Joan Willard Rollins
Joan Willard Rollins, 75, of Sharon, died Tuesday,
February 28, 2006, at Jackson Madison County General
Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Mrs. Rollins worked in manufacturing on an assembly
line. She was born September 27, 1930. She was preceded in
death by two brothers, Bennie Boxx and Gaylon Boxx; and two
sisters, Margaret Farmer and Brenda Sellers.
Mrs. Rollins is survived by her husband, Donald Rollins
of Sharon; three sons, Donald A. Rollins of Skokie,
Illinois, Donald K. Rollins of Cicero, Illinois, and Edward
Rollins of Sharon; two daughters, Sheila Rollins of Sidonia,
and Donna Jean Walton of Dyersburg; a brother, Danny Boxx of
Decatur, Alabama; a sister, Carolyn Burnett of Culman,
Alabama; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren
and great-great-grandchildren. John Carlos Jones
John Carlos Jones, 43, of Dresden, died Friday,
February 24, 2006, at Volunteer Community Hospital in
Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Jones were held Tuesday,
February 28, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Jolley Springs
Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Billy Garner officiated the
services.
Mr. Jones was a Baptist by faith. He was born in
McKenzie and preceded in death by his father, James Thomas
Jones.
Mr. Jones is survived by his mother and stepfather,
Mattie Barner Crowell and Ray Crowell of Dresden; a sister,
Tonia Gallimore of Dresden; a brother, Jessie Jones of
Dresden; and a half-brother, James Lutz of Dresden.
Katie L. Argo
Katie L. Argo, 90, of Greenfield, died Saturday, March
4, 2006, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Funeral
services for Mrs. Argo were held Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at
2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial
followed in Meridian Cemetery in Greenfield. Gaylon King and
David Lancaster officiated the services.
Mrs. Argo was a homemaker and attended Meridian
Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Greenfield. She was born
March 20, 1915 in Greenfield to the late Buford Jenkins and
Blanch Carlton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Argo was
also preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Argo.
Mrs. Argo is survived by her niece, Addie Dawson of
Greenfield. Kenneth Mark Watson
Kenneth Mark Watson, 44, of McKenzie, died Saturday,
March 4, 2006, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral
services for Mr. Watson were held Monday, March 6, 2006, at
2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie. Burial
followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie. Bro. Dewayne
Thomas officiated the services.
Mr. Watson was born March 10, 1961 in McKenzie. He was
preceded in death by his father, Wayne Douglas Watson; and a
brother, James Watson.
Mr. Watson is survived by his mother, Ellen Stephens
Watson of McKenzie; three brothers, Tim Watson of
Huntingdon, and Thomas Watson of McKenzie; and three
sisters, Cathey Bright of McKenzie, Pat Watson of McKenzie,
and Pam Skeltis of McKenzie. Leonard Hassell Lackey
Leonard Hassell Lackey, 82, of Martin, died Monday,
March 6, 2006, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Funeral services for Mr. Lackey will be held today,
Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill
Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cates Cemetery in
Martin. Rev. David Freeman will officiate the services.
Mr. Lackey had worked at the Milan Arsenal and was retired
from Ace Hardware in Martin. He was also a member of
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Lackey was born May 31,
1923 in Weakley County to the late Hayes Lackey and Ima High
Lackey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lackey was also
preceded in death by his wife, Viola Ruth Morris Lackey; two
brothers, William Thomas (Jack) Lackey and Alvie Lackey; two
sisters, Montie Blake and Blondell Gardner; and a grandson,
Randall Leonard Lackey.
Mr. Lackey is survived by two sons, Ronnie Lackey of
Martin, and Phillip Lackey of Millington, Tennessee; two
sisters, Aileen Butler of Martin, and Bonnie Mansfield of
Martin; and four grandchildren, April Lackey, Jeremy Lackey,
Keegan Lackey, Brent Lackey. Mary Christine Highfill
Laster
Mary Christine Highfill Laster, 91, of Knoxville,
formerly of Henry County, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006,
at Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville. Graveside services
for Mrs. Laster were held Friday, March 3, 2006, at 1:00
p.m. at McRea Chapel Cemetery in Big Sandy. Dr. Joseph A.
Geary officiated the services.
Mrs. Laster was a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Paris and a former member of the Mullins Methodist
Church in Memphis. She retired from Baptist Memorial
Hospital in Memphis as a child care worker. Mrs. Laster was
born October 22, 1914 in Henry County to the late Oscar
Edward Highfill and Gertrude Louise Cantrell Highfill. In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Laster was also preceded in
death by her husband, Ira Dalton Laster, whom she married
August 22, 1945; and a sister, Sara Maureen Maxwell.
Mrs. Laster is survived by two daughters, Jane Sykes of
Charlottesville, Virginia, and Linda Rosen of Knoxville; a
son, Wayne King of Madisonville, Tennessee; fourteen
grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild. Mary Leonard Jones
Mary Leonard Jones, 92, of Martin, died Tuesday, March
7, 2006, at Cane Creek Rehabilitation Center in Martin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held Thursday, March
9, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Church of Christ. Burial
will follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Bro. Eddie
Hutchens, Bro. Rocco Pierce, and Bro. Michael Moon will
officiate the services.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of Bethel
Church of Christ. She was born February 27, 1914 in Weakley
County to the late Erasmus Leonard and Tula Prince Leonard.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was also preceded in
death by her husband, Vernon Jones; and a brother, Herbert
Leonard.
Mrs. Jones is survived by a son, Gerald Jones of
Martin; a daughter, Delano Moon of Martin; five
grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren. Raybon Eugene "Sonny"
Hunt
Raybon Eugene "Sonny" Hunt, 68, of Lowell, Indiana,
formerly of Gleason, died Monday, February 27, 2006, at the
University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago. Funeral
services for Mr. Hunt were held Saturday, March 4, 2006, at
2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason.
Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason. Rev. Billy
Joe Cobb officiated the services.
Mr. Hunt was the owner of Grinding & Machine Co. and
was a member of the National Guard. He was born August 21,
1937 in Greenfield to the late Samuel and Nona Emerson Hunt.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunt was also preceded in
death by three sisters, Annie Mae Williams, Marie Gearin,
and Betty Harris.
Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Holland
Hunt; two sons, Charles Hunt of Lowell, Indiana, and Kevin
Hunt of Crown Pointe, Indiana; three daughters, Rhonda Foss
of Romeoville, Illinois, Donna Stigall of Martin, and Lisa
Hunt of Elgin, Illinois; a sister, Shirley Ozment of
Greenfield; and six grandchildren. |
