Bobby V. Harrington
Bobby V. Harrington, 66, of Milan, died Tuesday, August
2, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Harrington
were held Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at
Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in
Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Rutherford. Donnie White
officiated the services.
Mr. Harrington was a mechanic and attended First
General Baptist Church. He was born September 10, 1938 in
Rutherford. Mr. Harrington was preceded in death by his
father, David L. Harrington.
Mr. Harrington is survived by his wife, Sharon A.
Harrington of Milan; his mother, Martha N. Harrington of
Greenfield; two sons, Vance Harrington of Strong,
Mississippi, and Phillip Harrington of Milan; four
daughters, Angie Gibson of Greenfield, Felicia Lisa
Gallimore of Greenfield, Beatrice Bogle of Fulton,
Mississippi, and Elizabeth Stamper of Montochie,
Mississippi; three sisters, Collette Baker of Greenfield,
Alice Smith of Greenfield, and Debra Harrington of McKenzie;
three brothers, Danny Harrington of Raleigh, North Carolina,
Nathan L. Harrington of Greenfield, and Tommy Harrington of
McKenzie; and ten grandchildren. James Wyatt
Priestley
James Wyatt Priestley, 80, of Greenfield, died Monday,
August 1, 2005, at McKenzie Health Care Center. Funeral
services for Mr. Priestley were held Thursday, August 4,
2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in
Greenfield. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery in
Greenfield. Jim Roberts and Joe Atnip officiated the
services.
Mr. Priestley was a farmer and truck driver. He was
also a veteran of World War II and attended Kimery Church of
Christ in Greenfield. Mr. Priestley was born November 28,
1924 in Greenfield to the late Robert B. Priestley, Sr. and
Leeola McKee.
Mr. Priestley is survived by his wife, Martha Priestley
of Greenfield; three sons, Jimmy Priestley of McMinnville,
Tennessee, Keith Priestley of McKenzie, and Joe Priestley of
Germantown, Tennessee; a sister, Lodusca Priestley of
Greenfield; a brother, Eugene Priestley of Houston, Texas;
ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
John Thomas Killebrew
John Thomas Killebrew was born September 2, 1946 and
died July 26, 2005 at his home in Union City. Funeral
services were held Saturday, July 30, 2005, at White-Ranson
Funeral Chapel. Bro. Melvin Poe conducted the services with
burial in East View Cemetery.
He was once a Chicago Cubs slugger and was a Vietnam
veteran.
He is survived by his parents, John and Flora Killebrew
of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters; and also nieces and
nephews. Verna Marie "Sis" Arnold
Verna Marie "Sis" Arnold, 74, of Dresden, died
Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital
in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Arnold were held
Friday, August 5, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in West Union Cemetery in
Dresden. Bro. Doug Morris officiated the services.
Mrs. Arnold worked at Kellwood Manufacturing for 10
plus years and later became a full time homemaker. She was a
member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 in Rives. She was
born September 14, 1950 in Waverly, Tennessee to the late
Robert C. and Mary Merideth Stewart. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Arnold was also preceded in death by two
brothers, Jesse Clyde Stewart and Willie Hooper.
Mrs. Arnold is survived by her husband of 53 years,
Raymond C. "Fats" Arnold of Dresden; three daughters,
Christie Arnold of Dresden, Nancy Puckett of Modesto,
California, and Connie (Tim) Smith of Dresden; four sons,
Gary R. Arnold of Gleason, Jackie (Cheryl) Arnold of
Dresden, Marty Arnold of Dresden, and Barry Arnold of
Dresden; three sisters, Edith Edwards of Woodland Mills,
Tennessee, Emma Victory of Union City, and Jean Ursery of
Rives, Tennessee; a brother, Elvis Ray Stewart of Troy;
sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews. Earl Wardell Hicks
Earl Wardell Hicks, 77, of Gleason, died Monday, August
1, 2005, at Martin Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr.
Hicks were held Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at
Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in
Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Mike Jeffers officiated the
services.
Mr. Hicks was born November 7, 1927 in Gleason to the
late Claude and Willie Dunlap Hicks. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Hicks was also preceded in death by a brother,
Doyle Hicks.
Mr. Hicks is survived by four sisters, Lyndrel
Hutchison of Nashville, Tennessee, Wynona Denning of Garden
City, Michigan, Lena Faye Courtright of Michigan, and Jo Ann
Hobbs of Canton, Michigan. Jo Ann Cravens Houston
Jo Ann Cravens Houston, 70, of Paris, died Thursday,
August 4, 2005, at her daughter's home in McKenzie. Funeral
services for Mrs. Houston were held Saturday, August 6,
2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in
Gleason. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Vance
Rushing officiated the services.
Mrs. Houston was a department store clerk and a member
of the Gleason Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was born
November 19, 1934 in Gleason to the late Joe Huey and Maggie
Lois Heath Cravens. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Houston
was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Houston.
Mrs. Houston is survived by two sons, Tony Patton of
Eureka, Missouri, and Tim Patton of Gleason; a daughter,
Vickie Crocker of McKenzie; a brother, Terry Cravens of
McKenzie; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Johnnie Lloyd Hawks
Johnnie Lloyd Hawks, 74, of Sharon, died Saturday,
August 6, 2005 at Martin Healthcare.
Born November 19, 1930 to the late Albert and Susan Eaves
Hawks in Palmersville, he was a Baptist by faith. He served
his country in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hawks was
a life member of the VFW Post 4728 in Humboldt, a member of
the American Legion in Sharon, and a Mason. He was a retired
electrician of the former Douglas Lomas in Milan.
Surviving him is his wife, Carline (Childress) Hawks;
five stepsons, Jimmy (Shelia) Cupples of Humboldt, Ronnie
(Judy) Hollis of Greenfield, Robert (Renee) Hollis of
Greenfield, Raymond (Anita) Hollis of McKenzie, and Randall
(Tomena) Hollis of McKenzie; a stepdaughter, Kay (Keith)
Travis of Cordova, Tennessee; twenty grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Janice) Hawks of
Martin; and two sisters, Jean (Fred) Wilkerson of Dresden,
and Mabel McGee of Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death
by a stepdaughter, Brenda Heitman; and a sister, Polly
Tomlinson.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 8, 2005, at
2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield
with Bro. Roy Auvenshine officiating. Burial followed in
Morris Cemetery. |
