Homer Lewis Nanney
Homer Lewis Nanney, 96, of Mayfield, Kentucky, formerly
of Dresden, died Monday, November 7, 2005, at Mills Manor in
Mayfield, Kentucky. Funeral services for Mr. Nanney were
held Thursday, November 10, 2005, at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Unity Cemetery in
Dresden. Wayne Berry officiated the services.
Mr. Nanney was a retired Blacksmith/Welder. He was a
born in Como to the late A.B. and Celia Auvenshine Nanney.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nanney was also preceded in
death by a stepson, David Bynum.
Mr. Nanney is survived by his wife, Fay Bynum Nanney of
Mayfield, Kentucky; a stepdaughter, Shirley Gibson of
Chicago, Illinois; a stepson, Donald Bynum of Kansas City,
Kansas; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and
two great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Bill Nanney and
Donald Winstead; and five nieces, Ima Nell Jones, Estell
McAlister, Glenda Duke, Alma Gay, and Maxine Workman.
John DeWayne Cummins
John DeWayne Cummins, 64, of Dresden, died Friday,
November 11, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr.
Cummins were held Sunday, November 13, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at
Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in
Grove Hill Cemetery near Dresden. Fred Lehmkuhl officiated
the services.
Mr. Cummins was a Millwright Consultant and a Baptist
by faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post #94, a
Service Officer of the VFW 10020, member of the DAV Chapter
#98, and a Mason at Marine City, Michigan. Mr. Cummins was a
native of Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a
sister, Carolyn Brandt.
Mr. Cummins is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Jane
Cummins of Dresden; four sons, Mike Cummins (Candalyn) of
Land-of-Lakes, Florida, Larry Cummins (Lynette) of Marine
City, Michigan, Bryan Cummins (Laurie) of Lillington, North
Carolina, and John T. Cummins of Adrian, Michigan; a sister,
Marilyn O'Shea of Miami, Florida; eleven grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
Lula Mae Arnold
Lula Mae Arnold, 77, of Gleason, died at McKenzie
Health Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Arnold were held
Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel
in Gleason. Burial followed in New Valley Cemetery. Rev. Don
Bullock and Rev. Mike Jeffers officiated the services.
Mrs. Arnold was a Weakley County Title 20 Homemaker and
member of New Valley Methodist Church. She was born April
13, 1928 in Gleason to the late David and Ora (Perry)
Anderson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Arnold was also
preceded in death by her husband, Hershal Arnold.
Mrs. Arnold is survived by three daughters, Bonnie
Bullock of Dresden, Connie Beasley of McKenzie, and Kim
Heaberlin of Nolansville, Tennessee; a brother, Robert
Anderson of Gleason; six grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
Sammy Lee Driver
Sammy Lee Driver, 47, of Union City, died Sunday,
November 13, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union
City. Funeral services for Mr. Driver will be held today,
Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral
Home in Martin. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery in
Martin. Rev. J.T. Brown will officiate the services.
Mr. Driver formerly worked for Don Wright Painting
Company. He was born September 8, 1958 in Weakley County. He
was preceded in death by his mother, June Glover Darnes
Driver; a brother, Robert T. Driver; and two sisters,
Barbara June Long and Janice Marie Lowrance.
Mr. Driver is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Ann
Tucker Driver of Union City; two sons, Billy Laird of
Hornbeak, and Jamie Lee Driver of Union City; a daughter,
Samantha Walker (Shane) of Union City; two brothers, Thomas
Driver of Samberg and Billy Joe Driver of Troy; a
brother-in-law, Robert Lowrance of Union City; his
father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Enola Buckelew
of Dresden; eight grandchildren; and one step-granddaughter.
Jerry Thomas Jackson
Jerry Thomas Jackson, 63, of Dresden, died Saturday,
November 5, 2005, at his home. Burial was held in the
Pilgram's Rest Cemetery in Christmasville. A memorial
service will be held for Mr. Jackson at a later date to be
announced.
Mr. Jackson was a retired Foreman for Marquette Tool
and Die Company. He was born in Cauthersville, Missouri to
the late Joseph and Hazel Rae Norman Jackson. He was Baptist
by faith and a US Navy Veteran. In addition to his parents,
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina
Rochelle Whitaker and a son Melvin Weir.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Lois Smith Jackson
of Dresden; three daughters, J.P. Jackson Roadcap of
Dresden, Robin Dawn Besher of Fredericktown, Missouri,
Deborah Pazdera of St. Louis, Missouri; a son, Daniel Weir
of St. Clair, Missouri; two sisters, Eva Jo Godsey of
Branson, Missouri and Mary McKinnon of Dietmer, Missouri;
three brothers, Billy Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri, Robert
Jackson of Washington State and James Jackson; 13
grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and two beloved grand
puppies, Sassy and Molly.
Lavada Lee Dilday
Lavada Lee Dilday, 98, of Dresden, died Sunday,
November 6, 2005, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs.
Dilday were held Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at 11:00 a.m.
at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in
Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Jerry Gallimore officiated
the services.
Mrs. Dilday was retired from Leon's Homemade Foods in
Lansing, Michigan and was a member of Sand Hill Baptist
Church near Dresden. She was born in Weakley County to the
late Jack and See Parsley Stallcup. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Dilday was also preceded in death by her
husband, Elbert Gene "Shorty" Dilday; and a daughter, Joan
Shihady.
Mrs. Dilday is survived by a son, Bob Dilday of Armada,
Michigan; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren;
and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
Renee Lee Elrod Sepulveda
Renee Lee Elrod Sepulveda, 82, of Martin, died Sunday,
November 6, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sepulveda were held Wednesday,
November 9, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in
Martin. Her ashes were laid to rest in East Side Cemetery in
Martin.
Mrs. Sepulveda worked in Fashion Merchandising at Merry
lee Shops in Martin and Union City. She was born July 12,
1923 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the late John Harley
Elrod and Merry Lee Nantz Elrod. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Sepulveda was also preceded in death by her husband,
Lorenzo Ramos Sepulveda; and a daughter, Alix Sepulveda.
Mrs. Sepulveda is survived by a son, Eric Sepulveda of
Martin; a sister, Eleanor Moehle of Illinois; and a
granddaughter, Julia Roney of Tennessee.
