Archie Lee Dillahunt
Archie Lee Dillahunt, 75, of the McConnell Community, died
Friday, April 29, 2005 at Martin Healthcare. Funeral
services for Mr. Dillahunt were held Sunday, May 1, 2005, at
2:00 p.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton. Burial
followed in Obion County Memorial Gardens in Union City.
Mr. Dillahunt was a retired self-employed carpenter in the
Martin area and was of the Catholic faith. He was born June
1, 1929 in Cardwell, Missouri to the late Herbert and Ada
Horn Dillahunt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dillahunt
was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn K. Byassee
Dillahunt; a sister; and a brother.
Mr. Dillahunt is survived by four sons, John Cruse of
Martin, Tony Dillahunt of South Fulton, Perry Dillahunt of
Martin, and Timmy Dillahunt of Arkansas; a daughter, Theresa
Adams of Kansas City, Missouri; and six grandchildren.
Jerry Craig Usery
Jerry Craig Usery, 52, of Atlanta, Georgia, died Sunday,
April 24, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Usery
were held Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at
Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Bobby Odell officiated
the services.
Mr. Usery worked for Bell South as an Executive Manager. He
was born October 26, 1952 in Greenfield to the late Howard
L. Usery and Martha Jean Malone.
Mr. Usery is survived by two sons, Jeremy Usery of
Alpharetta, Georgia, and Jason M. Usery of Alpharetta,
Georgia; a brother, Jimmy Usery of Atoka, Tennessee; and a
sister, Jane Ann Davis of Jackson. Margaret Ann
Rains Neese
Margaret Ann Rains Neese, 51, formerly of Paris, died
Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Centennial Hospital in
Nashville. Funeral services for Ms. Neese were held Monday,
May 2, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris.
Burial followed in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Father Bruce
McMillan of Holly Springs, Mississippi officiated the
services.
Before moving to Tennessee, Ms. Neese received her
Associates Degree in Interior Design in Houston, Texas,
where she worked with her sister in a design business. In
1985, she began working with various music artists including
Hank Williams, Jr. and Jimmy Buffett. She reopened the
Greystone Restaurant in 2001 and worked there until her
retirement. Ms. Neese was a member of the Episcopal Church
in Paris. She was born June 1, 1953 in Lauderdale County,
Tennessee. Ms. Neese was preceded in death by her father,
John A. Rains.
Ms. Neese is survived by a daughter, Jessica Neese Keenan of
Nashville; a son and daughter-in-law, John Ashley Lightfoot
Neese and wife, Mary Michael Neese of Birmingham, Alabama;
her mother, Carolyn Hubbard Tanner of Union City; a sister,
Elizabeth Rains Upshaw of Houston, Texas; a half-brother,
John Wesley Rains of North Carolina; two grandchildren,
Jackson Overstreet Keenan and Landon Robert Lightfoot Neese;
and a nephew, Joshua Ronald Upshaw of Houston, Texas.
Wyneta Joyce Fuller
Wyneta Joyce Fuller, 69, of Gleason, died Friday, April 22,
2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Mrs. Fuller were held Thursday, April 28, 2005,
at 1:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason.
Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery. Rev. Claude Prince and
Rev. Gene Price officiated the services.
Mrs. Fuller was a homemaker and member of West Union Baptist
Church. She was born July 15, 1935 in Paris to the late
Douglas Eli Winchester and Myrtle Blanche Buntin Winchester.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fuller was also preceded in
death by her husband, Johnny Fuller; a daughter, Robbie
Riddick; and a brother, Gerald Winchester.
Mrs. Fuller is survived by two sons, Gary Fuller of Augusta,
South Carolina, and Edward Fuller of Des Moines, Iowa; three
daughters, Jackie Arnold of Gleason, Judith Hugueley of
Seattle, Washington, and Constance Senter of Union City;
three brothers, Robert Winchester of Milan, Jerry Winchester
of Aurora, Illinois, and Paul Winchester of Davenport, Iowa;
four sisters, Geneva Travis of Clarksville, Tennessee,
Janice Beard of Iuka, Illinois, Betty Summers of Sikeston,
Missouri, and Reba Parham of Gleason; fifteen grandchildren;
and eleven great-grandchildren. Elberta Brundige
Owens
Elberta Brundige Owens, 86, of Jackson, formerly of Latham,
died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Owens were held
Thursday, April 28, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist
Church in Latham. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery. Bro.
Wayne Perkins, Bro. Donald Doster, and Bro. Kenneth Williams
officiated the services.
Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and member of New Hope Baptist
Church. She was a native of Weakley County and the daughter
of the late Elbert and Hortense Shanklin Brundige. In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Owens was also preceded in
death by her husband, Merchie C. Owens.
Mrs. Owens is survived by two daughters, Betty Dietzman of
Jackson, and Sherry Lochridge of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; a
son, James E. Owens of Fulton, Kentucky; two sisters, Elise
Wright of Martin, and Jean Berryman of Cottage Grove; eight
grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Joe D. Pentecost
Joe D. Pentecost of Okemos, Michigan and Sarasota, Florida,
entrepreneur, real estate developer, and long-time supporter
of many Michigan State University programs, passed away in
Florida on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 73 years of age.
Joe was born in Dresden and attended college at the
University of Tennessee. After a tour in the National Guard,
he joined Standard Oil Co. as a sales representative and
soon became the Real Estate Manager for Standard Oil in the
State of Michigan. In 1962, he left to pursue a career in
commercial real estate development. He was Owner and
President of Better Properties, Inc.; founding Director of
Republic Bank; Chairman of the Board of Republic Bancorp
Central; Director of First Union (Wachovia) National Bank of
Florida; Founding Director of Mercantile Bank of Naples,
Florida; Co-Founder of the National Association of Corporate
Real Estate Executives; member of Walnut Hills Country Club
in East Lansing; member of Prestancia Country Club in
Sarasota; member of the Elks, Shriner of Elf Khurafeh
Temple, Saginaw, Michigan; and life-time member Ashlar
Masonic Lodge #91, Detroit.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley (Tullar) of
Okemos; daughters, Libby Evans (John) of Texas, and Tina Gee
of Okemos, Michigan; sons, Robert Sager (Kathleen) of
Florida, Gary Sager (Barbara) of Gaylord, Michigan, and Mark
Sager (Kim) of East Lansing; thirteen grandchildren, Chris,
Mira, John, Christopher, Ryan, Mallory, Andrew, Katie,
Robert, Joseph, Bailey, Chelsea, and Lucas; two
great-grandchildren, Joshua and Riley; his brother, Gene
(Helen) Pentecost of Tennessee; and four nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell Howard and
Lillie Mai Bowlin Pentecost.
Services were held at the Presbyterian Church of Okemos,
Michigan on April 29th at 10:00 a.m.
Robert C. McDermott
Robert C. McDermott, 81, of Greenfield, died Monday, May 2,
2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral
services for Mr. McDermott will be held Thursday, May 5,
2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Burial will follow in Hornbeak Cemetery in Greenfield. Randy
Stacy will officiate the services.
Mr. McDermott was retired from Hills Canna Co., where he
worked as a supervisor. He was born February 12, 1924 in
Missouri to the late Robert McDermott and Lora Wren
McDermott.
Mr. McDermott is survived by a son, Ronald D. McDermott of
Memphis; two sisters, Frances Lyles of Greenfield, and
Dorothy Cooper of Kenton; and a brother, J.C. McDermott of
Georgia.
