Alice Parrish Cranford
Alice Parrish Cranford, 98, of Martin, died Friday, June 24,
2005, at Martin Health Care. Graveside services for Mrs.
Cranford were held Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at
Henderson City Cemetery in Henderson. H. Max Speight
officiated the services.
Mrs. Cranford was retired from a retail fabric store. She
was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin,
the James Buckley Chapter Daughters of the American
Revolution, and was a member for over 30 years of the Order
of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Cranford was born August 8, 1906
in Henderson to the late Thomas Odell Parrish and Lillian
Mae Hearn Parrish. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cranford
was also preceded in death by her husband, Arlin C.
Cranford; two brothers, George Nelson Parrish and Dr. Cecil
Odell Parrish; and two sisters, Lana Parrish Oliver and
Allene Parrish Watlington.
Mrs. Cranford is survived by a daughter, Janey C. Tyner of
Martin; and two grandsons, Joseph Tyner, Jr. of Martin and
Jason Andrew Tyner of Martin. Frances Elise Jenkins
Frances Elise Jenkins, 92, of Greenfield, died Monday, June
20, 2005, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Jenkins
were held Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Hunt
Funeral Home in Bradford. Burial followed in Pleasant View
Cemetery. Lynn Tharpe officiated the services.
Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and member of Pleasant View
Church of Christ. She was born March 14, 1913 in Alabama.
Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel
Odell Jenkins.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by a son, Glenn I. Jenkins of
Greenfield; a stepdaughter, Frances Nell Crawford of Walled
Lake, Michigan; a brother, Richard Holmes of Panama City,
Florida; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
James E. Moore
James E. Moore, 60, of Palmersville, died Monday, June 20,
2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Memorial
services for Mr. Moore were held Thursday, June 23, 2005, at
3:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial
followed in Good Springs Cemetery near Dukedom. Donald
Doster officiated the services.
Mr. Moore was a retired farmer. He was a native of Weakley
County and the son of the late Charles E. and Mary
Williamson Moore.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Alice Taylor Moore; three
daughters, Lori Jean Gibbons of Palmersville, Lisa Workman
of Bogota, Tennessee, and Dezarae Moore of Gleason; two
sons, Brandon Moore of Dresden, and James Moore, Jr.; a
sister, Cynthia Moore of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers,
Tommy Moore of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Danny Moore of
Mayfield, Kentucky; and eight grandchildren.
Dorothy Bowlin Dawson
Dorothy Bowlin Dawson, 80, of Dresden, died Thursday, June
23, 2005, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Dawson were
held Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 12:00 noon at Bowlin
Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Pisgah
Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Nathan Horton officiated the
services.
Mrs. Dawson was a housekeeper at Weakley County Nursing Home
in Dresden, as well as a member of Siloam General Baptist
Church near Dresden. She was born July 6, 1924, in Weakley
County to the late Herman Lois and Ruby Lorine Myrick Bowlin.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dawson was also preceded in
death by her husband, C.C. "Keg" Dawson; and three brothers,
Roy T. Bowlin, James Dual Bowlin, and Paul Bowlin.
Mrs. Dawson is survived by a son, Dan H. (Wanda) Dawson of
Dresden; a sister, Georgia Lou (Elmo) Ables of Mt. Pelia,
Tennessee; a brother, Bobby G. Bowlin of Obion, Tennessee;
two grandchildren, Danny Dawson and Dennis Dawson; two
step-grandchildren, Jeff Cantrell and Billie Faye Weedman;
five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and
one great-great-grandchild. Hythen H. (Polly)
Douthitt
Hythen H. (Polly) Douthitt, 93, of Fulton, Kentucky,
formerly of Dukedom, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at
Jackson Purchase Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs.
Douthitt were held Sunday, June 26, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at
Jackson Funeral Home in Dukedom. Burial followed in Good
Springs Cemetery in Dukedom. Rev. Larry McClure officiated
the services.
Mrs. Douthitt was a homemaker and a member of the Church of
Christ. She was born October 16, 1911 in Weakley County to
the late Melvin and Audie Blackard Hedge. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Douthitt was also preceded in death by her
husbands, Charlie Morris (1950) and Reed Douthitt (1972); a
son, Joe T. Morris; a stepson, Charles Morris; and a
brother, Herbert Hedge.
Mrs. Douthitt is survived by James E. Morris of Westland,
Michigan; two stepdaughters, Reba Dick of Westland,
Michigan, and Rachel Forrester of Farmington, Kentucky;
eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and
eighteen great-great-grandchildren. Sarah F. Jones
Sarah F. Jones, 55, of Dresden, died Wednesday, June 22,
2005, at her home. Funeral services for Miss Jones were held
Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Bethesda Church
Cemetery near Paris. Richard Carlson officiated the
services.
Miss Jones was a homemaker and attended Evergreen Church of
Christ in Dresden. She was born in Century, Florida to the
late L.C. and Gertrude Farish Jones.
Miss Jones is survived by three brothers, Paul Jones of
Cottage Grove, John Jones of Camden, and Robert "Mid" Jones
of Tremont, Illinois. |
