.
Survivors include his twin sister, Oliveah Grace Barnes
of Erin; and his grandparents, Tom Nagel of Union City,
Cindy Parkhill of Martin, and Glenda Summers of Erin.
Sarah A. Cornell Koch
Sarah A. Cornell Koch, 73, of Grantville, Pennsylvania,
died Monday, September 11, 2006, at Community General
Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the
wife of Thomas J. Koch, who died in 1991.
Born in Martin, on January 13, 1933, she was the daughter of
the late Harry and Alice Vaughn Cornell of Sharon. She was a
retired supervisor for the State of Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her cousins, Jerry Vaughn and
brothers of Troy, William C. (Wanda) Powell of Dresden, and
James Howard Powell (Margaret) of Springville, and her aunt,
Mrs. James Richard (Lona) Cornell of Dresden. She was
preceded in death by her cousins, Gene Autry and Buddy Autry
of Sharon.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 14, at
the Thompson Funeral Home, Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The Rev.
Millard Fisher, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church,
Grantville, officiated. Interment was at Ebenezer Greenwood
Cemetery.
Wilma Hamlin
Wilma Hamlin, 84, of Sharon, died Tuesday, October 24,
2006, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral
services for Mrs. Hamlin were held Friday, October 27, 2006,
at 11:00 a.m. at Sharon Church of Christ. Burial followed in
New Salem Cemetery. Robert Taylor and Larry Powers
officiated the services.
Mrs. Hamlin worked in accounting and was a member of
the D.A.R. and the Colonial Dames. She was born November 22,
1921 in Martin.
Mrs. Hamlin is survived by her husband, James Hamlin of
Sharon; a daughter, Sandra (Joe) Coffey of Manor, Texas; a
son, Coleman (Wanda) Hamlin of Sharon; a sister, Mary Garner
of Dresden; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
