Bobbie Lou Hunt
Bobbie Lou Hunt, 71, of Martin, died Thursday, April 20,
2006, at her home. Funeral services for Miss Hunt were held
Saturday, April 22, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral
Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in
Martin. Rev. Don Bullock officiated the services.
Miss Hunt was retired from Martin Manufacturing Company and
attended Broadway Baptist Church. She was born October 6,
1934 in Martin to the late John Marion Hunt and Adeline Mann
Hunt. In addition to her parents, Miss Hunt was also
preceded in death by a brother, Sam Hunt, Jr..
Miss Hunt is survived by a brother, Fred Hunt of Martin; two
sisters, Emma Louise Hunt Gallimore of Martin, and Darlen
Faye Hunt Brown of Martin; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hunt
of Martin.
Hilda C. Matz
Hilda C. Matz, 82, of Dresden, formerly of Dukedom, died
Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Volunteer Community Hospital in
Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Matz were held Friday,
April 21, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Home in
Dukedom. Burial followed in Good Springs Cemetery in
Dukedom.
Mrs. Matz was the owner of the former N&H Grocery Store in
Dukedom and was a Baptist by faith. She was born May 26,
1923 in Weakley County and had lived in this area most of
her life. Mrs. Matz was preceded in death by her husband,
Nick Matz and her parents, Guy and Vauda (Winstead) Harwood.
Mrs. Matz is survived by a daughter, Judith Goode of
Dresden; a son, David Matz of Dresden; four grandchildren,
Larry Dale Cheatham of San Rafael, California, Katherine
Lynn Castillo of Jackson, Shannon Matz of Camp Lejeune,
North Carolina, and Mandy Hatela of Nashville; six
great-grandchildren; a brother, Hallas Harwood of
Evansville, Indiana; and a sister, Hazel Killebrew of
Latham.
James Wiley Johnson
James Wiley Johnson, 58, of Paris, died Wednesday, April 19,
2006, at Jackson General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr.
Johnson were held Friday, April 21, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at
Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in
Sand Hill Cemetery, near Gleason. Bro. Roy Auvenshine
officiated the services.
Mr. Johnson was a truck driver and a Baptist by faith. He
was born in Lansing, Michigan to the late Wiley Edward and
Bonnie Cravens Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Faye Mathis
Johnson of Paris; two sons, John Grant of Jackson,
Mississippi, and Ian Scott Grant of Seattle, Washington; a
sister, Linda Smith of Paris; a brother, LeRoy Johnson of
Paris; and six grandchildren.
Lisa Ann Turner
Lisa Ann Turner, 41, of Camden, died Sunday, April 23, 2006,
at Camden General Hospital. Funeral services for Ms. Turner
will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at
Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home Chapel in Camden. Burial
followed in Sandy Point Cemetery. Bro. L.C. Hollingsworth
officiated the services.
Ms. Turner was a homemaker and attended Westside General
Baptist Church. She was born December 30, 1964 in Camden.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Ann Weatherly
Turner.
Ms. Turner is survived by two daughters, Mandy Turner of
Bruceton, and Sherri Turner of Bruceton; her father and
stepmother, Joe Dale Smith and Carol Smith of Martin; a
sister, Julie Whittaker of Martin; a brother, Joe B. Smith
of Martin; a grandchild, Caleb Newhouse of Bruceton; three
nieces; and one nephew.
Charles Weston Bradford
Charles Weston Bradford, 79, of Greenfield, died Sunday,
April 16, 2006, at Trenton Health Care. Funeral services for
Mr. Bradford were held Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at 2:00 p.m.
at the Sharon Church of Christ. Burial followed in Woodlawn
Cemetery. Larry Powers and Glen Ary officiated the services.
Mr. Bradford was a farmer. He was born December 30, 1926 in
Dyer County. Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by three
brothers, Milton Bradford, Alton Bradford, and Tommy
Bradford; and two sisters, Golden Scobey and Christine
Dunahoo.
Mr. Bradford is survived by his wife, Willie Dean Bradford
of Greenfield; a son, Charles Larry Bradford of New
Johnsonville, Tennessee; a daughter, Shirley Jean Singleton
of Nashville; two brothers, Herman Bradford of Newbern, and
Marvin Bradford of Trimble; a sister, Alma Marshall of
Trimble; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
James Leon Rachel
James Leon Rachel, 77, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, April
18, 2006, at Martin Health Care Center. Funeral services for
Mr. Rachel were held Thursday, April 20, 2006, at 2:00 p.m.
at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial
followed in Hornbeak Cemetery in Greenfield. Bro. Joe Lusby
officiated the services.
Mr. Rachel was a drug store clerk. He was born October 31,
1928 to the late Monroe Rachel and Altie McKelvey.
Justin James Thompson
Justin James Thompson, 18, of Dresden, died Monday,
April 17, 2006, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 21, 2006, at 3:00
p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial
followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Sam Swanson
officiated the services.
Mr. Thompson was a welder and a member of Bethel Baptist
Church in Greenfield. He was born in Apple Valley,
California to David Thompson and Kimberly Lynn Joyce Barbee.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, John and June
Thompson.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his father, David Thompson of
Apple Valley, California; his mother and stepfather, Kim and
Wes Barbee of Dresden; a sister, Katrina Thompson of
Dresden; a brother, Brian (Desiree) Thompson of Kenton;
grandparents, James and Doris Joyce of Dresden; and a niece,
Maliyah Rain Thompson of Kenton.
