Altha Hunt Snider

     Altha Hunt Snider, 82, of Dresden, died Thursday, October 27, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Snider were held Saturday, October 29, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Apostolic Church near Dresden. Burial followed in Liberty Apostolic Church Cemetery. Bro. Ted Wade officiated the services.
     Mrs. Snider was a housekeeper and member of Liberty Apostolic Church near Dresden. She was a native of Steele, Missouri and the daughter of the late Barney and Wilma Couples Hunt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snider was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Harold Snider; and a son, Harold Duane Snider.
     Mrs. Snider is survived by two sons, Jerry Snider of Dresden, and Ronnie Snider of Dresden; three sisters, Margaret Wilson of Dresden, Flossie Chappell of Dresden, and Ruth Tucker of Martin; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

James Monroe Green

     James Monroe Green, 93, of Sharon, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Graveside services for Mr. Green were held Thursday, October 27, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Bradford Cemetery. Don Bowlin officiated the services.
     Mr. Green was a former employee of American Tool Co. He was born October 19, 1912 in Palmersville. Mr. Green was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Green and Cecil Green; and two sisters, Orla Lee Baker and Irene Dilday.
     Mr. Green is survived by a son, Freddie Green of Chicago, Illinois; and two brothers, Jeff Green of Dresden, and Virgil Green of Sharon.

John T. Warren

     John T. Warren, 81, of Buchanan, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at the Henry County Medical Center. Services for Mr. Warren were held Saturday, October 29, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hornbeak Cemetery with burial following. Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
     Mr. Warren was an employee of General Motors. He was born October 24, 1924 in Rutherford to the late John Warren and Dora K. Sharp. Mr. Warren served in the U.S. Navy.
     Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Tamie Warren of Bryant, Arkansas; a son, Tom Warren of Joplin, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Poe of Sharon and Betty McClancan of Rives; and two brothers, Johnny Warren of Rives and Bill Warren of Doniphan, Missouri.

Maurine Hopper Barriger

     Maurine Hopper Barriger, 68, of Bartlett, formerly of Gleason, died Sunday, October 23. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m., at Family Funeral Care with visitation from noon until time of service. Burial will be at Memory Hill Gardens.
     Mrs. Hopper is survived by three daughters, Vicki L. Williams, Lisa B. Williams, and Chelsa Barriger, all of Memphis; and a son, Jerrye L. Barriger Jr. of Memphis; three sisters, Martha Lemonds of McKenzie, Betty Shell of Gleason, and Nancy Brock of Bledsoe, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrye Barriger.
     Memorials may be sent to West Clinic in research for ovarian cancer or Redeemer Evangelical Church, where she was a member.

Mr. Robert S. Dubiel

     Mr. Robert S. Dubiel, 85, of Martin, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. Graveside services for Mr. Dubiel were held Friday, October 28, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the East Side Cemetery in Martin. Father Joseph Paolozzi officiated the services. Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
     Mr. Dubiel was a Sales and Repair person of postage machine equipment. He was a member of the St .Jude Catholic Church. He was born June 2, 1920 to the late Stanley Dubiel and Tilly Konjolka Dubiel.
     Mr. Dubiel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Relma Garner Dubiel of Martin; a son, Robert K. Dubiel of Makawao, Hawaii; a brother Joseph Dubiel of Lisles, Illinois; and three sisters, Anna Tomaso of Pulaski, New York, Loraine Bowers of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Mary Mulholland of Santa Monica, California.

Samuel M. Jackson

     Samuel M. Jackson, 64, of Grand Ledge, Michigan, died Sunday, October 30, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Jackson will be held Friday, November 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial will follow in Sandy Branch Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Aley Davidson will officiate the services.
     Mr. Jackson was a retired employee of Michigan State University. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Fifty Plus Club, and the Machinist Guild of Portland, Michigan. Mr. Jackson was born November 9, 1940 in Union City. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Jackson; and a sister and brother-in-law, Carrie Nell and Johnny Lee Simpson.
     Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura D. Jackson of Grand Ledge, Michigan; a son, Jason (Staci) Jackson of Grand Ledge; a daughter, Sarah (Kelly) Davidson of Michigan; his mother, Katherine Morris Jackson of Martin; a sister, Angie (Jim) Moore of Trezevant; and two grandchildren, Matthew Davidson and Katherine Davidson.

Delila Christine Davidson

     Delila Christine Davidson, 83, of Dresden, died Saturday, October 29, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Davidson were held Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Hornbeak Cemetery in Greenfield. Mike Medling and Steve Boone officiated the services.
     Mrs. Davidson was a homemaker and attended the Church of Christ in Greenfield. She was born May 30, 1922 in Dyersburg to the late Arthur Sipes and Effie Hilliard. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davidson was also preceded in death by her husband, Denton Davidson.
     Mrs. Davidson is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Dean of Shreveport, Louisiana; three sons, Dennie Davidson of Martin, Gale Davidson of Dresden, and Gery Davidson of MacClenny, Florida; a sister, Madgie Gilliland of Halls; seventeen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James "Jimmy" Waymon Birchem

     James "Jimmy" Waymon Birchem, 53, of Martin, died Friday, October 28, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Birchem were held Monday, October 31, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Don Bullock officiated the services.
     Mr. Birchem was an employee of the State of Tennessee Highway Department and a graduate of Dresden High School. He was also a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Martin. Mr. Birchem was born June 18, 1952 in Weakley County. He was preceded in death by his father, James Birchem.
     Mr. Birchem is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kay Stone Birchem of Martin; a son, Shane Berry of Martin; a daughter, Bridget Hayden of Lebanon, Kentucky; his mother, Ruth Tilly Birchem of Martin; two brothers, Tommy Birchem of Martin and Greg Birchem of Martin; and one granddaughter, Alex Berry of Martin.

Jim Lewis Reddick

     Jim Lewis Reddick, 78, of Greenfield, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the McKenzie Regional Hospital. Services for Mr. Reddick were held Monday, October 24, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Gleason. Rev. Keith Pence officiated the services.
     Mr. Reddick was a Farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Church. He was born July 12, 1927 in Gleason to the late Robert G. Reddick and Helen G. Bice.
     Mr. Reddick is survived by a sister, Claudean Pugh of Greenfield.

Margrette Pentecost

     Margrette Pentecost, 94, of Holt, Michigan, died October 31, 2005. Born June 7, 1911 in Jewel, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Finis and Zula (Peery) Tuck, both now deceased. Mrs. Pentecost was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for 52 years.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Lilbern; two sons, Harry and Kennis Pentecost; and a daughter-in-law, Lee Pentecost. One sister, Mae Kelley; and one brother, Warren Tuck, also preceded her in death.
     Surviving are two daughters, Ann (Ray) Canafax and Kay (Larry) Dunson; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Pentecost; three sons, Bill (Mary), L.B. (Joan), and Ralph (Dayna) Pentecost; nineteen grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 2, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, Lansing with Pastor Richard H. Rogers and Pastor Jim Hixon, officiating. Interment followed in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing.

Michael A. Munkel

     Michael A. Munkel, 58, of Martin, died Thursday, October 27, 2005, at Regional Hospital in Jackson. Memorial services for Mr. Munkel will be held today, Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Ed and Carolyn Boling University Center on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus.
     Mr. Munkel was the longtime manager of University of Tennessee at Martin dining services and a recipient of state and national community service awards. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, and joined the UT Martin staff in 1984. Mr. Munkel was also a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church. He was born October 15, 1947 in Sacramento, California.
     Mr. Munkel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patricia Eckert Munkel of Martin; a son, Christopher Munkel of Huntersville, North Carolina; his parents, Gene Munkel and Edna Lee Munkel of Lime Springs, Iowa; a sister, Beverly McCartney of Gillette, Wyoming; and three grandchildren.

Mr. William Hershel Crews

     Mr. William Hershel Crews, 83, of Dresden, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at the Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Services for Mr. Crews were held Friday, October 28, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Dr. Don McCulley officiated the services.
     Mr. Crews was a Farmer. He was native of Weakley County and the son of the late Walter Lee and Daisy Jones Crews. Mr. Crews was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden and the Dresden Masonic Lodge #90. In addition to his parents, Mr. Crews was preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Laurine Featherstone Crews.
     Mr. Crews is survived by two sons, Jerry Crews of Martin and Joe Crews of Dresden.
