Monroe "Monk" Pleasant

     Monroe "Monk" Pleasant, 85, of Fowlkes, Tennessee, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at his home. Services for Mr. Pleasant were held Sunday, July 30, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery in the Bruceville Community. Rev. Bill Boyers and Bobbie Walden officiated the services.
     Mr. Pleasant was retired from Dyersburg Fabrics where he worked for over 20 years. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Halls. Mr. Pleasant was preceded in death by his father and mother, Herman and Nettie Pleasant; two sisters, Grapel "Bea" Helm and Lucille Parrish; and five brothers, William Pleasant, Phillip Pleasant, John Pleasant, Joe Pleasant and Billy Pleasant.
     Mr. Pleasant is survived by his wife, Helen Pleasant of Fowlkes; three daughters, Margaret Broglin of Halls, Janet Doss of Trimble and Joan Lents of Halls; two sons, Rodger Pleasant of Dyersburg and Larry Pleasant of Unionville; one brother, Pete Pleasant of Friendship; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
     Memorials may be sent to the Community Cancer Fund, 3040 Viar Road, Dyersburg or Alzheimer's Association, Mid South Chapter, West Tennessee Office, 326 Ellsworth Street, Memphis, TN 38111.

Mr. Joseph Charles Hankins, Sr.

     Mr. Joseph Charles Hankins, Sr., 75, of Martin, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at the Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
     Mr. Hankins worked at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in production and inspection. He was born July 28, 1930 to the late Joseph Carl Hankins and Daisy Ethel Humphrey Hankins.
    Mr. Hankins is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Edwards Hankins of Martin; a son, Joseph Charles Hankins, Jr. of Martin; four daughters, Patricia Lee Edwards of Enfield, Illinois, Mary Jo Bynum of Dresden, Cathy Diane Luttrell of Martin and Karen Lynn McSweeney of Jackson, Michigan; a brother, Lewis Carl Hankins of Martin; three sisters, Annie Long of Martin, Lorene Crain of Martin and Laquita Pike of Ft. Mohava, Arizona; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Edna Matheny Brewer

     Mrs. Edna Matheny Brewer, 85, of Martin, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the Life Care Center in LaCenter, Kentucky. Services for Mrs. Brewer were held Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Martin Memorial Gardens. Rev. David Freeman officiated the services.
     Mrs. Brewer was retired from Martin Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was born August 17, 1920 to the late Carol Matheny and Verna Hill Matheny. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her husband, M.M. (Bill) Brewer and a sister, Nannie Mae Kellough.
     Mrs. Brewer is survived by a son, James Brewer of Wickliffe, Kentucky; a brother, James Matheny of Union City and one step-grandchild, John Oliver.

Mrs. Virginia Earl Donoho

     Mrs. Virginia Earl Donoho, 87, of Palmersville, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at her home. Services for Donoho were held Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Bethel Baptist Church north of Palmersville. Burial was in the Old Bethel Cemetery. Bro. Joe Williamson, Bro. Tony Michael and Bro. Bob Copeland officiated the services. Bowlin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
     Mrs. Donoho was a Housewife and a native of Weakley County. She was the daughter of the late Joe E. and Eva Ann Madrey Griffith. Mrs. Donoho was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church. She was instrumental in getting electricity in the 1st District in 1945. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Donoho was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Harvey Clinton Donoho and a brother, Herbert Griffith.
     Mrs. Donoho is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Rickman of Dukedom and Janice (Don) Laws of Fayetteville, Georgia; four sons, Kenneth (Brenda) Donoho of Palmersville, Jerry (Raymona) Donoho of Palmersville, Joseph (Linda Jo) Donoho of Palmersville and Stephen (Beverly) Donoho of Palmersville; fifteen grandchildren, Ronnie Rickman, John Mark Rickman, Jeff Laws, Clint Donoho, Mike Donoho, Jeremy Donoho, Melinda Lamb, Lisa Caldwell, Stacy Rich, Michelle Montgomery, Onda Sheridan, Melissa Stewart, Stephanie Kemp, Lindsey Donoho and Ashley Donoho; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Virginia Lynn Lamm Burton

     Virginia Lynn Lamm Burton, 91, died Thursday, July 27,2006. Services for Mrs. Burton were held Monday, July 31,2006, 10:00a.m. in Dignity Hall at Woodlawn- Roesch-Patton. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon.
     Mrs. Burton earned her B.A. and M.A. from Texas Woman's University, studied in Guatemala, and was an Ensign in the Navy during WWII. She was a member of Granny White Church of Christ since 1946.
     Her husband, James Bondurant Burton, her parents, Walter Edward and Jennie McGee Lamm, a grandson, Daniel Burton Waggoner, a daughter-in-law, Ann Wheeler Burton; and a sister, Mabel Lamm Canfield, preceded her in death.
     Mrs. Burton is survived by two sons, James Wm. (Linda) Burton of Franklin; Walter Lamm (Heidi) Burton of Tipp City Ohio; two daughters. Mary Burton (Dr. Wm. H.,Jr.)Goodwin of Batesville, Arkansas, and Elizabeth (Pat) Waggoner of Nashville; two brothers, Walter E. (Marge) Lamm of Cedar Hill, Texas; James Richard (Dorothy) Lamm of George West, Texas; a sister, Maureen Lamm Davis of Jourdanton, Texas, twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Dennis-Burton Scholarship Fund, FHU Henderson, Tennessee, David Lipscomb University, or charity of choice.

Mr. James Randall Daily

     Mr. James Randall Daily, 52, of Westminster, Maryland, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, in Westminster, Maryland. Graveside services for Mr. Daily were held Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Richard Carlson officiated the services. Bowlin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
     Mr. Daily was a Medical Records Consultant for U.S. Public Health Service. He was born in Memphis to the late Walter Joshua Daily and the late Marjorie Pauline Roberts Morris. Mr. Daily was a member of the Westminster Church of Christ. He was a car enthusiast and an avid UT football fan. Mr. Daily was a Veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1976 to 1982 and was with the reserves until 1986. In addition to his parents, Mr. Daily was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Daily.
     Mr. Daily is survived by his wife Mrs. Victoria Ruth Drysdale Daily of Westminster, Maryland; two sons, William Joshua (Jessica) Daily of Resisterstown, Maryland and Jeff Randall Daily of Westminster, Maryland; a sister, Margie Williams of Forrest City, Arkansas; a half sister, Elizabeth Jones; and three brothers, Jerry Daily of Benton, Kenny Daily of Atwood and Tommy Daily of Aurora, Colorado.

Mrs. Dorothy McGowan Brewer

     Mrs. Dorothy McGowan Brewer, 72, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Services for Mrs. Brewer were held Monday, July 24, 2006 at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Burial was in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Guy Wilkerson officiated the services
     Mrs. Brewer was born April 16, 1934 in Sharon, Tennessee to the late James Willie and Delia Bassent McGowan. She was a secretary for Teletype Corporation and SeeBurg Corporation, Retired from Housing Office, University of Tennessee Martin. She was a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church.
     She is survived by her husband, Harold T. Brewer of Martin; two sons, Larry Thomas Brewer of Madison, Mississippi and Alan Wayne of Martin; a brother Jerry McGowan of Martin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
     Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Jean Copeland.

Mrs. Mary Baldridge Crutchfield

     Mrs. Mary Baldridge Crutchfield, 92, of Martin, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at the Martin Health Care Center. Services for Mrs. Crutchfield were held Friday, July 28, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church. Burial was in the Tansil Cemetery in Sharon. Rev. Roger Lipe and Rev. Raymond Carneal officiated the services. Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
     Mrs. Crutchfield worked as a Cashier at the T-Room beginning in 1961 and was there for over 20 years. She later worked as in medical records at Volunteer General Hospital and did volunteer work for Wee Care Ministries. Mrs. Crutchfield was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Bob Reavis Chapter #71 Order of The Eastern Star. She was born October 3, 1913 to the late Jodie Russell Baldridge and Lena Wagster Baldridge. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crutchfield was preceded in death by her husband, Arden Crutchfield; four brothers, Paul Baldridge, Dennis Baldridge, Charles Baldridge and Dale Baldridge; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
     Mrs. Crutchfield is survived by two sons, Joe Crutchfield (Darlene) of Chicago, Illinois and Glen Crutchfield (Virgie) of Memphis; two daughters, Joy Adams (Bill) of Martin and Linda Russell of Pompano Beach, Florida; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
     Memorials may be sent to the Central Baptist Church building fund or Wee Care Ministries.

Ms. Geneva Dilday

     Ms. Geneva Dilday, 56, of Dresden, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at her home. Services for Ms. Dilday were held Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Vernon Smith officiated the services.
     Ms. Dilday was a Production Worker for MTD. She was a native of Weakley County and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dresden. Ms. Dilday was preceded in death by her father, Fred Lee Dilday and two sisters, Mozelle Dilday and Shirley Gardner.
     Ms. Dilday is survived by two daughters Lisa (Mike) Ballard of Dresden and Lora Winchester of Smyrna; her mother, Mrs. Vertie Doster Dilday of Dresden; three sisters, Doris Conder of Paris, Sue Dilday of Dresden and Patsy Cashion of Dresden; two brothers, Dewey Dilday of Dresden and Hoyt Dilday of Dresden; and six grandchildren.
