Anabel Kilgore Henderson
Anabel Kilgore Henderson, 91, of Dresden, died Tuesday,
August 30, 2005, at Hillview Community Living Center in
Dresden. Funeral services for Mrs. Henderson were held
Friday, September 2, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral
Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Palmersville
Cemetery. Bro. Kieth Dublin and Bro. Tony Terrell officiated
the services.
Mrs. Henderson was a retired cook and a member of
Palmersville Baptist Church since 1928. She was a native of
Weakley County and the daughter of the late John Spencer and
Charlie Ewing Bostic Kilgore. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Henderson was also preceded in death by her husband,
Thomas Masyl Henderson; and a daughter, Charlotte Ann Bynum.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by a son, David Henderson of
Bolivar, Tennessee; a brother, Max Gerald Kilgore of
Covington, Georgia; three grandchildren, including Renee
Potts of Palmersville; and five great-grandchildren.
Edgar Nanney
Edgar Nanney, 89, of Dresden, died Thursday, September
1, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Mr. Nanney were held Friday, September 2, 2005,
at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon.
Burial followed in New Salem Cemetery in Dresden. Corey
Sawyers and Edmond Prater officiated the services.
Mr. Nanney was a farmer. He was born December 1, 1915
in Weakley County.
Mr. Nanney is survived by two sons, Eulane Nanney of
Dresden, and Larry Nanney of Dresden; a brother, Robert
Nanney of Woodland Mills, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and
seventeen great-grandchildren. James Richard
"Steve" Cornell
James Richard "Steve" Cornell, 93 of Dresden, died
Friday, August 19, 2005, at the Weakley County Nursing Home
in Dresden. Services for Mr. Cornell were held Sunday,
August 21, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial was in the Sunset Cemetery in
Dresden. Rev. Jim Calhoun officiated the services.
Mr. Cornell was a Machinist for Teletype Corporation.
He was born in Sharon to the late Isham and Gussie Hunt
Cornell. He was a World War II Army Veteran and attended the
Dresden First United Methodist Church. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Cornell was preceded in death by a sister,
Winnie Powell and a brother, Harry Cornell.
Mr. Cornell is survived by his wife, Lona Harris Hamlin
Bowlin Cornell; two stepdaughters, Shirley Bowlin Miles of
Bartlett, Illinois and Betty Bowlin Airhart of North Aurora,
Illinois; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two
nephews, William C. (Billy) Powell of Dresden, and James
Powell of Springville, Tennessee; and a niece, Sarah Koch of
Grantsville, Pennsylvania. Joe Julian
Joe Julian, 78, of Gleason, died Sunday, August 28,
2005, in Franklin. Funeral services for Mr. Julian were held
Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzie Church
of Christ. Burial followed in New Valley Cemetery in
Gleason. Bro. Jim Roberts and Bro. Jerry Patterson
officiated the services.
Mr. Julian was a home builder and a member of the
McKenzie Church of Christ. He was born August 1, 1927 in
Jackson, Tennessee to the late G.W. and Jester (Cottingim)
Julian.
Mr. Julian is survived by his wife, Shirley (Boals)
Julian; a son, Eddy Julian of Lexington, Kentucky; a
stepdaughter, Beth Gibson of Medon, Tennessee; two sisters,
Elizabeth Pope of Jackson, and Maudie Huey of Gleason; seven
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Maggie
Norene Connell
Maggie Norene Connell, 94, of Martin, died Saturday,
September 3, 2005, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Center in
Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Connell were held Monday,
September 5, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in
Sharon. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Joe Lee
Connell and Lindell Doty officiated the services.
Mrs. Connell was retired from Weakley County Nursing
Home. She was born September 7, 1910 in Lake County,
Tennessee. Mrs. Connell was preceded in death by her
husband, Clois Leonard Connell.
Mrs. Connell is survived by a daughter, Joan Caudle of
Foley, Alabama; two sons, Charles Robert Connell of Sharon,
and Jerry Wayne Connell of Sharon; six grandchildren; and
one great-grandchild. Paul Farmer
Paul Farmer, 82, of Springville died Monday, August 29,
2005, at his home.
Mr. Farmer was born on March 8, 1923, in Eva,
Tennessee. He was the son of Thomas Mason and Dora Phifer
Farmer, both preceded him in death. He grew up in Benton
County. He served in World War II with the United States
Army, Company B, 344th Engineers. He was an operator of
heavy equipment and served in both the European and African
Theaters. He returned home after the service and on December
7, 1946 married Helen Wimberley of Springville, who
survives. Mr. Farmer was a farmer by trade and a producer of
registered Polled Hereford cattle. He also worked with the
Henry County School System in the maintenance department.
Mr. Farmer was a longtime member of Springville Baptist
Church, where he served as a deacon.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 1, 2005,
at 11:00 a.m. at Springville Baptist Church. Burial followed
at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Springville. Johnny Farmer
officiated the services.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Farmer is also survived by
son, Johnny Farmer, minister of Bethany Baptist Church, and
wife, Marian, of Springville; son, Steve Farmer and wife,
Lyn, of Springville; daughter, Pam Farmer Walker of
McMinnville; grandchildren, Rusty Farmer and wife, Candise,
of Springville, Jody Farmer and wife, Beth, of Camden, Amy
Farmer of Nashville, Chasity Jackson and husband, Shawn, of
Mobile, Alabama, and Cody Walker of McMinnville;
great-granddaughter, Julia Helen Farmer of Camden; brother,
T.W. Farmer and wife, Johnnie Jean of Dresden; and sister,
Jean Wright of Hickory, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Farmer and
his wife, Marie, of Dresden; and a sister, Mable Edwards and
her husband, Harvey of Martin. William Blaine Mount
William Blaine Mount, 65, of Martin, died Wednesday,
August 31, 2005, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Funeral services for Mr. Mount were held Saturday, September
3, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin.
Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Raymon
Carneal officiated the services.
Mr. Mount was a retired maintenance supervisor at
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He was a member of Central
Baptist Church and a graduate of Sharon High School. Mr.
Mount was born November 23, 1939 in Weakley County to the
late Floyd D. Mount and Sallie Cole Mount. In addition to
his parents, Mr. Mount was also preceded in death by a son,
Randy Mount; and a brother, Bob Mount.
Mr. Mount is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patricia Ann
Melton Mount of Martin; a son, William Blaine (Billy) Mount,
II of Gleason; three daughters, Jacquline Choate of
Knoxville, Tennessee, Rene' Gray of Oakland, Tennessee, and
Machael Ann Lane of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a brother,
Floyd Thomas Mount of Sharon; and ten grandchildren.
Bobbi Jo Hutchison Farlow Ellis
Bobbi Jo Hutchison Farlow Ellis, 35, of Dresden, died
Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in
Martin. Funeral services for Ms. Ellis were held Friday,
September 2, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Jolley Springs
Cemetery near Dresden. Bro. Gene Price officiated the
services.
Ms. Ellis was a homemaker and a member of Mack's Grove
Baptist Church near Dresden. She was born in Beeville, Texas
to Jimmy A. Hutchison of Winston Salem, North Carolina and
Barbara J. Winstead Hutchison of Dresden. Ms. Ellis was
preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Hutchison.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Ellis is also survived
by a son, Dustin Farlow of Dresden; a sister, Kimberly
Hutchison of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; a brother, Joe Hutchison
of Dresden; grandmother, Captola Winstead of Dresden; and
her fiancé, Dwight Emerson of Dresden. Irene Parish
Bates Diviney
Irene Parish Bates Diviney, 85, of Greenfield, died
Friday, September 2, 2005, at her daughter's home in
Greenfield. Funeral services for Ms. Diviney were held
Saturday, September 3, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at New Prospect
Baptist Church. Burial followed in New Prospect Cemetery in
Greenfield. Joe Lusby and Joe Williamson officiated the
services.
Ms. Diviney was a teacher and attended New Prospect
Baptist Church near Greenfield. She was born July 18, 1920
in Dema, Mississippi to the late Bunk Parish and Millie
Rose.
Ms. Diviney is survived by two daughters, Ramona
(Bates) Stricklin of Greenfield, and Phyllis (Diviney) King
of Irvin, Texas; two sons, Larry Bates of Forrest Hill,
Louisiana, and Allvin Bates of Edmond, Oklahoma; three
sisters, Rose Williams of Greenfield, Dulcie Bates of
Greenfield, and Edith Westmoreland of Bradford; eleven
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Joe E.

Joe E. May, 73, of Memphis, died Wednesday, August 31,
2005.
He was a member of Highland Street Church of Christ. He
formerly worked as a salesman for Wonder Bread and Keathley
Pie Company and later formed his own business. He was also a
member of Winyke.
He leaves behind his wife, Betty; and three children,
Ron May of Detroit, Michigan, Patti Hosselrocke of Memphis,
and Doug May of Tampa; six granddaughters; one grandson; and
one great-grandson.
Services were held at noon on Saturday, September 3,
2005 in Memorial Park Chapel.
Lucille (Hutchens) Simon
Lucille (Hutchens) Simon, 82, of the Harris Community,
Union City, died Sunday, September 4, 2005, at Beverly
Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services for Mrs.
Simon will be held today, Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at
11:00 a.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Kentucky.
Burial will follow in Matheny Grove Cemetery in Weakley
County. Larry Hitesman officiated the services.
Mrs. Simon was of the Methodist faith and had worked
for the former Salant & Salant Garment Company. She was born
November 23, 1922 in Weakley County and had lived in the
Harris Community most of her life. Mrs. Simon was preceded
in death by her parents, William F. "Billy" and Lillie Mae (Lomax)
Hutchens; and a brother, Ardell Hutchens.
Mrs. Simon is survived by her husband, Thoms Simon of
Union City, whom she married October 15, 1966.
Mamie Lee Gallimore Vaughn
Mamie Lee Gallimore Vaughn, 81, of Martin, died Friday,
September 2, 2005, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Vaughn were held Monday, September
5, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in
Dresden. Burial followed in Travis Chapel Cemetery near
Dresden. Bro. Tony Terrell officiated the services.
Mrs. Vaughn was a homemaker and a member of Davis
Memorial Baptist Church near Dresden. She was a native of
Weakley County and the daughter of the late Clarence Ervin
and Onie Lee Ellis Gallimore. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Vaughn was also preceded in death by her husband, James
Harold Vaughn; a sister, Eddie Bell Darnell; and a brother,
Aubrey Gallimore.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by a daughter, Sherry Lynn
Bryant of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; a son, Alan Neal Vaughn
of Wayne, New Jersey; a sister, Addie Mae Battaglia of
Madison, Mississippi; a brother, Clarence Gallimore, Jr. of
Dresden; one grandchild; and four step-grandchildren.
Rev. Melvin D. Stott
Rev. Melvin D. Stott, 68, of Dresden, died Sunday,
August 28, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Memorial services for Rev. Stott were held Thursday,
September 1, 2005, at 6:30 p.m. at Dresden Cumberland
Presbyterian Church and on Friday, September 2, 2005, at
2:00 p.m. at Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church in
Bartlett, Tennessee. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in
Brunswick, Tennessee.
Rev. Stott was a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister and a
member of Grace Presbytery, Masonic Lodge 240 Tampa,
Florida, 32nd Scottish Rite of Free Masons, Tampa, Florida,
Valley of Tampa, Orient of Florida. He was a native of
Jefferson County, Tennessee and the son of the late Melvin
D. and Nelle Bettis Stott, Sr.
Rev. Stott is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beverly Rast
Stott of Dresden; a daughter, Roberta J. Smith of Eukuoka
City, Japan; three sons, Bruce Stott of Maryville,
Tennessee, Kellous Stott of Sparta, Tennessee, and Paul
Stott of Bartlett, Tennessee; a sister, Hope Randels of Bon
Aqua, Tennessee; and seven grandchildren. W.T.

W.T. Bailey, 69, of Dresden, died Tuesday, August 30,
2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Bailey were held
Friday, September 2, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral
Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in West Union
Cemetery in Dresden. Rev. Nathan Horton and Rev. Dave Gargus
officiated the services.
Mr. Bailey was a retired construction worker and member
of Siloam General Baptist Church in Dresden. He was born
October 13, 1935 in Paris to the late Raymond and Cora
Stephens Bailey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bailey was
also preceded in death by a sister, Stella Dilday.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Iva Sue Powers
Bailey; a son, Ricky Bailey of Bartlett, Tennessee; two
daughters, Darlene Dunning of Dresden, and Jana Gallimore of
Dresden; a brother, Rev. Charles Bailey of Gleason; a
sister, Christine Wiggins of McKenzie; nine grandchildren;
and twelve great-grandchildren.
