Stephenson named WHS Lady
Chargers head coach |
By J. R. Peevyhouse

Local basketball fans will see a
familiar face on the Westview sidelines when the high school
hoops season tips off in November as former Dresden High
School girls' head coach Sean Stephenson was hired last week
to fill the vacancy at the Lady Chargers' head coaching
position.
Stephenson left Dresden High School last summer to take
the girls' head coaching job at Franklin High School.
However, when the position at Westview came open, Stephenson
could not turn it down.
"If I didn't think it was a great situation for me and
my family, I would not have taken the job," Stephenson said.
"I feel like an adopted Weakley County native, since I have
been here almost as long as I have been anywhere else."
Stephenson inherits a team which made it to the first
round of the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament in March.
"I give a lot of credit to Kevin and Paige (McMillan),"
Stephenson said. "They have built a really good program here
and I look forward to carrying on the tradition they
started."
Stephenson met with the Lady Chargers for about an hour
on Thursday evening, then met with the players' parents
following that, answering any questions and concerns both
groups had.
Stephenson coached the Lady Lions from 1999 through
2004. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at
Martin.
