Charles Ray Brummitt

     Charles Ray Brummitt, 72, of Gleason, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Hillview Community Living Center in Dresden. Funeral services for Mr. Brummitt were held Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Mike Walker and Rev. Jim Pinnell officiated the services.
     Mr. Brummitt was retired from Quebecor World and was a member of the Gleason Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Gleason Masonic Lodge. He was born September 2, 1932 in Gleason to the late Homer and Mary Heath Brummitt.
     Mr. Brummitt is survived by two brothers, Thomas Brummitt of Gleason, and Jim Brummitt of Henry; and a sister, Jean Pachl of Gleason.

John B. Crawford, III

     John B. Crawford, III, age 92, of Henry, died April 19, 2005, at the McKenzie Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Services for Mr. Crawford were held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Henry, on Friday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m. Following the service, burial was at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
     Mr. Crawford retired from National Trust Life Insurance Company in Memphis after 25 years of service. During his tenure there, he was the recipient of numerous awards for outstanding service. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Henry, where he was involved in cattle farming for many years. John Crawford was a member of the Masons and the Eastern Star. He was an avid hunter and a recognized marksman of skeet and trap shooting competitions in and around Memphis and Shelby County gun clubs.
     John Crawford is survived by his wife, Scyble Agent Crawford of Henry; a son, Dr. Gerald L. Crawford (Cindy) of Florence, Alabama; two daughters, Joan Crawford Pritchett (James) of Martin, and Mary Kathryn Crawford O'Brien (Steve) of Parrish, Florida; four grandsons, Dr. Gerald (Jerry) Crawford, Jr. (Krista) of Florence, Alabama, Dr. Jay Crawford (Stacie) of Texas, Jim Pritchett, Jr. (Suzanne) of Martin, and Kevin O'Brien of Parrish, Florida; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah Crawford, Clint Crawford, Grant Crawford, Emma Crawford, all four of Florence, Alabama, Bo Crawford, J.B. Crawford, both of San Antonio, Texas, James Pritchett, III, and Lydia Beth Pritchett, both of Martin; and one sister, Floy Crawford Ezell of Jena, Louisiana.
     Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his father, John Berryman Crawford, II; his mother, Sallie Gilbert Crawford; three brothers, Marvin Crawford, Frank Crawford, and Henry Crawford; and two sisters, Ruth Pugh and Ruby Richardson.

Marta Freeman Pugh

     Marta Freeman Pugh, 49, of Kingsport, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005.
     After receiving a Masters of Nursing in 1980, she taught at the University of Tennessee. Marta's nursing career was followed by a long career as a wife and mother. More recently, she had been involved in many church and community activities including elder at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, Cap the Gap for Foster Care, Junior League, and various fundraising activities in support of breast cancer research. She was also an active spouse member of both Holston Valley Hospital and Wellmont Health System Board of Directors.
     Surviving are her husband, Dr. Tom Pugh, Kingsport; two daughters, Whitney Pugh and Jordan Pugh, both of Kingsport; her parents, Gerald and Faye Freeman, Martin; sister, Mona Lewis, Kingsport; brother, Dr. Mike Freeman and wife, Lisa, Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
     Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church with Rev. J. Thomas Phillips and Rev. Dr. Robert L. Lowry officiating.

Patrick Odell Davidson

     Patrick Odell Davidson, 1 day old, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Graveside services were held Sunday, April 24, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Sand Hill Cemetery. Gene Gallimore officiated the service.
     He is survived by his parents, Carl Davidson, Jr. and Pamela Faye Sawyers Davidson of Gleason.

Robert Thomas Higgs

     Robert Thomas Higgs, 72, of Gleason, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at her home. Funeral services for Mr. Higgs were held Monday, April 25, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Jim Pinnell and Lee Lawrence officiated the services.
    Mr. Higgs was a veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Higgs was born December 4, 1932 in Gleason to the late Jim and Willie Mitchell Higgs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Higgs was also preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Suddath; a brother, James Higgs; and two great-grandchildren.
     Mr. Higgs is survived by his wife, Nancy Arnold Higgs; a son, Linzie Higgs of Gleason; three daughters, Carol Pinnell of Gleason, Mary Totty of Greenfield, and Nancy Annette McHugh of Panama City, Florida; a brother, Charles Higgs of New Castle, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Urma B. Rafferty

     Urma B. Rafferty, 93, of Dresden, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Graveside services for Mrs. Rafferty were held Friday, April 22, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Blooming Grove Cemetery in Dresden. Elder Ed Long officiated the service.
     Mrs. Rafferty was a homemaker and member of Blooming Grove Primitive Baptist Church. She was a native of Weakley County and the daughter of the late Vince and Lunnie Stalling Prince. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rafferty was also preceded in death by her husbands, Jessie Hicks and Curtis Pink Rafferty.
     Mrs. Rafferty is survived by a sister, Anne Lawson of Symsonia, Kentucky.

Donnette Washburn McCoy

     Donnette Washburn McCoy, 50, of Milan, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. McCoy were held Monday, April 24, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. at Mack's Grove Cemetery in Palmersville. Rev. David Leneave officiated the services.
     Mrs. McCoy was a homemaker and member of Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Dresden High School. Mrs. McCoy was born in Chester County to Fay Marie Grissom Washburn and the late Bro. Charles Washburn.
     Mrs. McCoy is survived by her husband, Mr. Reese Lynn McCoy of Milan; two sons, Adam (Kelly) Cooper of McKenzie, and Clay McCoy of Milan; her mother, Mrs. Fay Marie Washburn of Dresden; two sisters, Peggy (Scotty) Courtright of Greensboro, South Carolina, and Pam (Richard) Adams of Martin; a brother, Wayne (Rita) Washburn of Dresden; and three grandchildren, Brent Sampson, Brandon and Amber Leigh Cooper, all of McKenzie.

Marilyn Joan Wilson

     Marilyn Joan Wilson, 44, of Sharon, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Funeral services for Ms. Wilson were held Sunday, April 10, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Gearin's Chapel Cemetery in Greenfield. Barry Capps officiated the services.
     Ms. Wilson was a homemaker. She was born December 3, 1960 in Sharon. Ms. Wilson was preceded in death by her father, John Chappell.
     Ms. Wilson is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Wilson) Riddle of Gleason; two sons, Joseph Wilson of Somerville, Tennessee, and Johnny Wilson of Lebanon, Tennessee; her mother, Flossie Chappell of Dresden; a sister, Patricia McCaffery of Saukvillege, Illinois; a brother, Johnny Chappell of Dresden; and three grandchildren.

Novella Killebrew

     Novella Killebrew, 89, of Fulton, Kentucky, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton. Funeral services for Mrs. Killebrew were held Sunday, April 24, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Fulton. Miles Mayo and David Hazelwood officiated the services.
     Mrs. Killebrew was a retired clerk from the former Baldridge's Dime Store in Fulton, and retired from the State of Kentucky as a Welcome Center Hostess in Fulton. She was also a member of the Smith Street Church of Christ in South Fulton. Mrs. Killebrew was born August 17, 1915 in Graves County, Kentucky to the late Charlie Ewing Rickman and Dellie Ellen Holden Rickman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Killebrew was also preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Norman, Flois and Harmon Rickman.
     Mrs. Killebrew is survived by her husband, whom she married August 16, 1936, William Killebrew of Fulton; a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy K. and James O. Butts of Fulton; two granddaughters, Kathy Butts Waycaster of Arlington, Tennessee, and Jamie Butts Hicks of South Fulton; four great-grandsons, Michael and Blake Waycaster of Arlington, Tennessee, and Adam and Conner Hicks of South Fulton; a brother, Darrell Edward Rickman of Campbellsville; and four sisters, Pauline Shupe of Mayfield, Billie Sue Walker of Martin, Lucille Brame of Wingo, Kentucky, and Geraldine Jones of Sedalia, Kentucky.

Robert Gary Carlton

     Robert Gary Carlton, 66, of Martin, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Carlton were held Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. David Freeman officiated the services.
     Mr. Carlton was retired from Martin Manufacturing Company as a Supervisor in the Cutting Department. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a graduate of Martin High School. Mr. Carlton was born August 25, 1938 in Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Hannings Carlton; and a brother, Charles Denny Carlton.
     Mr. Carlton is survived by his companion and best friend for 16 years, Beverly Bastyr; two daughters, Lilianne Hammonds of Dresden, and Cynthia Kathleen Gearin of Greenfield; and four grandchildren, Mallory Hammonds, Maci Hammonds, Jennifer Gearin, and Layla Elhulu.

Sprugell Burton Freeman

     Sprugell Burton Freeman, 86, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Sharon, he was the son of the late Walter and Chapie Susan Burton Freeman. Mr. Freeman retired as a custodian at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Mae Morris Freeman in 2000; one son, Bobby Lee Freeman; one daughter, Brenda Faye Freeman; two brothers; and two sisters.
     Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Kay Smith of Elizabethton, Tennessee; one son, Roy Gene Freeman of Palatine, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2005, at Gardner Funeral Home in Sharon with interment following in Woodlawn Cemetery.
